We visited Oakland Green years ago, and it was the highlight of our vacation. The old log house is charming, and the farm itself is beautiful. Not a great choice for families with children, but a perfect location for adults.

Why would you want to stay in a somewhat small room when you can stay in a cabin for the same price?!?! The authentic 18th century cabin is attached to the main house but there is complete privacy; they two are separated by think stone walls. The furnishings are well done, it feels like country living. The breakfast wasn't "gourmet" although it was some of the best bacon I've ever had...it was good country cooking with sizable portions. The owners are very friendly and attentive but also know when to say "enjoy your stay" and leave you alone. Overall it was a great stay and if I am ever back in that part of VA I'd definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Oakland Green for only one night, as the other was already booked (October is a very popular season in the area, as the foliage is truly beautiful around that time), but I really wish we'd had a chance to stay longer. Sara, the owner of the B&B, is such a wonderful hostess - she was extremely helpful with the reservation, even emailing me the driving directions, as the GPS tends to get confused in the area. She also gave us some tips for best restaurants in the area, particularly suggesting Market Table Bistro, which is about a 30 min drive from the farm. Boy, am I glad we listened to her advice - the fare at the restaurant is incredible, and all locally sourced and seasonal (try the pork belly lettuce wraps, and the bread pudding, you will not regret it). The farm itself is beatiful, very well maintained, and gorgeously appointed on a small hill. The Log House Suite is an extremely cozy and truly fascinating cabin, as it' supposedly built in the 1730's (!), and most of the furniture is antique (even the pictures on the walls were of Sara's ancestors, from the early 1900's). However, the amenities are very modern, as the lovely en-suite bathroom has clearly been updated very recently, and the heating was working very well. The breakfast was also delicious and clearly made from fresh local ingredients, as the eggs and bacon tasted the way they really should. All in all, it was a truly blissfull and stress-free stay, and we're definitely going back. If you're looking for an idyllic experience, look no further!

This was truly one of the best Bed and Breakfasts we have been to. We stayed in the "log cabin suite" which included a 2 level area to ourselves with sitting room, 2 bathrooms, and a huge bedroom. Everything felt as though we had stepped back in time. The rooms were furnished entirely in antiques stemming from the 1700's when the log part of the house was constructed. The grounds are spectacular. There is a pool area where you can look into the fields at the horses while relaxing by the pool. There are incredible areas all over the grounds where all different sorts of flowers, herbs etc. are planted. Truly this is just a spectacular place and the Hostess, Jean Brown just makes it all the more special. We woke up to a made to order breakfast every morning that was so yummy we never wanted to leave. Jean is just a very special person and allows you to enjoy her wonderful B&B with as much privacy as you want while at the same time always being there for any questions etc. She even showed us a few magazines she had pulled aside for us with things she thought we would enjoy while in the area. If you want a truly unique, beautiful and peaceful Bed and Breakfast stay, you will find it here. From Jean's exemplary cooking to the gorgeous grounds and lovely rooms, here is where you will find the perfect blend of hospitality, privacy and true beauty of a special area of the US.
