We feel lucky to have found this gem. It is a small ocean front property. Behind its gated front you will find a superbly designed beach hotel. Simple in it's approach, everything about the sleek design promotes relaxation and maximizes the natural beauty of the location. You will wake up, literally steps from the beach!
Key-less entry was awesome. No losing your room card on the beach! We were able to walk everywhere (Coffee shop, market, variety stores 5 minute walk, city center loaded with souvenir shops, restaurants, and bars a 7 min walk, laundry mat a 10 min walk) Everything is close!
The beach itself was pristine. Grooming took place every morning. Beach chairs & umbrellas were set for us every day. There were kayaks and bicycles. There is a small, tidy lawn with shady palms and hammocks.

The housekeeping staff was amazing. Not a speck of sand left in our room after she had been through. Every staff member was friendly, from the desk clerk to the housekeeper, to the young man who set up our chairs and umbrella...EVERYONE.

Ubers were easy to get for any destination long enough to require them.

The only drawbacks we noted were few and easy to accommodate. Parking was extremely limited. While it didn't affect us, if you drive here it might be an issue. Plan ahead. The office is not staffed 24 hours. You can get water from the water cooler during the day, but at night you are on your own. (Get to the Grocery store or refill your own container ahead of time!)

Our recent getaway to LBTS was at the Tides Inn.
Here are a few random notes to highlight our main impressions:

—Room was fine, with ample AC outlets (but no usb)

—Good storage options in the room. Beds are super low & soft. If they had box springs they would be perfect.

—We had handicap accessible room due to mobility issues. Huge bathroom with walk-in shower. Water temp & pressure were fine. No vanity & very little shelf space in the bathroom.

—AC worked well. There is also a box fan provided.

—Mini fridge, microwave, toaster & nespresso machine are in the room. Coffee capsules were not replaced on the one day that we had housekeeping service.

—The Inn’s “ice machine” is just a small tray attached to the water dispenser in the office. (similar capacity/output to a home fridge ice maker.) This seemed weird, since rooms are equipped with standard ice bucket/tongs. We had brought just a small, purse-size canvas cooler, but were never able to fill it even halfway. Odds are that you would need to go elsewhere for ice.

—Within walking distance are a Publix, CVS, Dollar Tree, Dunkin …along with sushi, Italian, & First Watch.

—Pool was small but fine for our needs. Deck area has umbrella tables w chairs, & also sun chaises.

—A small negative was the beach setup. Chairs are canvas sling style. Very little recline, & no way to elevate one’s feet.

—Housekeeping schedule is weird and proved to be a negative for us. First full day service was between 4:30-5…somewhat typical for a beach resort, IME. But on second full day, the room had still not been serviced at 5:30. We asked for fresh towels, a broom to sweep the sandy floor, & we did our own beds in order to keep our dinner reservation. The Tides definitely need more staff—or maybe their cleaning routine just needs an overhaul. (Rooms that were vacated at AM checkout & still vacant all day were cleaned ahead of rooms where current occupants were staying over)

Just noticed their current #2 ranking on TA, touting “free breakfast included.” This was not offered to us, & I’m curious how that would work, unless it’s a voucher or similar for a nearby eatery.

Bottom line: we would return because we liked the rooms & the affability of staff. If we go back, this time with realistic expectations, that might be better than trying a new place that would have its own quirks & possibly less agreeable staff.

I have stayed in several different places in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Tides is one of the best if not THE BEST for me. The rooms are large, they have plenty of storage and hooks and closet space which comes in handy when you travel. Management and staff are friendly and accommodating at all times. They have only 10 rooms and 2 suites which creates an intimate atmosphere. Beach chairs, beach towels, kayaks and paddleboards are all provided generously. Walk into the village or to the beach bar at the hotel 2 doors down. The tastefully chic rooms offer Nespresso Coffee And bathrobes. I love it!

I had booked two rooms for three nights, on separate floors. At checkin, Reynaldo, kept emphasizing that our espresso machine came with three pods per day but no more. I asked about tea and he said he’d check and take care of it. He didn’t. We never got additional pods after the first day either. But what was truly unacceptable was our room not being cleaned on the second day of our stay. We had gone to the Dolphins game and came back before 5 pm to an uncleaned room. I went at once to Reynaldo, expecting an apology, and at minimum an offer to empty waste baskets and take away dirty towels and replace them. Nope. He said it was our fault since we didn’t put the sign out requesting service!!? I thought it was a joke. It wasn’t. I told him I had never heard of requesting a room being cleaned anywhere to get it done. He insisted it was our fault. He said that since our daughter had put out her sign, and we were “one family “ we had to put the sign out too or not be cleaned. It was starting to become theatre of the absurd. I got nowhere. I finally said that if we got no service, he should deduct something from our bill for one night. He refused to even consider it. He finally said he could give us clean towels. That was his one concession! When he ran into my husband a while later, he went on his “ one family” rant again.
Without a doubt, the rudest and most inhospitable manager I had ever encountered. Do NOT stay here if there is a chance you will need any assistance.
Also rooms were clean but not immaculate. Trash left in one drawer. Not worth the aggravation. Amenities are scarce - no shower gel or hand lotion. Only three bath towels per room. Toilet paper not refilled.

We stayed here for a few days as a small family, we arrived early and greeted by friendly staff and out room was already clean and ready for us (no waiting)
This is a small hotel with approx 12/13 room which made it just perfect for us as our room was just a couple feet from the pool which served the purpose perfectly , and being right on the beach means that there was only a few people by the pool . It’s surprising how much storage and animators the room had for the space but it has all you could need. Without doubt I would stay here again .
If visiting I reconnect Aruba for dinner.

We arrived early and were advised , correctly, that we couldn’t access our rooms until 3pm. We were told we could gain access to our room earlier (1.30pm) for and additional charge of $50 plus tax. We asked if we could use the bathroom and our luggage stored securely. The member of staff obliged and stored out luggage for us and advised us to get breakfast in any one of the near by cafes and come back . We came back at 1.30 ish to be shown to our rooms, 1 room wasn’t quite ready . Our first impression did not match what was advertised on the website , the mattresses are long overdue for replacement as they sag very badly. Next we quite plainly and clearly heard the conversation in the next door room when they were booking their restaurant for that evening, plus every other word was clearly discernible . We spent the next hour searching the internet for hotels to stay for the next two nights. Might I suggest that the owners and employees of The Tides Inn stay the night in their own accommodation to see it from a paying guests perspective . As a positive note the room was extremely clean as we were greeted by an overpowering smell of bleach on entry to our room. We took our baggage back down stairs and advised the receptionist that we weren’t staying due to the paper thin walls and what we could hear in surrounding rooms, the receptionist simply advised that no refund would be forthcoming , rather than apologising . Lesson learned don’t rely on pictures, research, research, research !

Tides Inn is amazing. You can tell the owners truly care because the place is so clean, well maintained and there’s always someone checking the pool, refilling towels, manicuring the landscape etc. every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful! Our money was well spent here! Great location, clean rooms and pool, beachfront, welcoming….what else could you want?! :)

The manager Reynaldo is kind, friendly and polite. He makes us feel welcome and comfortable. We stayed in room 12 which has a large patio overlooking the ocean. Grocery store is two blocks away for the room kitchen which has a large refrigerator, microwave, two-burner cook top, kitchen cabinets with plates and drinking glasses. We will definitely return and request this special room. Sitting on the patio with wine, empanadas, cheese and olives. This is the way to live.

Just got back from LBTS and stayed in room 10. Reynaldo was very nice and helpful and always had a smile on his face. Will was great too! He kept up with the maintenance and also would help us out with the beach chairs and umbrella. The room was cute and updated. You can't beat the location with the beach just steps away and a pool to cool down after. Also, with only being 12 rooms it was quiet and relaxing and was not a party atmosphere like some other places. Don't believe the negative reviews, this place is great. If you want your room cleaned put the sign on the door. There is shampoo and conditioner and soap, but not the end of the world because there's no body wash! What was nice is that there is a box fan for the ones who like to sleep with the fan! The room has the basics. If you're missing something there is a Publix that is a three minute walk away. For the price point this place is great. Some people act like this is the Four Seasons and are way too picky and should have some grace.
