The Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel stands out for its cleanliness and prime location, beloved by guests for its proximity to LA attractions and its secluded vibe. While the hotel's atmosphere and amenities are celebrated for their luxury, some travelers have reservations about the value, citing hidden fees and noise concerns in rooms that sometimes contrast with the lobby's trendy ambiance. Service quality appears to be hit or miss, with experiences ranging from warm hospitality to frustrating unresponsiveness.

We absolutely loved our stay. The hotel is brilliant. The staff make it. It may be a little dated but everything is very comfortable. The food is excellent and service and they can't do enough for you. We would definitely come back and stay again.

At the front desk I met Bernadette and Kelsey. Kind, accommodating, and friendly. I couldn’t have asked for a better price or experience! Thank you to both of them. They 150% made the trip! Absolutely gems of human beings and they deserve a raise.

We arrived at this hotel exhausted after a long flight from Hong Kong. When the taxi pulled up, three bellman sat at the front desk looking at us disinterested as we walked in with our baggage. We were given a room in the 'second building' which we were told was 50 metres away albeit up a steep hill. I suggest the check in clerk - who could not have been more disinterested in anything we asked - be given a lesson in measuring distance. The bottom line is that the second building is fine if you have a car and don't mind staying in a motel. If you don't have a car, it sucks as you rely on a so called shuttle service with no food or refreshments in that building. We were shuttled up by one of the bellman but in true fashion, dropped at the door, given directions to the room and more or less told to take care of our own luggage. We had booked a Junior Suite which is apparently what we were given. The website states most rooms have private patios - this one did not and given that it overlooked the motorway, I would guess it is some time since the windows were opened. It certainly did not smell fresh. When we called the front desk to complain, the person we spoke to told us that as far as he was concerned we had received what we had reserved. He had a distinct attitude issue and was not going to help. He was adamant that we could not move room that night and perhaps (but probably not) could be changed in the morning. The call did not end well. I called back about 20 minutes later and this time he agreed to move us to a lower rate room which he assured me had a balcony. What he forgot to mention was the the balcony it had looked over a ravine full of what appeared to be discarded balcony furniture and that there were workmen digging a drain or something which involved banging before 7am. In short the 'new' room had no tooth glasses in the bathroom (two paper cups at the coffee machine - take your choice what you use them for), no robes and tired furniture. There were two beds - I found them ok. My wife did not. The stopper in the bathroom sink was broken and you could not fill the sink with water. This morning we found alternative accommodation and moved out. The biggest surprise this morning is that the clerk on the front desk - who to her credit, took our comments (and my anger) with dignity as apparently there were no members of management on site - then offered us a refurbished room. Go figure as less than 12 hours earlier we were told unequivocally that a room change was probably not possible. Some positives - the food in the bar last night and at breakfast this morning was more than edible. It was good. The website shows a gleaming property with lots of talk of private patios and other amenities in the room. It is not! It is tired, run down and in need of attention. The hotel is being refurbished but there is no mention of this on the website. It may get better but for the moment avoid it at all costs

Dear 544Traveller, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent stay at our hotel. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment you experienced during your visit. Your comments are crucial to our ongoing efforts to improve our services and facilities. We appreciate your positive comments about the food in the bar and breakfast; however, we understand that these positives do not outweigh the overall issues you encountered. Your experience falls short of our high standards of excellence, and we would like to work with you to regain your trust. As your name does not match to any of our bookings, we would appreciate if you contact front office management so they can look into the details of your reservation and find an agreeable solution. I checked into my room and was met with such a terrible smell that I turned around and checked out. It was like a sharp mildew smell that made my throat hurt. They still charged me for a full night stay. Rooms are awful too. Dark, drab, old carpet. It’s sad.

Good location, but that’s it. This tired property is anything but luxe. The room is bleak (see photos) and smelled; internet was painfully slow; valets were unresponsive so we had to walk down and up the hill from the second building in the rain to get to/from breakfast; restaurant was understaffed for breakfast (do we really have to ask 3 times for butter for our toast, and for water?); shower barely had enough water pressure to function; and there was literally no quiet space (we asked) to meet with colleagues. There are no snacks and no kiosk for sundries. For all of these pleasures you also get charged $100/room resort fee (which also includes their “business center,” which is a table in the corner of the lobby.

This hotel should be a 2 to 3 star property. Hotel rooms are dated and smelly. Hot water takes a long time to coming out. You can really control the air flow on the AC at all my room was hot. I asked for a fan and they told me they didnt have one. They could have gone a buy one for the price you pay for this rooms. On my first day, after a long work day, I returned to my room to find out it was not serviced. When I called the front desk to have some come up and at least bring water and fresh towels, I was questioned if I have left the DNT sign on the door. When in fact it was not. You can hear ppl walking in the rooms on top of you and my room was close to the valet area, where I was hearing cars and ppl until late at night and early in the morning. Food at the restaurant is subpar at best. First night I ordered their burger medium. I got my burger well done, dry and unseasoned. Second night I ordered a simple chicken caesar salad and it was soggy and unappealing. In both nights there was no one at the hostes station and only one server. I also learned that they don't really have an executive chef and the line cooks are the one making the meals and every night is someone different than the day before. The entertainment system in the rooms is a joke. TV is small a the TV interactions is awful. The software use is old and the tv remote looks like brick from 20 yrs ago. Not to mention that there were many channels that you will get a no signal msg. Lastly, the corridor door towards the rooms was kept open 24 hrs when it should have been close for security. I found out that the hotel have gone though several GM's in a short period of time. This tells me that owners are not invested in providing good service and product. I will definitely will not be staying at this property ever again and I will not recommend it to any one. This hotel needs a lot of TLC, and need to hire more staff.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Luxe hotel for my birthday weekend! It was conveniently located near the Getty center and the staff were all very sweet/welcoming. I especially loved our spacious room which came with a separate living room space area as well. I also liked that the hotel room had a six drawer dresser which was great for everything I packed. Looking forward to staying there again during the summer with my kiddos!

This is the 2nd time I've been, and will do every time I'm in L.A. From the valet when you arrive to the front desk and checking in, it's so smooth and fast (I do check in online). The Junior Suite is very large and so comfortable, plus quiet. And, the convenience to the 405 and all the places I go is hard to beat. Being in a "wooded" area, it's also private and there is no road noise at all.

Let me say that my standards aren't sky-high. I've gladly camped in questionable conditions and navigated hostels fueled by instant ramen. But the Luxe Sunset Hotel sank below even my most adventurous expectations. Stepping into the room was like entering a forgotten corner of a damp basement. The "aromatherapy" emanating from the bathroom could only be described as a sewer serenade, a persistent low note that would make even the most seasoned Parisian perfume connoisseur wince. As if to compete with the olfactory assault, the visual feast wasn't much better. Mold, the color of a questionable avocado left in the back of the fridge, had taken up residence on the bathroom tiles, forming its miniature mycobiome. The carpet, in a valiant attempt to camouflage its true state, sported a constellation of stains that defied identification (and hygiene standards). Imagine trying to relax in a lukewarm bath while dodging rogue spores and contemplating the existential mystery of the unidentified carpet blotches. Not exactly the picture of luxury painted in the hotel's brochures, I assure you. Some might say, "Hey, at least it was cheap!" To that, I counter: even a bargain-basement bin needs basic sanitation. My hard-earned cash deserved better than a petri dish masquerading as a hotel room. So, unless you're a die-hard mold enthusiast or fond of olfactory challenges, I would like you to steer clear of the Luxe Sunset Hotel. Trust me, your nose (and sanity) will thank you.
