The New London Inn emerges as a bastion of classic New England charm, with guests frequently lauding its cozy, well-appointed rooms and the warm, welcoming atmosphere that pervades the property. While the inn's cleanliness and attention to detail earn high marks, leading to a thoroughly comfortable stay, some guests feel modern updates could enhance the room experience. The hotel's amenities, including the much-appreciated restaurant and bar, along with the commendable service provided by the eager and friendly staff, add to the inn's appeal, although there are mentions of the extras being on the pricier side.

We recently returned from our holiday weekend stay at The New London Inn. This was our second visit, and we enjoyed every minute: the game table in front of the fireplace in the sitting area, the wonderful, classy restaurant and great wait staff, the fresh cookie and coffee each day, the friendly staff available to answer any questions--all of it made for a most delightful stay. We love the history and the relaxed atmosphere. (And...we sincerely enjoyed our visit with the new General Manager.) We will be back.

We just spent three nights in the New London Inn, and we could not have been more happy and comfortable. The rooms were quaint and clean, the beds, and linens were lovely, the common sitting areas, and living room (with coffee and muffins) were the perfect place for to gather with our friends also staying there. The staff and Manager, Mary Carol, were extremely accommodating, friendly, and helpful.
Our dinners at the Coach House Restaurant were absolutely delicious - served with a gourmet presentation and by an excellent staff. The location makes it easy to walk to the other nearby restaurants, and is just five minutes from Highway 89. We will be back!

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and look forward to your return! New London certainly has a ton to offer guests from restaurant to shops in what we like to think of as a quintessential New England Town setting. Two hours from Boston or Stowe, and surrounded by lake and mountains, there is tons to do here. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we'll see you soon.

My girlfriend and I choose this inn at the recommendation of a friend. The property, staff and food did not disappoint. We took a stroll through the community garden behind the library before having a few cocktails and tapas on the second for balcony before sunset, which is beautiful from any seat on the balcony this time of year. We then moved to have dinner in the dining room where we both enjoyed extremely well prepared and delicious meals. For the first time in I can't even remember, we even enjoyed dessert and there were no leftovers. Perfect food in perfect portions. The rooms are cute and quaint and we enjoyed the history of the property as we received a tour with some history told from the manager of the inn. Our stay, though short, will ensure we stay again and again!

Thanks so much for staying with us and sharing your experience. Sounds like you were able to take in many of our new offerings. Tapas was really fun this season and very popular. I took a few of those sunset shots we need to post for sure. We look forward to your return. We've got some great skiing in the area!

The Inn is a bit run down and, thus, not as charming as it appears in pictures (thus, not worth the rate they charged). I stayed in room #5, which was a small room on the first floor sandwiched between a public bathroom and an event room, which rendered it a rather noisy location. There was no way for me to control the heat in the room. There was a window air conditioning unit that I used to block out the noise. They provide danish and fruit in the morning; the danish were clearly not fresh or locally made (provided in sealed plastic bags) and the oranges were rather yellow and unappealing. On the positive side, the staff were very courteous.

When we booked the reservation said "Free private parking is available on site (reservation is not needed)." There were no spots upon arrival so we parked in the street with the other cars and were towed. They are claiming they told us we cannot park in the street...they definitely did NOT. Why would we choose to park farther from the hotel in during a snow storm than in the parking lot if there were spots? The hotel has done NOTHING to compensate us. Due to this we had to pay $250 to get our car and it ruined our whole vacation b/c we had spend 2 hrs dealing with getting it back. I would expect the manager to offer to compensate us by a)only charging us half the nights fee OR b) offering us a free night to come back OR c)paying the impound fee. I have left a msg and have had NO RESPONSE...

When you pull up to the inn, it has a very charming, old New England appeal and it was nice to come into the main lobby with a warm fire burning. However, that's about where the compliments end. First off, there were short white hairs all over the cushion of the chair and on the blue throw that was on the bed. While they replaced the throw with another, it wasn't much better. The bathroom vent fan sounded like it was going to fall out of the ceiling. It was chattering so loudly and did not vent the steam from the shower. The shower, ah yes, the shower. For as hard as I tried, I could not get the temperature of the water right. It went from scolding hot to freezing cold and back again without me touching the knobs. Also, the shower was extremely slippery and I almost fell down. I had to put face clothes down the next time I showered so that I didn't slip. Not sure what they're using to clean it, but they need to put anti-slip pads down. They keep a glass decanterr filled with water to drink. Over the course of my stay, I drank about half of it when my wife pointed out to me that there were white chunks of something floating around. I wanted to barf. Lastly, they welcomed us to have coffee and pastry in the morning. We went downstairs around 7:45 a.m. to find all of the lights out and no signs of life whatsoever. They had two Kuerig machines, but neither worked. The outlet to run them was not live and after about 5 minutes of trying to fix it, we gave up. We had coffee at Grounds, instead, who by the way, gets a 5 star rating! Not what I was expecting for the price. Unless I absolutely have to, I will not stay there again. P.s. The walls are paper thin, you can hear everything and everyone! Tim G.

In a word- "exceptional." We truly had an amazing dinner and stay this past weekend at The New London Inn. From the moment we walked through the doors we felt the charm of their reception with warmth of their fireplace and antique feel of the lobby/sitting area. We greatly appreciated the comfort and decor of our rooms, and the elegance of their onsite restaurant. At dinner, we all enjoyed ourselves immensely, starting with the Butternut Squash Bisque, the Roasted Butternut Squash & Burrata, Cajun Shrimp and Chorizo Sausage Toast, and myself having the mouthwatering Pan Seared Georges Bank Sea Scallops, (my husband had the lamb which I truly regret not taking a picture of). As if it could get any better, they continued to wow us with their desserts, adding that they were so note worth, pictures had to be taken. My husband and I truly cannot wait for our return stay to see what’s in store for their winter menu.

We were pleased that the second floor was pet friendly for an additional fee and stayed in Room 201. On the small side but ok. The TV was barely hanging on the wall and while they did tighten it up they never returned with a working remote. The bath sink didn't drain but it was the stopped and we fixed it ourselves to stay in the open position. Maybe other rooms are nicer here but this was just marginal. The front desk person was ice cold and the maintenance guy worked the dining room as well. While it does have some charm I don't think it's worth the rate. No room safe and the entry door leaked hallway light. I'd only go back if everyplace else was booked up.

It was everything we wanted and more! Knowing it was an inn we were looking for that homey and warm feeling throughout and we weren't disappointed.

We skied Ragged Mountain in Danbury (25 minutes away) but it was a very frigid day with subzero temps so we were hoping the Coach House, pub/restaurant, in the Inn would be appealing so we didn't have to battle those freezing elements at night and seek out another venue. The Coach House was excellent; food, service, and price.

The New London Inn is a 230 plus year old building so you're not going to experience 21st century spaciousness but you will experience a clean, updated, and beautiful decor throughout. Additionally, and importantly, the staff was the most congenial, attentive, professional, warm and welcoming that you'll ever experience and it was truly genuine from person to person.

Our only regret is that we only booked one night and we definitely could have stayed longer so we could enjoy the comfortable setting and warm staff and to take in more of the New London area.

Don't hesitate to book a stay at the New London Inn! You won't be disappointed!

We enjoyed our two night stay at The New London Inn. Our room was on the third floor (two flights of stairs, which were NOT a problem for us but could be for some . . . there may have been an elevator?), comfortable and quiet even though it faced the main road. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I'm giving it a four dot rating because our average nightly room price of $340 feels too high for the accommodations. The restaurant in the Inn is very good and maybe if breakfast were included that might justify the room price.
