I appreciated the small group and the attention to detail. We snorkeled in a bay with a good deal of sea life and a cenote (Pet Cemetery) full of (friendly) bats, Ate a great lunch, zip lined, and swam in a second cenote. The guide and driver were professional and my wife and I had a great day.
I can't say enough about this tour company. Prompt, communicative before the tour. Driver showed up right on time in the morning. (Be prepared for an extra early pick up if in Tulum- don't worry your day of adventure is worth it!) we were greeted at 5:20 with coffee and a pastry by our van driver. The van was clean and air conditioned. Drove towards cancun. The guide, Francisco, was AMAZING. He instructed us along the way, he was funny and fun to spend the day with. He offered and suggested Dramamine beforehand and I'm glad I took it, I had zero sea sickness. Just follow the guides instructions and you will have an incredible experience. The journey to reach the sharks is long but the time you get to spend with them was awesome! The whale sharks were gentle giant animals. Don't be afraid to get close (just don't touch, as they get skin infections easily if we touch them it breaks their mucous barrier). You get to spend a long time with them, we did 2-3 jumps, about 10 min each. It's wonderful. I'm an anxious person and I felt very calm next to the sharks. Just be prepared to be tired, you swim fast to keep pace with them. It's tiring after a few jumps.
We were offered snacks and sandwiches throughout the day. Also beer and water. We had a little beach party back at isla mujeres afterwards, it was SO FUN. Music, fresh made ceviche and guacamole. We got to know the other people on the tour well. It was a lot of fun.
Afterwards we head back and stop at Oscar and Lalos, their home base, to pay and we were offered some free appetizers- AMAZING, made me want to try the restaurant later. Also a free smoothie that was very invigorating and helped replenish our energy after our adventure. They even offered us cake to go.
Wonderful operation, we were not expecting to much hospitality alllll day long. Great staff- can't say enough. You won't regret this tour.
Eli was our tour guide and Driver, he was flying solo this day. He picked us up from our rental house in Solimon Bay. We had coffee and muffins before we left for our tour of 3 cenotes. Virginia at Oscar & Lalo's set it up after we stopped in to dine one night. She asked what we had planned and we were honestly going to wing it and go on our own to visit the cenotes. SO GALD WE DIDN'T! Eli is very knowledgeable of the area and knows when to go to each cenote to avoid the crowds. Sac-Atun was by far the best cenote I have ever been to. We had the whole cave to ourselves. The only time we saw another group was on our way out in the parking lot. Talk about personal VIP service. This is it! We were travelling with small children and Elli helped my youngest 6 year old daughter Alyssa the whole time. He is the one who taught her to snorkel, he did everything to make this tour special and we can't thank him enough. Thank you Ellie and Virginia. Your the best!
It was an incredible experience snorkeling with the whale sharks. We had no idea we would see so many, they were even very visible from the boat. Once you get in the water, it is truly something you will never forget. The staff made the experience very enjoyable with snacks and helpful hints on seasickness. I would recommend this to any animal lover . Makes you realize how "small" you are in the world .
We were picked up at our resort . Then to a snorkel cave pool , jungle zip line , then repelling . Toured the Mayan Ruins .Tulum Xtreme tour . Our guide for the day was Mygnor . He was the best ! I don't swim so he handled me with care the whole time I was in the pool. So thankful he was patient or I would have not been able to do . It was so fun . One caution .......the Mayan ruins area is very hot .Our guide provided us with a large umbrella . So glad he did ! A lifetime of memories for my daughter and I.
Virginia, with Riviera Adventours is a beautiful young woman, warm, kind, friendly, very knowledgable and proud of her land and culture. Their tour to Chichen Itza is an exceptional plan. All their tours are small groups, with no more than 10 explorers. if you have ever been on a typical tour of 30 - 60, with it's rather frantic, herd, impersonal atmosphere, you can especially enjoy this relaxed personal attention. This tour explores a variety of sights and experiences, making it the most interesting and varied of all the Chichen Itza tours I read about.
At least the Tulum tour stops at their one of a kind restaurants, Oscar and Lalo. If possible, definitely enjoy a meal there. The grounds of the restaurant are exceptional and surprising. Each dish our party ordered was delicious. The Tres Dulce's cake may have been the most wonderful taste I've put in my mouth!
