This is the third time having a fish boil at the Old Post Office. The service and food is consistently good. An alternative entree is offered for those not desiring the fish. Family friendly as there is a children’s menu offered. “Torch” is the guy...who prepares all the fish boils…400 annually! He does a great job explaining the process as he is doing it!More

When we made our reservation, they asked if we would be willing to share a table. (We were lucky and shared the table with a wonderful couple.) The fish boil presentation is about 30 minutes, and well explained. Fiery and lots of fun. Boiled fish...does not appeal to me (I went for the show) so I ordered one of the alternatives (fried chicken), which you can only order in advance. This is explained on its website. The lady sharing the table with us did not like the fish because of the bones (there are little bones even though the server removes most of the bones). My husband got the fish, which came with butter and lemon slices. We shared the fish and chicken.More

We attended the traditional Friday night fish boil. Get there early (as requested) for the narrative and storytelling as the meal is prepared. The food was very good (and plentiful). The atmosphere was nice and the staff friendly (especially considering the number of customers). The...system was very good, with everyone being fed in a reasonable amount of time. It feels slightly rushed... don't expect to sit around drinking coffee and talking after dessert... but they have three seatings in one evening.More

We were lucky to get reservations for the nightly fish boil. The presentation of the cooking process was entertaining. The food itself was quite good, especially the bread and the cherry pie for dessert. Our waiter was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant and would...definitely return.More

There is NO BETTER RESTAURANT for BREAKFAST in all of Door County!! The Servers are always pleasant and patient. They stop frequently to refill coffee or provide any items requested. The MENU is varied and easy to follow. I always order the Door County Cherry...Pancakes which are excellent. I usually order three and bring half home for another day. My wife always orders the Yogurt Combo which includes vanilla yogurt, granola, wild blueberries, cherries and raisins. It is the very best yogurt combo she has found. The order always comes quickly! There is both Inside & Outside seating. Everyone has a view looking out to waters of Green Bay. One final comment—-the prices here are better the best.More

Good beginner fish boil experience. My husband got the fish and said it was ok, but ended up having the chicken I ordered instead. The saving grace for us was the butter. The lemon bread was sweet but good. The potatoes were fine. The coleslaw...was very good. Drinks at the stand were overpriced in our opinion.More

Years ago we came here for the Fish Boil. This year we returned with friends who were new to the area, and we knew they needed to experience the FB tradition. We were totally blown away with both the actual fish boil and the resulting...dinner. It used to be that you walked through a line and got meager portions of bony fish and sides. It is so different now. You are assigned a table, and served by wait staff that debones your fish right at the table. Everything tasted great and we went away feeling comfortably sated.More

It’s been many years since our fish boil in Bayfield, WI, so we were eager to enjoy one on our first visit to Door County. This one came highly recommended by friends, and we made our reservation well in advance. The boil master “Torch” was...very personable and informative! He gave us the history of the peninsula and origin of the boil from early Scandinavian settlers. He’s truly passionate about what he does. It was a very delicious meal we could enjoy time and time again. Wait staff was efficient and friendly - they actually remove the bones from the white fish steaks before they’re served. We recommend this choice.More

Apparently you have to go to a fish boil in Door County. We were glad we chose this restaurant. First, Ephraim is a gorgeous town. Second, the Old Post Office is a historic site that was rescued and rehabbed as a lakeside restaurant. Third, the...boil master knows his stuff and gives a good show. Fourth, they remove the bones for you. Fifth, you get cherry pie for dessert. The only potential downside is sharing a table with strangers, but we met an interesting couple and enjoyed the conversation.More

We arrived shortly before they opened at 7:30AM. There were about 20 people waiting. Once they opened the door the hostess seated everyone quickly. My wife had the Belgian waffles topped with whipped cream and strawberries that had been frozen. Costing $3.25 more than a...plain waffle, they should have been topped with fresh strawberries. It's summer after all! I had the French toast. It tasted bland. Thick slices of Texas style bread were used. It would be nice if they offered a few choices of bread like cinnamon or rasin. I also had a large cherry muffin which was very tasty. They had ample wait staff who were very attentive. They topped our coffee several times.More

Anytime we are in Ephraim, we always have breakfast at the old post office at least once. We really enjoy the cherry pancakes. Would recommend the short stack because it’s a lot to eat. Restaurant is very clean and staff very attentive. Highly recommend.

We went to the fish bowl and enjoyed the food as well as the atmosphere. Everything was cooked perfectly — including the cherry pie. Make your reservation and then show up 30 minutes early to watch them cook your dinner.
