My family and I temporarily relocated to Brooklyn to help during the COVID 19 crisis. The staff have been more than amazing! John and Joey have been so helpful during our stay. We haven’t met an employee that hasn’t been great to us. Everyone is always willing to help. The rooms are so spacious and housekeeping does a fabulous job keeping this hotel clean. The breakfast is always perfectly set up and it’s so nice to grab a bite and a cup of fresh coffee in the morning. This hotel also has a great location! I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again!

My best friend wanted to plan a birthday getaway to NYC for my birthday and began looking at hotels. Ultimately, she chose the Brooklyn because it was cheaper than the other options and was very up our alley with beautiful decor. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the scent of essential oils as well as Eli who was at the front desk. We LOVED the essential oil diffusers and the decor did not disappoint. Eli was so wonderful, he always had a smile on his face and even gave us a hug as we were waiting on the curb the next morning for an Uber. His cheery demeanor and hospitality really made our stay so much better. The room was unbelievable and we were jumping up and down at how much we loved it!! Beds were comfortable, lots of room and We loved the big windows especially because they open and we were able to get some fresh air. Later that night after coming home from a concert, we were looking for ice and Jonathan was at the front desk and able to help us. He was so sweet and made amazing conversation with us and kept us entertained even at midnight. We didn’t get to try the free breakfast because we decided to sleep in late on my birthday but I’m sure it was great. We were greeted by the manager the next morning, John, and he was so sweet and accommodating. I demanded to take a survey and I told him to give me the names of every single person that was on shift since we arrived because I wouldn’t feel right not recognizing them for their amazing hospitality. Even as we were leaving and had already checked out, Mark at the front desk was giving us amazing recommendations for our next stay for cake and steak. I will only be staying at the Brooklyn for future trips to New York city and the surrounding area. Thank you all so much for making our trip truly wonderful and we will be back to see all of you very soon!

You only need to walk a block or two in almost any direction to be strolling down a brownstone lined street. The hotel itself is modern and has all of the high end appointments of a luxury hotel. The service was friendly and professional. The location on Atlantic Ave puts you close to Barkley Ctr, the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, and a quick few stops to lower Manhattan. Many great restaurants nearby in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill and BedStuy. Will definitely stay again.

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in a while. The housekeeping was nonexistent. I was told housekeeping only cleans the rooms AFTER check out. No beds were made, no trash taken out, no vacuuming while we were there. I find this to be unacceptable for any hotel that bills itself as luxury and accommodating. I was a guest yet I was not treated as one. We could hear housekeeping ramming the vacuum into the walls early in the morning in other rooms yet we could not get service while we stayed there. We asked for additional towels to be delivered but that turned out to be an unreasonable request as there was only one person on-site. We had to walk down to the lobby and retrieve them. There were stains on the wall and furniture. The handle on one of the drawers fell of when someone bumped into it. The shower knob came out of the socket, rendering it useless from switching the shower from rainfall. The hotel staff said no one was available to repair it but we could use the shower in a different room. The inconvenience was astronomical and beyond comprehension. Because the hotel was booked through Booking, the hotel staff believed they could not help with any of these complaints. According to Joey, the manager, the hotel is working with a skeleton crew. In a nutshell that means you’re on your own. The manager was not helpful and in my opinion needs to be replaced. I understand the pandemic caused financial strain in every industry but hotels should have also used that time to fix all their issues since guests weren’t in the way. This hotel was a self service hotel with a hefty price tag. Breakfast was supposed to be include me in my package, that didn’t happen. Not even a prepackaged donut was available. The shower door was off track so I told JOEY about it , he said someone would fix it which they did but the door wouldn’t completely come together. Five days of motel treatment. I would not recommend anyone spend money with this hotel, it’s not worth it at all.

My experience at the Brooklyn Hotel was AWFUL. There were so many issues with my room and the out of control guests yet the bigger issue was that the staff was powerless to address any guest issues as the manager gives them no authorization to handle guest issues. And the manager refused to lift a finger himself or empower his staff to do help guests. During my stay, the entire hotel except 2 rooms, mine + 1 other on a different floor, was rented by a group of foreign10th grade students. The biggest problem was that the hotel manager did so KNOWING that all the chaperones were booked at a completely different hotel. So zero supervision or control. These very unruly & inconsiderate children slammed doors, blasted their music with their hotel room doors open so as to hv a party in the hallway until 5:00 am. The manager never bothered to inform his staff of the chaperone-less children nor a plan (contact info for the chaperones)in the likely event that 30 teenagers would need supervision. The next morning, the manager never even apologized to me even thoughI spoke to him face to face. He remained silent & tried to look away. Another big issue was there were issues with the shower, the temperature control & the tv. I will never stay at the Brooklyn Hotel, Atlantic Avenue ever again.

We booked this hotel for two nights since we had a function to go to in the vicinity. We were told hotel was renovated and all rooms came with coffee machine, hair dryer. The lobby was a total dump with ripped couches. The room looked nice, but drawers in night table must not have been cleaned for weeks. Coffee machine was broken. There was no hair dryer. Upon request, I was told they were backordered and should arrive in the next few days. That was not exactly useful to us. The shower handle was not functioning and we were told repair could occur only in the afternoon eventhough we were going to be out the whole morning and wanted to rest prior to the function in the afternoon. Also toilet was leaking all noght and flushing improperly. The room was overlooking the above ground part of the subway so we heard trains regularly. Te light in the entrance of our room was flickering. Since we did not get a hair dryer, I had to plead and beg to get extra towel for my longue hair. Also they refused to clean the room while we were out, said they had no one available until the afternoon, so even though we were out from 9 to 2 they would have accommodated us only once we needed to rest. When we came back on the 26 from our brunch we were locked out of our room. By mistake, they had changed our card lock. They claimed we kept our cards with our phones, except, I never ever do that, always keep magnetized cards and car keys and phones separate from each other. Contrary to what they said, the hotel was far from full. While hand sanitizers were placed strategically, every single one of them was empty. People coming in and out of this place looked very shady and not sure if they were even clients. A scum place. We were there from Sunday to Tuesday July 25-27.

Booked a room at this hotel online. We arrived and checked in and were given a room on the ground floor. When we got to the room, however, there was a very loud, repetitive, nonstop squeaking noise coming from the AC vent. When we complained the woman at the front desk admitted she knew about the noise and there was nothing they could do, the whole ground floor is like that, and that was the only available room. She later admitted that her manager has instructed her to deliberately NOT inform guests booking or checking in about the noise problem. The noise was intolerable for sleeping, working, relaxing, anything. We ended spending about an hour on the phone to cancel the room and get a refund, and then we had to find another place to stay. I guess all the good reviews of this hotel are from people who didn’t have rooms on the ground floor. On a side note, I was disappointed in the hotel quality- a lot of the furniture in the room and the lobby was cheap looking up close or old and falling apart. Our room was also right on the sidewalk and the hotel is right next to the highway. Overall a very disappointing and frustrating experience.

Spent 4 nights at The Brooklyn last week (1/7-1/11) - my third visit to the property. I must echo some of the previous comments regarding housekeeping, and what is apparently a too-small housekeeping staff to efficiently service all of the rooms in a timely manner. My room was only serviced once (the 2nd day) during the time I stayed, and that was only after one nice request by me (10 AM the second day as I was leaving) and one much more insistent demand at about 4 PM that same day, when I arrived back to find the room still unattended to. They need to do much better in this department, as I have no other complaints about The Brooklyn. I like the neighborhood, convenience to transit, etc. Even don't mind the LIRR running down the middle of Atlantic Avenue right outside my room.

This hotel is great and low key I like the way they are very helpful and quiet. This is a great place to come if you want to experience a good hotel with a great size of room and comfort. I’ll recommend for everyone to come.

It pains me to give this place such a negative rating as we used to enjoy staying here. The clerk seems to be the only employee and sits behind bullet proof glass. There was a bum sleeping on the lobby couch and the entire place smells of Marijuana. The room was minimally furnished without even a chair for one of us to sit in, we had 1 glass for 2 people, 1 cup for coffee, etc. The elevator was broken so we had to haul suitcases down 4 flights of stairs. I know COVID was hard on the industry and do feel for them, but whomever owns this property either needs to invest or the property should close.
