We had heard good things about Manjar Blanco. The menu is on a placemat and on the surface seems like the same old, same old Yucatacan cooking. Salbutes, etc. While it is local cooking, someone in the kitchen is trying, and succeeding to take local food another step up. I understand why Rick Bayless praised Manjar Blanco.
The placemat menu in Spanish does not cover all of the available items. One of our party asked for the English menu, which includes breakfast items not on the lunch placemat menu. The chilaquiles at 75 pesos were great. So was the Lomito vallidolid. Service was attentive, restrooms were clean and utilitarian decor. Costs average about 150 pesos per person including drink, main and shared dessert (an excellent coconut creme).
