On our way south, we stopped at this campground overnight. The road getting into and out of the campground was very steep. The campground itself was extremely neat and clean. The staff was extremely friendly.
We found this campground midway point in our travels for 3 weeks to allow us to hike many State Parks. In order to make a reservation you must call. There is no email confirmation. There are daily, weekly and monthly rates. This is a stoping point between I-88/I77. GPS works great for getting here. This is not a park for the faint of heart. Its very steep getting into and out of the campground. The park has many long term folks who work in the area. The park owners work hard in keeping the place mowed and edge. Some highlights of the park are, a beautiful river down below. You can go tubing down the river or fish. On the south side of the property, there is a huge field, that the birds love and has large gazebo/covered patio, which many people use to have their weddings. There is all kinds of wildlife here. Each morning we would have the rabbits or chipmunks come to our site. So many beautiful birds. The weather was pretty nice most of the time. Much better than Florida humid days. The road into the campground is all gravel and the dust is extremely high. Your coach and car will be covered in dust. There is a bath house, which is dated, and did not use, seemed to be in working order. There is no wireless, no washer/ dyer, no dog park. There is direct TV/cable but not all channels work of the 48 they claim to have. The W/E/S all worked. There a several negative issues. The sites are not level, this campground is on a side of mountain and was a cornfield years ago. Bring your boards, jack pads. The owners need to spend time working on leveling the pads, once the camper has left. Now for the biggest problem is the owners will not spend $400.00 extra a month to have additional garbage pick up per week. The garbage is overflowing everywhere. When we were here there was a black bear at the entrance at the top of the hill. What a feast it would be for a bear at night. This campground is a good campground if you are working here locally or needing to pass through for a few nights. We wont be returning due to how off grade the sights are and the garbage issue. …
Stayed overnight with our travel Trailer enroute to Baltimore. Staff very friendly and even shared their watermelon!!! Gravel site but very nice and not dusty. Bunny rabbits and deer everywhere. Would stay here again!
We will make this a regular stop. Very nice sites, good hook ups, clean restrooms and grounds. Couple running the campground very nice and thoughtful. The road in was a little steep but we had no problem with our 40 foot fifth wheel.
Nice campground, very clean grounds and rest rooms. Many full timers but well kept units and no problems. Hard packed gravel sites with good hook ups. Would stay here again if in the area again. Good Sam, AARP discounts given.
