What a lovely welcome back to France! High quality food at reasonable prices just over the border from Belgium and a short detour from the motorway north of Lille for anyone travelling to/from North Sea ferry ports. For lunch you can have a 20-euro ‘menu...express’ with a choice of two plats de jour and a coffee with three mini-desserts. Today’s choice was duck a l’orange or salmon with beurre blanc - both excellent. Kids were offered carbonara pasta or a choice of half-portion mains from the 3-course menu. Eight-year-old had cod with risotto, ten-year-old had the pasta and they cleared their plates with gusto. After desserts - ice cream cones for the boys - we had a taste of homemade marshmallows flavoured with liquorice and pistachio. Delightful.More

Very good welcome by a sufficient number of well trained and enthusiast young staff and by the lady of the house. The restaurant is modern and large, you never feel overcrowded. We received some free appetizer and a mini fennel soup, very tasty. We took...the Menu Plaisir which is a very good value of EURO 36; being a group of 3, we were able to taste all options, which were all very tasty, well cooked and abundant. The chocolate pie was fantastic. I took a wine pairing at EURO 15, you receive a white and a red at discretion, and the red complemented superbly the steak. Go for the ultimate cheese tray indulgence, with a large assortment of cheese you cannot find in shops, served first class style. So in total, a fine dining experience for a very reasonable price.More

My friends and me went at "La Baratte". The boss has welcomed us very well. We were well placed and served in time. For the food, it was very delicious especially the beef. Before eat, we has nibbles and pre-dinner drink. Very good atmosphere! It...was quite expensive but it was really delicious.More

Delicious food served with utmost attention to flavour, quality and texture. The 3 course menu was well balanced and consisted of a variety of offerings. The menu was reasonably priced and restaurant itself comfortable and inviting. The flavoured house made marshmallow at the end was...a special treat. Would definitely recommend if coming to Lille, as is only 15 mins by car from the city centre.More

Had the aperitif in the garden as the weather was pleasant. The garden was nice and well kept. Was served amuse bouche with the aperitif. Everything was tasty and well presented. We chose to have dinner in the restaurant. The decor was nice and the...tables were well spaced. The food was tasty and well presented. Service was extremely friendly except for the younger guy who needed to relax a bit. All in all a good experience. Would definitely go back and recommendMore

It wasn't our first experience in this restaurant. Several experiences in the past years but for dinner, not for lunch. The service was good though the restaurant was quite busy .Fortunately, the sun was shining and we could eat in the garden. Nice! But quite...disappointed by the food.More

You really need to know where you are going to find this restaurant. It is out of the main way but worth a visit. The decor is nice but could be improved. The service is not exceptional, depending on who is serving you. The food...is great though, a wonderful surprised. We had the set anniversary menu and it was just delicious and great value. The wine was perfect; the turbot with mushroom sauce delicious and the desert excellent. A great surprise for a wonderful evening.More

The frequently described cheese trolley is only beaten by the amazing tiramisu. Passionate staff led by the restaurant owner makes this a truly memorable experience. Highly recommended

You have to go out of your way to find this place and Tourcoing is not a tourist destination but if you are in lille or neighborhood towns, it is well worth a detour. The bajeux family has been at the helm for two generations.... Decor has been updated and food is traditional French with a twist. Excellent, fresh ingredients and reasonably priced.More

Located in a nondescript suburb of Lille, this fabulous restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is delicious, the service pleasant and professional, and the setting relaxing. Look out for the cheese tray witrh its 35 or so varieties. It's very reasonably priced, to boot....A culinary experience!More

A friend found this restaurant during a stay in Roubaix. At first the location is very disconcerting - it does not feel like it is in a good part of town. Once inside we could only speak highly of this restaurant. The food is beautifully...presented and tasty and the prices very reasonable (we tried the menu where different glasses of wine are included with each course). The ambience/decor is fresh and modern. Service levels make the difference too - the service is very good and further enhanced by small touches - not just canapes as you wait for your started but complementary coffee in the reception area as we waited for our taxi at the end. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant.More
