We had lunch here after a wonderful morning's concert in nearby Helmsley during the recent Ryedale Festival. What could be more idyllic than lunching in the sunshine on their pretty terrace overlooking a delightful village pond. Our meal was absolutely delicious, with excellent service. It would be hard to find a more perfect place to eat - it certainly ticks all the boxes!

My sister very kindly gave us a voucher for Champagne Afternoon Tea at The Pheasant and we went on Saturday afternoon. We were given a warm welcome and shown to our table on the terrace which is very attractive covered in vines with a view to the lake. Our waitress asked how we'd like our tea and we decided to have our champagne followed by sandwiches and then our tea at the end with cakes. We ordered our choice of sandwich which included smoked salmon, York ham, prawn and dill mayo or beef and horseradish and then sat back to enjoy our champagne. We spent a very relaxing hour and a half chatting and enjoying delicious food including: carrot cake, raspberry tart, chocolate torte and homemade fruit scones with clotted cream and raspberry jam. The portions of food were perfect, not too much that you couldn't enjoy everything but enough not to need another meal that evening. Following our tea we changed into walking gear to do a lovely 10 mile walk in the area. I would certainly go here again for afternoon tea it's such a delightful setting.

Room tip: We didn't stay the night as we only went for afternoon tea.

Met friends for dinner here last night and couldn't fault a single thing! Perfect service from superbly attentive staff and fabulous meal. The strawberry shortcake with a strawberry and rose consommé was the best pudding I have had for a very long time. Really looking forward to returning very soon!

Stayed one night for our wedding anniversary and everything was perfect, the room we had was gorgeous, immaculately decorated, comfortable large bed, great facilities, really sumptuous furnishings.
We had a lovely late simple lunch of sandwiches and chips ( the chips are gorgeous), the bar area and adjoining dining rooms are so well thougt out, there is a lovely breakfast room with real thought to detail and lovely fresh floral arrangements everywhere, the dining room where we ate our evening meal was again perfect with crisp linen tablecloths and napkins.
The food in the evening was outstanding, we were served a pea and marrowbone amuse-bouche which was so tasty, then we had the herby risotto with tiny cheese dumplings, this was the nicest risotto i have ever had, then we had the chicken and pork dishes which again were delicious, we dont often have desserts but had to try in view of the previous dishes, we were not disappointed as the chocolate tart and the strawberry desserts were divine.
Breakfast is equally as good as everything else here with fabulous choice.
The staff here are so lovely and friendly but pay such attention to detail that the whole experience here is great, we will absolutely be back.

We were here for a wedding reception and stayed overnight, however we would fully recommend a stay, rooms were very spacious and well appointed. The staff could not do enough for you and service was prompt and efficient. Tremendous buffet breakfast was included
A great base to explore the delights of North Yorkshire
