This was my first visit, even though I’ve been in Athens 30 years. Great service. Go inside, tell them what you want, give them a name and they bring it to you. The food is good! I had the Happy Top burger. Best burger i...have had in a while. Two companions had the pulled pork plate (comes with mac n cheese and slaw) —they said the bbq and mac n cheese were very good. Another companion had the ‘chicken sandwich’ and he said it was very tasty and “original.” They have three or four tables inside and about a dozen tables outside. I will definitely be going back.More

Hole in the wall and that says it all…they are the best places to eat!!! Decent portions and good food! We love the pork and chicken. The mac & cheese is fab and so are the grilled veggies. Are here a couple of weeks ago...with the hubby for lunch and we’ve been back twice since.More

A friend who lives in Athens highly recommended this place to us when I asked him about BBQ places in Athens. We ordered online, and the order said it would be ready at a certain time, so we planned around that time since the place...was on our way to our next appointment. However, when we arrived, the order was not ready. They weren't busy...like 6 other people were dining in. The staff were too busy carrying on a conversation and this affected their timeliness. Our order was ready about 15 minutes past the time the online ordering system told us, so we were late to our next appointment. Food- We've had better BBQ. The smoked chicken sandwich was good, but not great. The Barbarella was decent. However, there weren't many side options available and we got Mac and cheese and grilled veggies. Mac and cheese was just okay. As for the veggies- the broccoli was good, but how do cabbage and collard greens count as veggies one would grill? Banana pudding was alright. Honestly, there are better places to eat in Athens, especially ones that offer BBQ... I mean, this place doesn't even have fries or stew. Now, I am questioning my friend's taste in food.More

Great spot in a neighborhood to be out of the hustle and bustle. Outdoor picnic tables are a great nod to the food.

White Tiger is a cute little restaurant with outdoor seating at picnic tables. I understand this turns some people off, but we found it charming and fun. My portabella burger was excellent, and the side of mac and cheese was huge and shared between the...four of us. My husband’s fried tofu (made to look like a chicken patty sandwich) was tasty, and the other two dining with us were happy with their food as well. A large container of water inside that we refilled from multiple times kept us hydrated during our wait. Our only complaint: The night we were there , there was only one order taker/server and one person in the kitchen. There was a birthday party of about 12 people that apparently ordered just before us, so it took over an hour to get our four sandwiches. Thankfully, it was a beautiful night to sit outside. But the young man serving was adorable and gracious. And be sure to check out the jungle bathroom!More

With Gourmet in its name, I expected..well..gourmet. That’s not unreasonable. After all if you expect to see a super car like a McLaren, you expect just that, and not a million dollar Ford Fiesta. I’m sure the local neighborhood will take exception to this but...here it is. The Mac and Cheese is tasteless. The mac bits were overdone and the cheese had no flavor in it. The coleslaw is more pickled red cabbage than coleslaw, and bleeding purplish red. The pork barbecue was far right of North Carolina style and bathed in vinegar, but it was mildly smokey. The tomato soup seemed like the kind you get at Trader Joe’s or Fresh Market in a box, only not as good. And I thought it was nuked before being served. The burgers patties are decent, but a handful of field greens and a brushing of a nondescript tangy sauce doesn’t make something gourmet, unless that’s how it is in some parallel universe. Lastly, who puts pickles in pimento cheese?? Certainly not in the South. My biggest gripe however was the tea. Last time I checked, Georgia is a southern state. We pride ourselves in tea. The sweet tea was watered down and most decidedly NOT sweet. The unsweet tea was completely something else, like someone put two drops of some light brown liquid in some water and called it tea. See the picture and decide for yourself. The unsweet tea is the cup on the left that looks like stale PBR. Except it tastes like lightly flavored water. First and last time here.More

This was my second visit and it was just as good as the first. I like this place for brunch/breakfast. I will definitely return. Good food, laid back atmosphere, what’s not to like. Want to go back for lunch/dinner and try the barbecue.

I love when you drive up, and you smell the smoker and know how good it is going to be! and some nice seating in the yard with many picnic tables under the trees and the lighting for after dark...a great addition! My wifes Seared...Salmon salad was cooked perfectly, moist, wonderful, a very light vinaigrette. My son had the JASON, would suggest this with house smoked pork and smoked chicken and all the other goodies that made for an amazing sandwich. I had Goat Cheese burger, a nice 1/2 Lb. with generous goat cheese and plenty of nice leyyuce greens to top it off. the sweet treat at the end...complimentary homemade banana pudding that would have made Granny Carroll jealous...it was soooo good!More

They’ve got a whale of a bobbycue sammywich here named after her movie Barberella. Taint one thing dry about this bbq. More like a red beach au ju. It’s wet. Wetter than that quicksand that got the creature of the black lagoon. It’s not sinister...though. Not at all it’s delicious. There another bbq chain joint that had signs with their slogan on the wall, it’s gonna get messy in here. Jumping palominos dem boys ain’t never seen messy. The Barberella is one mo messy sandwich. Tasty yes, neat no. I had bbq sauce on my elbows. Meat would go better than 3/4 lb on that sandwich. Add sauce it’d weigh out better’n 16 oz. put it thus I didn’t need no potato salad. One piece of advice I should share though is that if you have pancakyfir breakfast don’t come here for lunch. Great meal, great service we cannot wait to returnMore

the barbecue looked stunningly delicious. i didn't order it. i would have ordered bobbycue had i seen it walk by before i ordered. it will be the opening act of the play, my life. i did have two of the better chili dogs it has...even been my pleasure to lay waste to inside. it was a premium weenie, nice pop, on a fresh bun that rode the chili well. the onions were cold, as were the pickles, and freshly chopped to a perfect chili dog sprinkling size. there might have been a touch of new madrid or new york, but's that's no fault of theirs. mrs bbq gave the pimento cheese on here burger raving reviews. it was ho made out of real cheese, lot of it and blended just right. if the washington monument had been made of cheese this stuff would have been shaped like the jefferson memorial with an obelisk. great service. smiling faces abound here. prices are reasonable. we had a great mealMore

Listen to me, do you remember that time you knew you should have packed an extra change of clothes but you didn’t and you fell in the lake and had to spend the rest of the day soaking wet? Well this is like that except...without clothes and a lake. I guess what I’m trying to say is, in your gut, you know this is the restaurant for you. I’ve eaten here. It’s wonderful. This off-the-beaten path and quaint place (a neighboring house has a well-endowed naked mannikin on the front porch). The friendly staff, and most reviews, suggest ordering the Barbarella which is a large BBQ on very good bread. It's pretty good BBQ, but mine was dripping...wet. The waitress brought 10 napkins with it, and I used nine.More

Ended up here because most places in Athens had wait times of over an hour. White Tiger Gourmet was crowded but the line moved fast and the food came out of the kitchen pretty quick. We ordered The Man and it was excellent. Eggs, BBQ...and home fries. Hot and tasty! Definitely will be back!More

It is unique that White Tiger has vegetarian options for BBQ- it definitely fills a niche. Meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans can go here and find something good to eat. It is fairly quick and casual. They do not have alcohol but you can bring your...own and sit outside. My tofu BBQ sandwich was really good, but it had way too many greens on it. It had so many greens that I couldn't even see the bottom bun before digging it out! The greens didn't add anything to the sandwich unfortunately. But the rest of it was good! Their sides are good too. The portion sizes are perfect- you won't feel like you have to take any home or risk wasting it.More
