We were well received by Shani & Ian. We booked three separate bedrooms and to our surprise our party of three was split up between two lodgings in two different streets. Two of us however decided to share a bedroom with two single beds, so we could thus share one unit. The lodge advertises a restourant on their website bur this has not been open for some time apparently. Ian kindly arranged supper for us at another B&B a block or two away. Our rooms and bedding/towels were neat and clean but this cannot be said of the kitchen sink and entrance stoep! In the unit next to ours were noisy people who apparently are there on a more permanent basis. We had to request Shani to get them to lessen their noise but with little result until 12 that night! The shower in the main bedroom supplies a small trickle of steaming hot water - no cold water at all. There was no soap and no basin plugs in the en suite bathroom or kitchen. In defence of the lodge we must mention that the price was very affordable and with attention to the few things mentioned above a stay there might be quite pleasant. Important though is that mention of the restourant should be omitted from their website until it is operative again. Loxton virtually goes to sleep at 18:00 with no shops or restourants open as far as we could gather. If it were not for the friendly B&B lady who opened their kitchen for just the three of us, we woud have had to go to sleep (after 12:00!!) on empty stomachs.....…
We were pleasantly surprised with a small bit lovely wine selection, stunning steak and crispy onion rings. The home made waffle with vanilla ice cream was a hit. Dont expect a romantic dinner for two or fancey food. Though basic many locals and regulars frequented the reaturant and take aways was also ordred. We will definately stop here again for dinner.
What a surprise this was. Very friendly reception. On a Sunday night no effort was to big to prepare the most enjoyable Karoo dinner served on the patio. The premises is very well kept, We found the museum so special.
we got to Loxton. the main reason for the trip was to stay in a corbelled house. we stop to find out of the town. we had a look at all the vehicles they have there. there is a Rover that I which it was mine. there is a Rolls Royce as well and a lot old army vehicles.
