We chose the city of Chennai as the last of our trip to India before returning to the USA. And we chose the Radisson for the recommendation from Tripadvisor. At the airport we were greeted by an hotel employee who accompanied us to the car that was waiting to lead us to the hotel. The driver was all white and the car (Toyota Corolla) was clean and ready to go. Rarity in India!
On arrival at the hotel we were received with much kindness. We got our room keys in less than one minute.Unusual rapidity in India. Unfortunately, the room had been refurbished and had a whiff of glue (from wallpaper). We ask for a room exchange which was done at same time.Very good service!
We were in a room on the second floor which was average size with LCD TV 27 "with various international channels and also a DVD player. Bed very good!. Several pillows to choose from. Slippers in hand. Hair dryer, makeup mirrors are part of the bathroom that also has a very nice shower.
On the night we went to eat in Great Kabab Factory (locate at hotel lobby floor). Great option but be prepared for pepper. To our taste was very "spice" and we ask the maitre do to us something without so much pepper. He did but still spice!! As a reward for our complaint they charged us only the value for one person. Very courteous!
The hotel proximity of the airport( 5 minutes) is good but it is far from the shopping area.To reach the streets of downtown you must confront the chaotic traffic and 40 to 50 minutes by car.Or by tuck tuck...
The next day morning we enjoy the breakfast which is quite varied and includes espresso coffee without extra cost.Few options for cheese and cold meat but plenty of fruits, cereals and juices (naturals and canned). Also have the option to the fried egg or omelet made to order. There is a constant concern among employees about whether it's okay. Every time there is someone asking if you need something more.
During our stay we used the business center that has two computers with printer and connected to the internet. The use is free but however it is open until 22:00 pm. After this time there is the possibility of using computers in the Radisson Lounge (first floor) that is open until 23:00 pm. The Wi Fi service works very well in the rooms and is free.
We received several discount coupons and also one that gave the right to 15 minutes free massage at the spa hotel. My wife used the spa and got a great impression of the service
On the last day I used the pool which is behind the restaurant. The chairs were comfortable and there are towels and mineral water (free) available to users.
The return to the airport was also done with the car from the hotel and also free.

Room tip: If possible ask for bussines rooms on the first floor.

Summary: if you are a frequent traveller and used to a high standard of quality, do not stay here. If you are an infrequent traveller that is not too picky, this place should be fine for you.

Review:
This can't possibly be the 2nd best hotel in Chennai and is definitely and not up to standards for Radisson Blu. If you've been to their locations in Europe, you'll be surprised this is allowed to be called a Radisson Blu.

On the good side, the beds are very comfortable, the staff is accomodating, and the lunch buffet was tasty.

On the not so good side, the rooms are musty, poorly cleaned over the years (my shower had mildew that looked like it had been there for years), and tired. I had 2 different rooms and both were of equally poor quality, so I don't think it was an anomoly. Also, my colleague had a room facing the airport and mentioned she was frequently woken by the planes landing/taking off. And a final aesthetic note: the room colors are dark, making the room heavy and depressing.

I checked out quickly and dashed over to the Raintree Anna Salai, where I've stayed before, and the quality is much better.

Room tip: To avoid noise disturbance while you sleep, ask for a room NOT facing the airport AND away from the elevator.

Dear Ms Melody

I thank you for the feedback on the Trip advisor on your recent stay at our hotel. I regret that you had not enjoyed your stay, especially the rooms. I have noted your concerns on the room décor and the conditions. I will certainly take this up and ensure that we make a better product. Just to mention, we have been judged the best Radisson Blu hotel in Asia Pacific several times by international juries and are recipients of the Carlson Asia Pacific President’s Award for quality 4 times in a row besides leading the ratings on all social media including the Trip advisor.

Nevertheless, we respect your opinion and would like to compensate you with an offer for dinner for two persons in our signature restaurant, The Great Kebab Factory for the inconvenience faced by you. If you need to reach me for anything please do not hesitate to call me or mail me.

Best regards,

My family and I stayed in this Hotel for 2 nights in December 2011. The reason why I chose this Hotel was its proximity to the Airport and I had an early morning flight to catch to go to Hyderabad on the third day.

The staffs from reception to room service were excellent and super efficient. We checked in around midnight after a long day's drive and within minutes found ourselves in a clean and cosy room and had a good nite's sleep.

There was a a complimentary foot massage, which the Spa accomodated, despite the fact that it was very busy, itthe Spa happily accomodated despite the fact that it was fully booked for the day. The Spa has a nice setting and the receptionist was very helpful. Too bad I missed out on the full body massage as their therapists were fully booked for the day. Tip: Book early if you want to use the Spa facilities.

Dining at The Great Kabab Factory was a unique experience. Each time the waiter delivers a course to your table he will tell you what itis and how it ought to be consumed - plain or with the accompanying course. A little pricey but worth paying for the experience.

The one drawback is the location of the hotel. Its proximity to the Airport is certainly convenient to those who have flights to catch, but not so to those who have to make frequent trips to city for shopping, business, etc., which could easily take 30 to 45 minutes by car, depending on the time and traffic conditions. Not advisable to take auto as the ride could be long and bumpy. The plus side is that the Hotel provides complimentary airport drop-off.

Overall, it is a fairly decent Hotel that strives to provide service par excellence, and worth a stay if distance from city is not an important consideration.

As a frequent international business traveller for the last 15 years I have a great deal of experience with both good and bad hotels and service. This was however my first visit to India, and I could not have asked for a more wonderful experience. I can honestly say that in 15 years this was by far my best hotel experience.
Of course the location is not one you would likely choose for a pleasure trip, chosen primarily for airport proximity; it isnt set amongst acres of gardens or a short walk from the beach, but frankly the service and care that I received from the staff means that I would never choose to stay anywhere else. If I could live in the chennai Radisson blue permanently I would.
From day one everyone was attentative to every need, and there was so much more detail of care than I have experienced in the past from far more expensive hotels. Every person seemed to really care about both their job and guest happiness, and nothing was ever too much effort for them.
The rooms are excellently attended and I have never had a better nights sleep. Excellent room facilities, large tv, tea/coffee and complimentary snacks tailored to your likes/dislikes, good mini bar, complimentary water. Excellent bathroom. The laundry service was quick and cheap, and the gym and spa were pristeen and well kitted out.
I will be staying again, the sooner the better.

Stay at Radisson Blu Chennai was a good change after a long awaited silver jubilee meet of our completion of graduation at college.
Rooms were cosy and breakfast was good. The response from the staff was exceptional. They were ready to help u in every possible way. The body relaxer in the room provided much comfort as well as the SPA.
Compliments were good but could have been more.
Selection of this hotel is good for its proximity to the airport. But surprised to hear from them that they had no airticket booking arrangement?
In all the stay was refreshing and advice others to give it a try.
