We stayed here for 3 nights in September 2023. The Hotel: Is an older converted hunting lodge with add ons. Is situated in a picturesque part of northern Skye with views of the Quiraing behind the hotel and the sea in the front. Is a little bit of a drive from Portree and so a car is likely a must here. We stayed in the Lady's sweet, which is a two room duplex area to the side of the main hotel. My gosh! The room is just gorgeous! We had stunning views out of the balcony/front porch windows. The room is spacious with everything that you could need. The bathroom is massive with stone pebble floors (an acquired taste to be sure), large soaker tub, and large double shower head shower. We had such a wonderful time staying in this room, it is hard to pick anything apart. My only suggestion would be a wifi extender since we got spotty wifi coverage in the room. The bar area in the hotel was so interesting. Was great to be served drinks on a rainy day next to the fire. The staff were so attentive and amazing. We felt so appreciated and welcomed by them. Wow. Great job guys! Would stay here again.

This review is for the bar at the hotel, as I did not stay a night in the hotel itself. We were a group of 3 hiking and camping outside along the Skye Trail for a week, and we arrived to this place a bit battered, cold, and soaking wet. The barman named Jakob was exceptionally hospitable to us, going above and beyond what I could have imagined to make sure that we were comfortable and well taken care of! We warmed up by the fire and sipped delicious beers and the whole experience reset our bodies and minds for the rest of the journey. Instead of worrying that we wouldn’t be let in because the place was too fancy for us, we were welcomed warmly and treated like very important guests. Incredible, thank you Jakob!

I really wanted to come to Flodigarry Hotel after reading about it in various travel sties I trust (cn traveller/the guardian and others). Not only did the hotel itself sound special - it was in the perfect location for our exploration of Isle of Skye. I was about to book, and then did what I thought would be a quick check with Trip Advisor reviews. At the time, (which was just a couple of weeks before we were to arrive) there were multiple negative reviews in a row talking about it being run down, understaffed, dirty... I know it's more often the people who have a negative time or are persnickety who tend to review vs those who have positive experiences, but there were multiple reviews all saying similar things so it made me pause. I reached out to James (the manager) who I had already been in contact with. I told him I was probably going to stay there regardless as it was just too well located with few other options available - but asked about these reviews. He was very politic with his overall answer, assured me that it was clean and free of moldy smells and in the end said "please book as you see fit, but I can assure you you will enjoy your time here if you want to enjoy your time here." Indeed. We did not need to wait a long time to check in and our two rooms were lovely. The hotel is old and charming. The floors creak. That is not for everyone - it wasn't sleek and modern - but it was certainly clean! There is a very cool bar where we started our evening and we had excellent meals both for dinner and breakfast. The staff was friendly and accommodating. And - as everyone says - the location/view is spectacular.

We spent three delightful nights at the Flodigarry. The views are spectacular. The service, from managers (Joe and James) on down the line was excellent. The bar is beautiful, well-stocked and cozy, including a wood-burning stove. The food was also excellent, among the best we had in our two weeks in Scotland. We stayed in a one-room cottage in the woods behind the main building. While it had a few design flaws, its overall charm and comfort was worth it. I have two cautions, only one of which they can control. The dinner menu needs a little more day to day diversity. It probably only affects people staying more than two nights, but the hotel is so remote a guest may wind up having dinner there every night of their stay. Driving those roads back to the hotel after dinner and drinks, maybe in the dark, is not a good idea. The thing they cannot control is that location. If we had it to do over again we would stay two nights, and a third night elsewhere on Skye. Trying to cover the island thoroughly in three days is very taxing if one stays on only one of the coasts.

This location is certainly worth while visiting. Great location and the interior is stunning as well. In every little nook or corner there is some nice detail to look at, the place looks like it is decorated by an interior decorator. All very tastefully done. The staff is very friendly. A big compliment for James and his team! . And the food is amazing. I would certainly recommend this hotel to my friends.

This hotel is completely over priced for the standard of accommodation and quality of service. It is a stunning location, the building has great character and it could be amazing. First impressions count, there is no one on reception to get checked in. It took a good 10 minutes to track down a member of staff, who was actually supposed to be working on the bar. The room decor was dated and well worn, the bathroom was tiny and not very clean. The toilet seat was completely loose and the hot water scalding hot. Now on to the food, there is literally nowhere else to eat within 30-40 minutes drive, so they have a captive market. It is very expensive £100+ a head, a limited menu and the food was pretty average. Breakfast was similar and not very generous. It tasted like the cooked breakfast was re heated and/or deep fried. There are about 4 staff in total for the whole hotel. They were polite and friendly but they are completely out of their depth. There appears to be no-one in charge. On the plus side the bed was pretty comfy, the hotel was quiet and we slept well. Checking out was even slower than checking in! For the hundreds of pounds a night room and very expensive underwhelming meal, the owners should be pretty ashamed of themselves. It is total style over substance and just not good enough for even half the money. When so much of the basics are missing it feels like they have given up or just don't care anymore. Skye is a stunning place to visit, fortunately we only stayed one night, which was not enough to take the shine off the rest of the trip.

My husband and I stayed here and were little concerned at some of the reviews. However we did not need to worry. The location and views are amazing- one if the most scenic spots on Skye. The hotel is charming and clean. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your stay. The food was excellent - hats off to the chef as it is clear he is passionate about using locally sourced produce. Ignore the bad reviews is my opinion.

This hotel is a joy to behold. We were one of the lucky ones who can say they have woken up to probably the best views Skye can offer. Directly out front, the ocean. To our right, the Quiraing. WOW. After being taken to our room we were challenged to try some of the bars really nice whisky and gin selection. Of course we didn’t shy away from a challenge. Dinner was served in the old meets new style’d Skye restaurant. The owners really have cast their eye over this beautiful hotel in such a wonderfully respectful way. This is not your typical Scottish country house but you do get the feeling that you are in Scotland from the very first welcome. The menu seemed to be sourced locally. We could even taste the sea in the oysters. The scallops were just to die for and the beef just melted in the mouth. Everything was twice as fresh as we get in London but we expected that. Breakfast was substantial and fresh and well served by Jane who was always on hand to assist us in the restaurant. James gave us a lovely send off when settling up. We will be back.

Hotel is for sale. Maybe that’s the reason why the rooms and the meals are way too expensive. Pump up the volume… The service is inferior and the accommodation is completely outdated. It is a 100% rip-off.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in the garden lodge with my partner, we were so excited based on the reviews and their website. Upon arrival, there was no one in the front desk, this was a recurring event, so a lot of times, you are just standing there for a while until someone passes by and they can help you. No one helped us with our bags. The room was not cleaned any of the days we were there. After the second day, we came back from hiking and our room had not been cleaned at all, so we asked reception to clean our room tomorrow and the next day when we came back the only thing they had done was make the bed. No fresh towels, they did not empty the garbage cans, no refill in toilet paper or water, absolutely nothing. The service also felt very chaotic like no one had a definite role there which made the service very frustrating. The only person who was truly helpful was Jacob, he was very friendly and always helpful when we needed him. My partner and I were extremely disappointed in this hotel because this is a very expensive hotel and on their website they praise their "Flodigarry signature service." I would never ever return here nor to their restaurant. The restaurant has exorbitant prices and the food was at best average. The view is great but not worth it at all!!! I wish we would have stayed anywhere else in Isle of Skye, complete waste of money!
