We so enjoyed our stay at the Inn. The ND decor and memorabilia makes the place very interesting. Plenty to look at and read in the guest rooms or the sitting rooms. It is peaceful inside and outside, coffee on the porch in the morning is the best. The hostess, Pam, is a delight!

This was the highlight of our trip! Our friend found this little bed and breakfast inside the fort. Never having stayed at a BnB, we didn't know what to expect. Marcia was the person working and taking care of the Fort Totten Historic Inn, and she was SO nice! She made our stay memorable. This place is gated and located on the fort, and although the buildings are closed up in the evening, because you are staying at the fort, you can explore the grounds after hours. The inn is decorated outstanding. There is LOTS of history on the walls, tables, etc. Not a very good place to bring kids as it is narrow to get through, and there are breakable items everywhere, but it is so quaint, quiet, and comfy if you're traveling with friends or need a romantic place to stay. We had a bedroom with a queen bed and twin, and our bathroom was located down the hall. Most rooms have a private bathroom though. Marcia made us breakfast in the morning, which was a simple bagel, fruit, and juice breakfast, but it was delicious. I would highly recommend staying here if you visit the fort. The fort itself, which I reviewed under things to do, is so interesting. There are a lot of artifacts, clothing, etc. There is a gift shop, theater, and they are currently restoring areas of the fort. We really enjoyed being here and will be back in a year or two to see the restoration efforts.

This is our forth time staying at the inn and we are going back. I recommend staying in July so you can attend the play, held in the fort's theatre. We have stayed in both wheelchair accessible rooms on the main floor. Each has a queen bed with about 5' of room on one side. The bathroom is very large and the toilet and sink are easy to use. My favorite thing is to sit on the porch and bask in the history all around us. The innkeepers are the nicest people I have ever met and make the stay special. If you like antiques, wandering around the inn will take some time, they are everywhere. From the 20th century, they have air-conditioning, central heat, and wireless internet. I like to bring my road bike, the roads are quiet, new, and most have wide shoulders. The casino is 7 miles, Devils Lake is 12, the loop around the lake is 55 miles.

We found the Fort Totten Trail Inn surfing the internet. We were planning on stopping in Devils Lake ND on the first night of our fall vacation and didn't want to stay at the standard motels on Highway 2, which is noisy with the semis and trains. The Inn is several miles outside of town in the Historic Fort Totten. We requested a room on the first floor and stayed in the Horne Room. The Innkeeper gave us a tour and history of the Inn when we arrived. We were too late for the afternoon Victorian Tea, and the breakfast was a limited continental breakfast where we served ourselves cold cereal, freshly made Pillsbury cinnamon buns and coffee. We ate by ourselves in the dining room and after a while the Innkeeper joined us. The other two guests were long-term guests and worked in the Devils Lake area. It was a fun place to stay and we would definitely stay there again if we are in the Devils Lake area as it is much better than the brand name motels in town on the busy Highway 2.

We stayed there one night and attended the Fort Totten Dinner Theatre prior to the arrival of our group for 6 nights for a Mission trip at Spirit Lake Reservation. The rooms are beautiful and unique and the beds comfortable. So much history on the walls and artifacts throughout were fascinating. Jan, the innkeeper, was very pleasant and more than accommodating to us.
