We spent a total of 4 hours between check in and check out waiting in front of an empty reception desk. This hotel is perpetually unstaffed. Our room was not ready 2.5 hours after check in, and our deposit was charged twice. Overly expensive, unacceptably unmanned, and unreliable. Would not wish this experience on my worst enemy. If you’re looking for a cheap hotel, look elsewhere. There is no direct contact with this location via phone or otherwise and the off site customer service was of no help. Do NOT stay here.

The room was filthy and we saw some cockeroches on the floor. The stairs and corridors were very unclean. You can see a pool on pictures but it's close (and the inside area was very unclean too). Nobody at the reception when we left at 9h30. Worst hotel room we had in 3 weeks on the road. Will never go back.

Horrible ! Negative stars need to be an option. I booked through hotel.com and after driving 6 hours to get there the hotel had no front desk attendant and was closed.(To my surprise because I’ve never seen a hotel close much less not have someone in the front desk) All that was left there was an emergency contact number. Which was called, and when the night manager was contacted he instantly told me I had no reservation. Then as I told him I have all the Confirmation emails he shows up on the property to tell me there nothing he can do and that he did not know how to use the system. Then the next morning after having to sleep in the car. The hotel opens past its opening time with a line at the door waiting for assistance. When they finally opened, The front desk attendant very rudely said that the reservation was canceled. When I don’t know how because no one was there to even cancel it. While waiting the other guest were telling me how they had roaches in the sheets. And another gentlemen had no sheets at all and when he asked for them they were told they would be brought. Later to find out they were never bringing them and they closed the front. The hotel And hotel.com and do not want to issue a refund. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND HOTEL.COM. SCAMMERS THAT HAVE NO ISSUE TAKING YOUR MONEY BUT HABE ISSUES RETURNING IT. THEY BOTH NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN.

So I wasn’t going to say anything because I knew it’s my fault 🤦‍♂️ picking a bad hotel but omg, I woke up twice to bug’s crawling on me that I killed, and the bathtub is a story on its own 😞 the staff was very Nice I would suggest they need to spray down the rooms with bug spray please for the next person and clean the tub better because I was about to clean it myself.

Fountain Inn, South Carolina54 contributions56 helpful votes
We were on our way home to South Carolina. We were hungry and tired after a wonderful little trip to Seaworld and the Orange Blossom Opry for a couple of concerts. We pulled off the freeway and chose this hotel, It looked decent and not too expensive. The lady that greeted us was very pleasant, and gave us recommendations of where to eat! After a wonderful meal nearby, we came back to the hotel to find our room. WOW!!! What a beautiful place!! It was magical!!! There was an amazing pool in the courtyard, everything was so beautifully done! It looked elegant and yet inviting!!! It was truley lovely!! A wonderful surprise!! When we got to our room, it was beautiful!! It even had lights beside the bed that had reading lights that shone down on just what we were reading!! It was so clean and the bed was so comfortable!! The pillows were great!! We were in heaven!! We could not have been more pleased!!! There were a couple of kids running around laughing in the courtyard, we figured they would settle down eventually and they did. And then.... the phone in the hotel room rang for no reason just after we had dozed off. Not a biggie. Then.... about 10:30 we were awakened in a start to what sounded like a man in our bathroom yelling and swearing. He was not in our bathroom, but a room nearby. This continued until 3:30 in the morning, when it finally seemed to stop. We woke up at 5:00 to leave the hotel and continue on our journey home. I told the man at the front desk how beautiful this hotel was and how comfortable and clean everything was. I also told him about the man that was screaming and cussing throughout the night. He said "yeah, I had to remove him from his room. He was directly above you" He made no effort to compensate us in any way, or even offer an apology. It is so sad, this is a beautiful hotel and I believe that if you stay, this won't happen to you, but the walls do seem to be very easy to hear through.

The first issue I had with this facility started a week prior to my arrival. I called multiple times and stayed on the line for several minutes each time but was unable to speak with anyone as no one would answer. Therefore I couldn’t confirm my reservation that was made by a boss. I then called Choice and they confirmed my reservation. I asked them to make my room a double queen if possible and they said it was done. I then attempted multiple times to reach the facility by phone but all attempts failed. When I arrived at the facility and spoke with the front desk I was told that my room was a king. I explained the situation and she stated that the double queens were now all booked and I could not have one. She was professional and polite. They placed me on the back of the hotel. The room had recently been remodeled. The new headboard, nightstands, Tv stand etc looked nice. The tile was nice but the install was sloppy . The floors were dirty; we walked barefoot in the room and it turned our feet black. The toilet had black hairs on it. When I took a shower the water was hot and the pressure was nice. I opened a towel to dry off. Upon opening the towel I found long black curly hair resembling pubic hair. I then attempted to use the other towel. It also had black hair in it as well. This place lacks cleanliness. As previous reviewers have stated the walls are thin and you can hear cars cranking in the middle of the night. The breakfast is your normal choice hotel breakfast; there is no dinner even though it is advertised. The pool is extremely cold. It’s not advertised as heated; but it should be said that the water felt like it was about 64-68 degrees. The pool however has a whole other issue that is far worse. There is an exposed 00 electrical wire that connects to a light in the deep end. The wire is in its sheathing but still; it’s just begging for an accidental electrocution to occur. I would not recommend this hotel.

Well it's a good thing for older places to reinvest and do some updates. We were given a room at the back of the hotel that was updated. The rooms on either side were used for construction storage. We felt like we were in the construction zone. The upgrades were nice but professional finishes lacked. There was glue still on the flooring and paint splattered around. Poor quality construction in general but granite tops and nice features for an older building. The walls were paper thin and when someone is talking outside the room it sounds like they were in the room. We were just staying overnight so it was ok but I was going to really slam it on this review. In the morning I went through the door to the pool area for coffee and breakfast and came away with another opinion. That area is really nice if you are lucky enough to get a room there. There seemed to be many open so I'm not sure why we were given a room where we were. The breakfast area was the nicest I've seen although a couple construction workers were capitalising on the eats. No problem as there was enough to go around. The place is convenient off the beltway west but nothing but a couple fast-food joints around if you want to eat.

Stayed at this hotel while in town for the Gator Bowl. Booked this hotel specifically for the INDOOR POOL thinking my 10 year-old would enjoy swimming during the day. First got to the room late in the evening to discover the dead-bolt lock on the door didn’t work. I called the front desk and had to explain what the dead-bolt lock was and was informed “maintenance will come tomorrow to fix it.” Maintenance never came during our stay. The next morning my daughter woke up excited to get in the pool. We ate breakfast and she quickly put in her swimsuit and we proceeded to the nice atrium area to the pool. I reached down and put my hand in the water...it was FREEZING! My daughter insisted on getting in and stayed in the pool a total of 5 minutes before she got too cold. As we were leaving the pool area, a hotel employee said “Man, that water is cold isn’t it? It would be really nice if it were heated.” We stayed 2 nights while in Jacksonville. Our room was never cleaned by house keeping, we never received clean towels, and we took out our own trash. Overall, the hotel is a place to sleep and convenient to the interstate, but DON’T plan to use the pool.

Just needed a room for one night to break up a long rode trip to Panama City Beach Fl. This hotel was just fine for what I needed. The front desk staff where friendly and quick to check me in. I had a room on the inside area with views of the atrium. The room was pleasant and clean. It is an older hotel so there are a few cosmetic things that could be fixed but overall i was pleased with room. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Ate breakfast and it had the standard fare of eggs and sausage, waffles etc... I wouldn’t hesitate staying here again if ever in the area. I was in room 208.

I knew in advance that renovations were ongoing, but after calling ahead the hotel assured me that there is no impact to the guests. I thought the atrium was such a good idea when visiting during Florida's rainy season, my daughter and granddaughter could come and play and swim, or so I thought. First, the grounds are very pretty, convenient to hwy and the staff were very nice. The atrium was nice but had a strong odor of varnish/painting that was going on, which was actually fine because they did say they were renovating. My 1st room (room #1) was ground floor like I requested, and very nice. I unpacked and got ready for bed, watched a bit of TV and kept hearing really loud laughing from the connecting door area. Again, no biggee, they have to sleep sometime, right? Then the acrid smell of marijuana started seeping under the connecting door into my room. I put up with it for awhile and then got dressed and went to the front desk. They were very apologetic and said they would move me….unfortunately they only had 2nd story rooms left. I have RA and stairs and heavy bags are hard for me to deal with, but it wasn’t their fault. Settled into (room #2) and settled in, bed was comfy, pillows were ok. Woke up to a slightly stuffy room and the air conditioner didn’t seem to respond to controls. As I left for lunch, I asked front desk if they could send someone to check it out. While at lunch I received a message that the hotel needed to move me to a different room because the air conditioner was broken. So I was moved again (room #3), to another 2nd floor room and later that night when I returned for the night I noticed that the new room was a little stuffy and turned the air conditioner lower, I woke up at 4:45 to a room that was 78 and sooo hot! Packed up all my stuff and went down to front desk, told them about the air conditioner in the new room wasn’t working either, she then told me that it must be the renovations and the workmen must have messed something up….the phone in the room didn’t work either and the light in the bathroom kept flashing. They again moved me, (room #4) this time to an outside room, clear in the back with no inside access to pool or breakfast. I said fine, whatever, took the key and started walking back when I stopped dead, turned around and told them to just check me out and cancel the rest of my reservations. I don’t know how I feel about choice hotels ….and quality inn especially, anymore. On the plus side they only charged me for 1 day instead of two, but I was amazed they even charged me for that. Glad they let me cancel the rest of the days though.
