Be careful not to drive right by without even seeing this place. It's just an old two-story house, but oh-so-well worth a stop! If you want an absolutely delicious berry pie, Hungry Hollow is definitely the place to go. Their other desserts and breads have...tempted us numerous times, as have their crispy dill pickles, jams and jellies, etc. The fridge and freezer are filled with a good variety of take away foods. My only regret is that I live 3,000 miles away and only get to stop in when I'm visiting Maine. And I ALWAYS do! The gift shop is fun to browse through. Check out the tee-shirts and sweat shirts featuring "advice from" local birds or animals. It is hard to decide which one fits your personality best! And there's a wide variety of other Maine-made or Maine-themed trivets, books, and the like. The owner, Shirley, is no spring chicken, but is the sweet, chirpy heart of the shop. She always seems happy to have you stop and chat. The rest of her staff are also friendly and helpful. If you're ever on Highway 26 between Oxford/Norway and West Paris/Bethel, do stop and at least sample the sweet morsels Hungry Hollow has to offer.More

What a hidden treasure. It's not surprising that many people just drive right past it, it looks like just a regular house or perhaps a small antique store. But Stop! Go inside, it is chock full of fresh baked items. It looks like Grandma's Kitchen...gone mad - and apparently has been that way for 34 years. However, behind the unassuming counter lies a pretty amazingly equipped kitchen that churns out incredible baked goods and dinners etc. Personal favorites are the Whole Wheat bread, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Blueberry muffins. But many love the chicken pot pies and frozen dishes too. See if you can find the cat.More

Hungry Hollow is on Rte 26 in Paris, Maine. The proprietress, Shirley, is friendly and an excellent cook and baker. All her food is made in small batches and tastes homemade. Her chicken pot pie is loaded with chicken. She makes a fresh cranberry orange...relish that is a good go-with for the chicken pie. Her fruit pies have a flaky crust and often have a streusel topping. The mac and cheese, potato salad and cookies are favorites at our house. There is a freezer full of different kinds of soups. The tortilla soup and mushroom soups were both vegan. She has chicken, tuna and egg salads that you could buy, along with a loaf of her homemade bread and you’d have a terrific lunch. She has premade bags of all kinds of snack mixes and cookies-chocolate chip, oatmeal, oatmeal scotchie, ginger molasses, etc. This is the place to come if you want hearty food that is well made.More

This place is fabulous! Walking thru the door feels just like home. The fresh baked goods smell took me back to childhood meals and comfort. The owner was a delight and really knows how to make you feel welcomed. One stop shop for comfort and...care.More

Great place to find homestyle food like mom used to make . Gluten free , vegan . I like the hungarian mushroom soup , fudge & potatoe salad. You can find many frozen pre made meals and home canned goods. Fresh breads and desserts. Even...homemade dog treats. Take out only . No seating. They also sell gifts and natural medicines.More

The smell alone make this place worth the stop. But the taste of the fresh baked goods will keep you coming back again and again.

We stopped in here on our honeymoon. This is a quintessential country store in New England and we LOVED it! The baked goods are so delicious. We also purchased a take-home-and-heat macaroni and cheese that was scrumptious. Great place to go filled with country decor...and trinkets, plus lots of Maine-related gifts. There's a store kitty that wanders around that just adds to the environment. The woman who we spoke with at the counter was just as sweet as can be & gave us great tips on looking for moose. Will definitely return again!More

Situated in a centuries-old Cape by the side of the road, Hungry Hollow has everything a pastry lover might desire. There are all sorts of muffins and cupcakes, luscious berry pies and Maine's favorite dessert, the incredible whoopie pie, as well as the creamiest fudge...and even wheat-free peanut butter cookies. (Someone I know, ate 6 of them while driving to Boston one day...ahem!) For those with a heartier appetite there are great homemade breads and the most delicious yeast rolls as well as soups, pot pies and oh! so much more. This stop, across from Cooper Farms on Route 26, is an absolute must when traveling to or from Sunday River!More
