Went to Leavenworth during Oktoberfest . . . Without a reservation! Helpful lady at the Chamber of Commerce called-in a favour and secured the last room . . . I think it was the owners suite, 'cuz he spent the night in his holiday trailer! Definitely will stay here again . . .

We were looking for someplace that was quiet and not right in the town of Leavenworth. We found the perfect property to stay at the Ponderosa Country Inn! It's off season so we had the place to ourselves. Brenda was wonderful to work with and we felt right at home. Any of the rooms would have been comfortable and cozy to stay in. We stayed upstairs in the master bedroom which had a king size bed and a full. There was a sitting area with two arm chairs to sit and read. Because it was off season we didn't have breakfast but we enjoyed the canned peaches that Brenda canned from the fruit from their farm! The leaves were changing color, the deer walked around the property and the rustic feel of all the wood make our visit to get the fall experience of Washington complete by staying here.

Mother's day away from Seattle rain and into the sunshine but where to stay that doesn't cost a fortune! My son and I found this place on the web and read the reviews. called Brenda and she was so nice, we decided the photos look good, and we liked the country style and the fact it was a little away from the heart of the town (1.2 miles!). since it was off season we didn't get to have breakfast but everything we needed was there, plus a jar of delicious peach preserve from Brenda and Frank's orchard. If you are looking for a true "country inn" this is your place if you are looking for 600 Egyptian cotton sheets and towel stay at the Ritz. We felt the place was very safe and loved the country style. My only suggestion is if you are picky on what you sleep on bring your own sheets (we did) and it was great. Thanks Brenda and Frank for hosting us, hope to come back again soon.

Just what we were looking for. Close to town yet a nice quite getaway. I had heard about this from a friend at work. The reservation was very nice. The women gave us multiple choices to pick from. Nice to find people that are still willing to give you a deal. Excellant enviornment for relaxation. This home with log cabin feel inside gives you that detachment from your everyday life that you are looking for. The staff was very helpful. We also got to meet the oweners daughter and family. My wife and I felt that to get a better deal for the no breakfast was quite nice. We where able to make our own breakfast. I couldn't wait to cook on this Giant gas stove. They gave us the run of the house and the property. It was like being in your own home. we happened to be the only ones their so it was quite nice. The daughter I think here name was Amy and her husband where not on site. This made the stay much more relaxing do to the fact we could relax like at home. I would stay here again in a heart beat. I did read the other review. I guess that my wife and I are just not so paranoid or up tight. thanks for reading. Lost In Leavenworth

First the good stuff...This was a lovely setting in the pines, and off the beaten path. The master suite was very comfortable with a king-size bed that provides a restful night of sleep. The ceiling and rafters/beams throughout most of the house are polished log beams, along with the stairway and lower level rooms. Very charming and cozy. A beautiful stone-surround fireplace welcomed us with a ready-made fire when we arrived late in the afternoon--a nice touch for any B & B. A spacious and well-apportioned kitchen had the look and feel of a relaxed and cozy home. And the reasons not to stay here--at least not during the "off season"... The Ponderosa Country Inn was a comfortable place to sleep, but the owners were in Mexico, leaving their daughter's family in charge of reservations and accomodations. Breakfast was therefore not offered (!) at this B & B. For a lesser fee, payment in cash was accepted "under the table," no receipt, no paper trail. (Hmmmm.) There were no locks on the bedroom doors; doors that were made of rough plank boards, knot-holes included. There was no key offered for the front door either--it was to be left unsecured at all times for anyone (guests or not) to enter and leave by. The owners' daughter explained that her family lives at least twenty minutes away, so no one was present to oversee the functioning of this "establishment" while we were guests. One other couple stayed in the inn the same night that we did. Needless to say, one would have to feel very comfortable with the absence of security measures while staying at a stranger's house with other strangers, which is exactly how it felt to us. It was an odd stay in a lovely setting, with an anxious sort of feeling throughout the 16 hours that we were there. Perhaps if we had been guests there at the time of year when the owners were actually present to provide hospitality and the hearty breakfast meal that the web site boasts, we would have a more glowing recommendation. This was not the case and we will not be repeat visitors to the Ponderosa Country Inn.

We were trying to make sure this guest received a great deal on her room and we don't understand the negative feedback from her. It is very hard to "PLEASE" everyone. She was told upfront that the owners were away and that we would be there to greet her and show her around and answer any questions she may have and she seemed very happy. We gave her a rate of $85.00 a night which included the tax. she was asked if she would like to pay by cash, check or credit card and she said cash. I was more than willing to give her a receipt if she would have asked. The owners B&B is a very nice log home nestled in the trees about 2 miles from Leavenworth on 3 plus acres and we have had many returning guests year after year for the last 10 plus years that we have been in business, so to have 1 unhappy guest is a pretty good track record. We have very reasonable rates for Leavenworth. I wish this guest would have not chosen to stay if she was this unhappy. Thank you.
