Me and my husband stayed here on the night of our wedding and were not able to get any sleep due to the loud and disturbing event going on at the same time. Upon arriving to the hotel that night around 11:00 pm there were guests yelling and singing loudly and making noise throughout the hotel. Our room was at the top of the stairs on the second level of the house and there was no sound barrier between our room and the event taking place downstairs. After guests left around midnight the clean up crew continued to make an incredible amount of noise and slammed doors as they came in and out of the building. This continued well after midnight. We then called the after-hours number left on the information sheet in the room and spoke with someone who was quite rude and very unhelpful and did not receive a solution for the problem. This would have been troubling for even a normal night's stay but was very disappointing for our wedding night. I will never stay here again and will warn other people not to if they want a peaceful night's rest.

My husband and I stayed here on our way to Myrtle Beach. The grounds are expansive and perfect for walks. The actual manor house is set back in the park and you just have to go through the park gates and tell the attendant that you are guest at the Manor House and you are admitted for free. When you check in you are given a pass so you are able to come and go as you please. The lady at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful, quickly and efficiently processing the necessary paperwork and giving us excellent directions to the nearest Starbucks. We stayed in the Steeplechase room on the second floor. The room was wonderful. It was nicely decorated and very spacious. The beds were very comfortable and we had no problem with the free wifi. The only complaint I had, and it was significant in my opinion, was that checkout wasn't until 11:00 a.m., however, a cleaning staff member banged on our door yelling, "housekeeping!" at 8:30 a.m. We were both woken up and I went to the door and told her we weren't up yet. She and her friends proceeded to camp out right outside our door and loudly laugh, chat and call to other employees down the hall. There was absolutely no way any further sleep could take place so we got up and left them to clean at 9:00 a.m. We went down to a delicious breakfast served promptly by a charming gentleman. We had fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. On the side tables muffins, yogurt etc. was available. Juice and coffee was also available. The dining room was very nicely decorated with tables scattered around the room like a restaurant. We decided to go for a walk on the beautiful grounds to give the staff ample time to clean the room, even though it made absolutely no sense since we were coming back into the room to shower and pack to leave. We returned to the room at 10:10 and it had been untouched! So what exactly was the need to bang on our door at 8:30 a.m.? The housekeeping staff really need to brush up on their hospitality skills and manners. They definitely put a damper on an otherwise lovely stay.

Room tip: Put out the Do Not Disturb sign the night before since common sense seems to elude the housekeeping staff.

The rooms on the front look across huge rolling lawns and the 800 bush rose garden. The rooms are huge and well-appointed. While the bathroom had older fixtures, they added to the ambiance rather than detracting. Bed was excellent. If you are a photographer, be certain to take your camera during blooming season. Overall, the inn was very quiet with plenty of space to relax and think. We did have trouble locating the inn using our GPS. Go to the entrance of Tanglewood park. Tell the gatekeeper where you are staying and he will wave you through with directions.

Room tip: We stayed in the front corner Johnson Room. It had huge windows that overlooked the front lawn. It was also farthest away from the main part of the inn, so it was very quiet. The internet connection did not work well inside our room, but there was a lovely, secluded sitting area just outside the room where service was strong.

We arrived at 2PM, easy to find, park ranger allowed us to go straight into Tanglewood Park, did not have to pay entrance fee. Welcomed at the desk, lady was very accommodating, answered all questions. I would advise to arrive prior to 5PM, before office closes. Stayed in the Lord Linville Room (#324) upstairs. Room was spacious, quite, very clean, king size bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a step up, was private, completely tiled area, had a dated feel (no counter space), but was clean. - if you are expecting the niceities, personal touches that a Bed and Breakfast has to offer the Manor Home will not meet those expectations, but for the price you can't beat what you get. The home is run by the park service and overall is beautiful, expansive, the veranda, with ceiling fans, was great to be able to look out over the park, very relaxing. The park offers great walking trails, which we enjoyed. Right outside the back door is the Arboretum. The breakfast area was set nicely, the food was more commercial, restaurant, instead of home cooked. however the second day was better, we asked that our eggs be prepared differently, they accommodated. Short drive to Starbucks, in Clemmons, if you need better coffee. I would recommend this Manor Home to anyone staying in Clemmons.

On business my teenage son and I were overnight guests and Manor House. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and more than filling. The pricing was very reasonable and the service was excellent. Renae L. Kirkman was the staff person who helped us set up our reservation and was the one who greeted us at the B&B. She gave us some good options for places to go out for dinner and was there to help us in the morning as well. The excellent service set apart Manor House from other places in the Winston Salem area. Renae and the staff were genuinly concerned for our well being. We will be staying at Manor House again. We did not get to utilize the pool / walking trails and other options as we were short on time, but the grounds were spectacular.

Room tip: Some rooms were much nicer than others. We stayed in 224 which was clean and comfortable with a king size bed and private bath.
