We were in New Paltz and the first restaurant recommendation we were headed to turned out to be closed. The bartender at Jar'd suggested we go to BrauHaus and she turned out to be right! The sauerbraten was fantastic and fell apart with the touch of a fork. The potato dumplings were an amazing surprise! I'd never had them before and they were fluffy and amazing!!!

I'm definitely going to explore German fare more, bit I hope it's as good as this!

Really enjoyed this restaurant. Service was great and the food superb. The four us all all got generous portions of excellent food. Recommend the sauerbraten and the Zwiebel Rostbraten, The bavarian pretzel appetizer was great as well. Highly recommend.

This place has absolutely gorgeous food. From the german traditional, to garden fresh vegan, everything is so satisfying and creative and tasty. With their amazing menu and their scenic vantage point beneath the Shawangunk mountains, the restaurant is so popular that you will find that the wait for a table may be longer than you'd expect from a small-town restaurant. It is worth it. Plan to either get there early or wait. Dance for joy if they can take your table right away. Reservations are only taken for parties over 6 people. Sometimes, waves of out-of-town business will disrupt what are already busy nights. I used to live in the area and always make a point of returning. I'm always willing to wait a little for what inevitably proves to be one of the best meals of my life. Try their daily specials; they are often harvested from the restaurant's garden. Other favorites: Jaeger Schnitzel, Schweinshaxe (pork shank, slow-roasted), smoked trout salad, and their house dressing, buttermilk herb. I could go on.

The Mountain Brauhaus is located at the base of the Shawangunk Mountain cliffs, about 15 minutes West of New Paltz NY. Located in a beautiful setting, the Brauhaus serves delicious and authentic German food. The wait staff dressed in traditional German costume adding to the overall experience. The wide selection of food was enjoyed by everyone at the table. The prices were reasonable, food excellent and portions generous which equals great value.

We will definitely return. Highly recommended!

First we had a 7pm reservation the finally called us and wanted to put a group of 8 by the bar. We declined and it took almost an hour to get a table. They did give us free pretzels as an appetizer which was nice. We order are meal again very long wait.
The food was very good. I had the pot roast and mash potatoes. The pot roast was missing something the gravy is usually much better. The veal was very good. The service was ok not great. It a shame that the wait times truly hurt them 7 pm dinner didn't end till 10 pm.
