Great community run cafe, serving a range of food and drink. The food was fresh, but you do have to be prepared to wait for a while as they are often a bit short of staff.

I and my friends have stayed here several times and it was always nice. Just before the pandemic I was due to receive visitors from Australia. Unfortunately with lockdown both in the UK and a stricter one in Australia they were not allowed to travel....Now that restrictions are lifted they arrive in the UK this Sunday. I contacted Robbie at the ramblers rest. Explained about the voucher which was out of date, and it was down to the pandemic. I asked if he would honour the voucher. He bluntly said,"NO" I was very disappointed and expected more from Robbie. So I have been left with a voucher costing over £100 that I can't use. You would hope that they would have been more understanding especially after the pandemic. It is a shame because the good memories of staying at the ramblers rest in castleton now don't don't mean anything.More
Would John Lewis or M&S honour a voucher 3 years out of date?
Heaven sent freshly roast pork crackling & stuffing in a bread roll . We sat outside, admired the huge flowering fushia and washed our treat down with a nice mug of tea.
Great Cornish pastie and lovely cuppa. Situated at the end of a long tough but beautiful walk. V welcome
Super tasting latte coffee and tea in takeaway cups. We sat and enjoyed them by the small stream in the sunshine in your patio garden. Polite service. Loved the flavour of your coffee. Other guests looked happy too.
We had to pre-book to fit in with their very good COVID controls. The beer was good, the food was good and so was the service. I opted to order from the waitress but there is also an option to order via their App. I...enjoyed the evening and would go again.More

Be careful they tried charge me a massive 15 pounds for 3 small bottles of water and two lollies. They wore no face covering or visor, no protective panel and no gel. Unkind to customers, not recommended.More

Great place to pop in after a full day on the hill. Tea was in plentiful supply and the scones were delicious.
Went to this cafe for breakfast. Food was delicious, good quality food (sausage sandwich and fried egg sandwich). Also, had drinks. Staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
Thanks for your review we are so happy you enjoyed your trip
Stayed for two nights in the family room (1 double, 2 singles). Very nice stone building, room with TV and ensuite. Breakfast was great, they have a small cafe downstairs so good choice and full English cooked when we got down, very nice owners. Small...car park available. Area has all charm expected of a village in the Peak District and ideal starting point to go on a ramble.More
