Food was inventive and delicious. The bread was outstanding. Service was spot on. The ambiance was cosy but it was slightly cold.

A very simple excellent cuisine prepared with fresh local products. A great choice of wines. And a very nice, professional service by the owner herself.

We enjoyed a lovely, quiet, romantic dinner here on a warm summer evening. There are not very many tables so it is absolutely necessary to reserve in advance, but it's worth planning ahead to get to dine here! The hostess and owner Agnes is delightfully...friendly and warm. She took excellent care of us and made us feel very welcome. They have an amazing choice of fine wine, and Agnes helped us choose the perfect wine for our meal. We enjoyed the chef's surprise menu and each course was a delight. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible which we appreciated. The decor is lovely, including an antique wine decanter in the shape of a duck, which we named Duchess Canardine de Decanteur, and we learned that it was a gift from Agnes as a young girl to her grandmother, and now it stands in a place of honor in the restaurant.More

This was our first dinner of month-long travels in the area and so it also was our first experience of an excellent new, post-Covid model for outstanding small restaurants. Chef Charly and everything else Agnes provide remarkably fresh, personally prepared and beautifully presented dishes from...a limited set menu for a small number of tables and lucky diners. Wine list also is short but well chosen and well priced...as was the 40-yr-old Calvados that capped our evening. Absolutely everything was spectacular -- including the gracious, cozy atmosphere. Our favorite was the almost foam-like, ultra-fine shaving of Jamon Iberico de Bellota. We subsequently learned that this small-is-beautiful model now is used by many exceptional chefs throughout France to allow them to show their creative talents and break the economic grip of scale. Go to relax and enjoy.More

Came here for dinner with friends. Nice ambiance and the (sole) waitress was efficient and welcoming. Started with scallops that were great. But the mains took a very long time to come. When they finally did, they were quite good. Pork belly, quail and pollock....Pollock was under-seasoned but otherwise good. Chocolate mouse for dessert was yum. Too bad the kitchen was so slow.More

The only person that we saw working in the restaurant was the hostess/waitress. I assume she is the wife of the chef, who we didn't see. The food was very good and I debated giving the restaurant 5 stars. However I was disappointed in the...wine. She gave me the smallest pour I received during my trip in French. I thought she was giving me a taste to sample. Although the one waitress was pleasant and efficient the atmosphere seemed a little frantic as she rushed around the dining room.More

One of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. Beautiful, cosy, characterful setting - super friendly and knowledgeable host. We had the tasting menu, which was superb and a couple of amazing bottles of wine.

We went to this lovely restaurant based on our hosts recommendation. We were advised to book a few weeks in advance in order to secure a booking and we were so pleased to have done so as they were fully booked. The service was super...friendly and efficient. It is a small restaurant but the attention to detail was exceptional. The food was amazing with unusual combinations that worked so well. Truly delicious. We left feeling like we had been treated very well and given an exceptional meal.More

We visited Beaune as a family of 5 with the youngest daughter of 12 years. We wanted to have dinner and read lots of lovely reviews so we decided to see the place. We didn’t have a reservation so we weren’t terribly surprised when they...said they are fully booked ( we came there around 19:10, the restaurant opened at 19). I came back 1,5 hours later as I wanted to book a table for the next day - when I arrived, only three tables were taken and the rest was untouched - set for dinner, untouched napkins etc. the waitress told me that everything was “fully booked” for the next day( Friday) as well and for Saturday AND Sunday, nothing available. As the restaurant was still empty as we asked about the reservation it seemed as if the problem was not necessarily the places available but unfortunately the prejudice directed towards foreigners. If you are looking for a lovely place to have a family dinner or a date with your loved ones. I would not recommend wasting your precious time, positive emotions, and a nice atmosphere on trying to simply be welcomed here at “ Le Relais de Saulx”.More

A lovely atmosphere! Upon arrival we were greeted by Agnes very friendly and personable. She made you feel at home! We love the smaller restaurants! This is a hidden gem! We did the Chef’s tasting! What an excellent choice and over the top!Excellent choice of...wines! We went with one of her choices. It was excellent ! I loved their gin and tonic! She took the time and gave us the email of the person that makes the gin. Our food was served in a timely and relaxing manner! This would be one of my top restaurant if visiting!More

This restaurant, run by chef Charley and Front of House Agnes, is wonderful. The food is classic yet inventive and the service first class. You're not rushed and are able to relax, enjoy the atmosphere and the great wines that Agnes knows so well. A...great find in Beaune, we just hope it doesn't become too popular and we can't visit again.More

Had dinner at this place on recommendation of a friend. Small menu, only 3 starters, main courses and deserts to choose from. But what an excellent quality! My eggs with mushrooms were excellent, and my main course, a whole pigeon, was fantastic. Finished the meal...with an excellent strawberry desert. Great wine list with prices reasonable according to Beaune standards. Great service. Friendly, smooth and very knowledgeable. This restaurant is operated by only 2 people, a chef and his partner. A small restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. Will certainly come back.More

We happened upon this restaurant while wandering around Beaune and loved it. The women who was our server was so friendly, giving us tips on other areas where we’d visit, as well as giving us lots of information about the food we were eating. She...gave us a lot of suggestions for eating out in France and was so friendly. The food here was obviously made by someone who really cares about making exceptional food.More

This was the second of three excellent meals in Beaune. This smart restaurant turns out superb food with a matching wine list. The ambience is very good & Agnes who runs front of house is most welcoming. Her wine knowledge & recommendations top notch. A...small restaurant, bookings recommended. You can book online. Not open weekends.More
