The hotel has been taken over, and you can see that it is being refurbished bit by bit. The room was comfortable enough. THE STAFF ARE EXCEPTIONAL. They greet you properly, provide proper service, and make you feel like a welcome guest and not an...inconvenience. Now, the real test is how they react when something goes wrong. We had a meal (which was good) that was ruined because I had to remove my daughter from the restaurant due to the behaviour of some locals who were going a bit too far. We left half our meal. I complained the next morning. The owner immediately apologised (took complete ownership, no argument or excuse) of the problem and ensured that our stay was as pleasant as possible. That is proper service and something that you don't see very often. The food was good and generously portioned. A slightly expanded menu would have been good or a dish of the day, but Dingwall is a small rural town, so I can understand why the menu was limited. Wifi was also good Overall, Yes, I will come back.More

We spent two midweek nights at The National in January 2024. The lasting impression will be of how friendly and helpful all the staff we met were. Our room was spacious and well equipped; coffee, milk, etc. was replenished and there were fresh towels daily....The breakfasts were excellent, freshly prepared with care and imagination, alongside a generous buffet. On the first night we ate in the hotel restaurant - a limited but adequate choice but again freshly prepared, good quality food served with a smile. There are areas of the hotel in need of some refurbishment but nothing that adversely affected our stay - we were comfortable and well looked after. I genuinely do not know how this level of service can be provided for the price we paid.More

Stayed on a Saturday night in a delux double room. A nice room with very modern bathroom. Plenty of gluten free options for dinner and adapted breakfast to ensure gluten free. Even the cafe attached to the hotel had a nice gluten free cake. Staff...were friendly and helpful. The only negative was lack of hot water in the shower, even though the sink had hot water.More

This hotel gets 5 stars from me because they gave us some rooms at short notice and we urgently needed them . I believe the hotel is in the process of a refurb ,which is needed in some areas ,but our bedding ,towels etc were...clean ,bed comfortable, complimentary hot drinks tray and kettle in our room ,the Highland sea kelp soap, shampoo and shower gel were really nice ,above all of these things though were the helpful staff , especially Leah who was so friendly and kind ,she is a real asset to the hotel ,we enjoyed a few hours in the bar and the food was good too .Thank you from us bikers from Yorkshire .More

I unfortunately arrived at a meal time the bar staff told me. The manager told me in a email that they were dealing with another customer. Glad I wasn’t wanting to book in for a stay as the manager thought my complaint of ringing the...doorbell 5 times was exaggerated. I had compared it to if there was a fire would they have dealt with the customer first! Word of warning don’t try and see anyone at the hotel during meal times or if they have an imaginary customer!More

I booked friends into the National..it being so close to the station and the other venues we were using for our meeting. Sadly it was Karoke night which they hadn't been warned about and all but one ( she is very deaf) slept badly. One...of group who is elderly was on the top floor and there was no help offered with cases. Breakfast was very disappointing, even the Continental version and the tea/ coffee etc. in the rooms had obviously been there for some time. The good thing about the stay was that the rooms were clean and the one member of staff who seemed to have to do everything was very friendly and did her best.More

The hotel itself is a little tired but the room we got (103) was pleasant enough although as mentioned - heating pipe work looks a bit tired. (Room 101 has door access to outside balcony). Hotel room warm and cosy, furniture is of a good...solid standard and bed is comfortable. All you need (kettle / tea / coffee etc), nice tartan curtains and matching bedspread. Bathroom recently renovated to high standard and very spacious overall (corner bath and separate shower). Staff exceptionally professional and extremely helpful and always willing to go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and welcoming as possible. 10 out of 10 to the owners and a very big thank you for all that they had done, assisted and helped us during our stay.More
