Arrived about 9:30 pm on a Sat. evening. Had to phone the reservation number because the owner didn't answer our knock or doorbell or our call from the phone set on a stool outside the door. We were late to the 10 pm laser show on the dam down the hill because the owner wanted our credit card first of all, and had trouble making the charge. He was not welcoming at all. Our 1st floor room was small and had a fridge, microwave, its own entrance, and a lot of small black bugs in the corners. (No bugs in the bed and the sheets were clean.) The bathroom was dirty. Hair & grime in tub. There were 2 bottles of hand soap but no bath soap, no shampoo, and no kleenex. There was a bottle of Suave conditioner someone had left. The handtowels, bathtowels, and washcloths were the smallest, thinnest ones I'd ever seen. They should've been dish rags. There was an open air-conditioning vent to the closed closet. The decor upstairs and downstairs was 1960's -1970's. At breakfast, orange juice & coffee were provided. A bowl of warm applesauce with cinnamon, and a plate containing a waffle and a slice of pressed ham was placed in front of us. (I don't eat ham.) The owner, who walks with a limp, went and sat in the living room a few feet away and watched TV while we ate rather than talk to us. We were charged $92 for one night. The owner said, " I only do this for 4 months of the year, then I get my house back!" I gave him a few suggestions such as providing the customary amenities, nice towels, and checking the work of his housekeeper. If he does this, it should be a decent place to stay even with the stuffed cayote inside near the door. It was a far cry from the "Toad Hall Manor B&B" we stayed at in Butte, MT two nights before.

I Reserved a Room at the Gold House Inn over the phone for the night of July 30th, 2008, for my parents, they were visiting me for 2 weeks and wanted to see the Grand Coulee Dam and watch the nightly Laser Show on the dam. I couldn't get away from work... and didn't want to have them drive back to Royal City, WA. after the show. I heard from a buddy who fishes at one of the lakes around the dam that this place is the cheapest one in town during the Summer on weekdays... Good enough for me... (Well the owner did sound nice and was very helpful with explaining directiions over the phone.) It turns out that they had a marvelous time... The Gold House Inn's Owner gave them many helpful hints to make the most of their Grand Coulee Dam experience. (Apparently they drove around to various Historical Sites and Points of Interest around the area.) Dad said the B&B was easy to find... only 1/2 mile East on Hwy 174 from junction 174/155 in Grand Coulee. Mom said the room was cool and clean, theirs had a TV and Mini Fridge... the Breakfast was filling.... (Mom brought me back a big slice of cooked Ham from breakfast... thought I could make a sandwich with it... I did... It was good.) Now Mom and Dad got My interest piqued... so I am now looking forward to spending sometime in the Coulee... and if I stay overnight.... I will do it at the Gold House Inn B&B. We recently stayed at the Gold House Inn bed and breakfast in Grand Coulee. It was a strange experience. The place was fairly clean although the rugs were very old and not too clean. A deck with a view of Grand Coulee had the curtains drawn on it for the reason that the deck was covered with old appliances and garbage. The sole manager of the inn was less than welcoming. The breakfast was very minimal. We would never stay here again. Skip this place and stay in a local motel.
