Ordered a cake and the English accented man went into exaggerated mode to get the cake and had zero clue how to retrieve a bit of cake from the glass counter, I then asked for an alternative slice as the bit he got for me...was tiny and paying neat 5 Euro I want some value, he then told me he could not exchange the cake as he had put it on the plate!!!!! He was pure Basil Fawlty.... AFTER TRYING TO EMBARASS ME FURTHER he gave in and got the cake I requested having to remind him that I WAS PAYING and had the legal right to choose.... AvoidMore

On a wet and cold winter day, my adult children and myself headed out to travel through the Wicklow mountains. We had suffered a family bereavement and wanted to go back to places that created good memories for us, but sadly now as three and...not 4. Nothing could have prepared us for how we were treated. The attitude from the two men working there was shocking... Just following orders, no joke was used. We sat outside in the wind and rain, the area was not heated or covered in. The children didn't want to cause a fuss, so we sat and ate cold food. Disgusting behaviour, we didn't have time to explain why one in our group hadn't been jabbed, just told sit outside or leave. Well I will never return and will tell everyone I know about this experience.More

because there's not a huge amount of anything else in the area. Ripe for a renovation and/or simply improving the food and beverage quality, Staff always pleasant but not a place to go out of your way to.

Stopped of as part of a coach tour, great to us the toilets first. We then ordered a drink and a snack. Went upstairs to sit, that was nice and quiet. Had enough time to wander around and see what else was there.

Service ok. The cappuccino was nice - had two! However the chicken and stuffing wrap was awful- didn’t look like either was in the wrap! Stomach didn’t feel the best after.

Stopped here with a group of cyclists and found it fantastic. Fantastic building with amazing views when sitting outside on the decking. Nice craft shop inside and plenty of seating. Decent enough menu that is priced reasonably. Staff friendly and efficient. Highly recommend and definitely...will be back again.More

This is a very calm cafe, in an interesting location. You can visit the German cemetery across the road, or walk along the river. I have been here a number of times now, and all though the menu can be limited, I still like it.

My tenacity for quality, as evident throughout my dotted history of reviews, shall not yet be called into question, for the Armoury Café of this humble hamlet of Glencree has gone to quality and beyond. The café at first caught my perceptive grasp whence I...was returning from one of my famed traipses through a nearby forest while I mused over the intricate concerns of an enlightened gentleman such as myself. Such crucial questions. ranging wildly from "what happens after death" to "does Lightning McQueen need car insurance or life insurance". I can assure you, dear reader, my concerns are so utterly complex and mentally-stimulating, that I completely forgot about my trusty canine, who pounced on the opportunity and begun to roll through a substance most foul to the side of my tranquil little forest path. Why, it simply would not do... In her right state, this canine was simply far too filthy to grace the doors of a place of fine eatery, and I certainly was not going to leave her in my vehicle. That is the precise moment when the Armoury Café, and what a café it is, caught my perceptive eye and grasped my attentive... attention, for this Café, homely and tranquil, has quite the fondness for wayward canines. Indeed, I was permitted to take my canine, unkempt as it were, to the Café regardless. A table under the sun, surrounded by lush forest, with an atmosphere to match, and a curious canine at my side. It was truly something unforgettable. I still count myself lucky to this day that I had stumbled upon a café so fine and progressive as to permit my wayward canine to join me on the outside terrace. But of course, many of you are indifferent to this predicament, and would rather not be dogged by my furry friend. You're here for the food, and food you shall have! The BLT sandwich, delivered safe and sound. It arrived at my table with service profound. A leaf of lettuce, touch of tomato and bit of bacon, sandwiched neatly between two crusty slices of Ireland's finest. Oh, truly a sight, no-- truly a TASTE to behold, and behold you should, my friend. Now, for the less perceptive of you, the l'ambiance of this cozy café may not be immediately clear! But do not fret, for I can make it clear. As clear as a droplet of water, flowing through the Glencree river, and with fresh air as crisp as Tayto. All the warmth and comfort of a Christmas morning with all the heart of a devoted mother cooking for her ravenous sons. Forgive me, reader, for I hate to bring us back to this mortal coil for a matter as frivolous as money. Not as if the concept of money has any meaning for one such as myself, but the lesser fortunate may find themselves in "financial ire" shall we say. And for the ire'd of your ilk, rest easy, for the Armoury Café will not only provide value for your hard-earned money, but it will take you by the reins and steer you to a land where corporate greed and financial concerns simply don't exist. You'll forget all about your troubles when you first lay eyes upon the menu-- where the flavor is high and the prices low. *ahem* On a more positive note, intrepid reader. The surrounding area is undoubtedly a feature. Such a serendipitous landscape, as if God himself painted the most beautiful portrait he could, and decided at the decisive moment, "Lemme just make room for a café here so people can enjoy my work". God certainly works in mysterious ways, dear reader, but I can assure you, if he continues to work like this, we'll should be only the finest of friends. In fact, the portrait he hath painted is so alluring and beautiful that I found my idle musings to be hastened. The thought-provoking surroundings invoked only the most learned of ideas and only assisted in asserting my genius. I believe I might finally come up with the true meaning of life one day if I continue as such. 4000 characters down the line and one pleonasmic haze later, I finally come to my senses and realize: "What good is a review, without a haiku?" The finest of cafés sitting atop a river- I'll have a BLT please.More

The scenery around Glencree is amazing. You can get to Glencree by three routes. Via Enniskerry direct by Cardiac hill, a circuitous route from Enniskerry via the waterfall and Crone wood, or by the Military road. Whichever route you take there is a lot of...climbing. When you get to the Armoury Cafe the coffee and buns taste great to give you back some energy after cycling there. You will be surrounded by cyclists and hikers and perhaps tourists that have disembarked from a bus. Well worth a visit and it deserves reading the fascinating history of the buildings.More

Monday 1st May and we took a drive from Shankill through the Dublin/Wicklow Mountains and we stopped to visit the Glencree Reconciliation and Peace Centre which nestles in the beautiful Wicklow Mountains. While we were there we had lunch in the Armoury Cafe. The food...was very tasty, we ordered an egg mayonnaise sandwich, which was stuffed full, a BLT sandwich, delicious bacon and a "special" toasted goats cheese & peppers open sandwich served on a ciabatta with salad. We also ordered 1 coffee and 2 cappuccinos, the whole lot came to €23.70, not too bad. The staff were so polite, friendly and helpful, however the queuing for service was a bit chaotic it was a bit confusing no one was sure where the queue started or finished. One of the features in the cafe is the Peace Blanket, it hangs on the back wall of the cafe near the outdoor seating area. The blanket is made up of squares that have been given to the centre by victims of violence. It is very thought provoking and worth a look. There was loads of seating including an outdoor decked seating area, to sit and enjoy the delightful scenery.More
