We went here on a weekday with our grandsons. While the main thrust of the center is space, it does have other science exhibits. Most exhibits are hands-on. There is even one area reserved for preschoolers. The building is multistory, so be prepared for stairs. There is an elevator. The center shows several videos during the day on space related topics. The theater is amazing. The planetarium was closed while we were there, too cloudy, but they have programs there, too.

This aninteresting place to visit with children to learn about the universe. It is especially interesting when a comment passes close to earth and they open it at night for special viewings. If you want places like these to survive then patronage and visits are a must. Joining the center is even better.

Attended Bay Area Children's Film Festival. Excellent event in a great setting! Besides very much enjoying the films, the visit gave us an opportunity to explore the other features of Chabot. Telescopes, educational exhibits, and really imaginative food. Free parking too. Much fun!

Arriving at Sunset Friday March 3rd with my wife, Chabot was lit against a starry night, with a beautiful sunset behind San Francisco. (see Pro Tip at the end)

The $5 entry was a bargain.

The halls were bustling with life as we went into the Megadome so see a great presentation by an Oscar nominated Pixar Storyboard artist on how he made a short animated movie about Leonardo Da Vinci. (including showing the movie)
Afterwards we went upstairs into the Star Trek Exhibit showing 50 artists impressions from 50 years of Star Trek, we saw our favorite scenes (Gorn from the Arena) and characters (Kirk and Spock) in beautiful paintings and posters.

with food, wine and beer for sale, there was a festive mood, kids where making stop motion movie using their own bodies. Everyone was having a great time.

We ended the evening with a stand-up comedy by a cartoonist referencing everything from Comic Con, Star Wars, Marvel, James Bond and Games of Thrones.

We will be back later to see the laser show in the planetarium set against Pink Floyd's "Dark side of the moon".

$5 first Fridays at Chabot will be a recurring event for our Family.

Did I mention that there is a new visionary Management and the the old and worn Bill Nye's climate lab has been taken down and is being turned into a Maker Space.

Chabot Space and Science Center is the prime candidate to be my favorite place to hang out after work.

Pro:Tip arrive in time to see the sunset behind San Francisco, make sure you visit the amateur astronomers on the deck of the observatory complex for the personal favorites.

We recently visited the Chabot Space & Science Center. This is a great place to see telescopes and hear from volunteers who actually built telescopes with masters of the art.
