We loved Hoi An and the Anantara is very well located to explore the town but also far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed the walk in to town from the hotel and visiting the many shops and market along the way. The hotel itself is beautiful, but we were disappointed with our room. We had a ground floor room facing the river and as other people have reported the room is very dark and if you sit on your terrace/balcony people walk right past so it doesn't feel very private. The other issue we had was with a strong smell of damp in the room. We did report this, but despite staff placing candles and citronella in the room it never took away the unpleasant smell. This did unfortunately rather spoil our experience as we didn't really enjoy being in the room. Other than this problem we really enjoyed all other aspects of the hotel - the staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was fantastic. We didn't use the pool - it did feel very cold as others have mentioned - we used the bikes which we thoroughly enjoyed and enabled us to explore the area easily.More
