The rooms were lovely at the Bergson and cosy in the winter months. The location is also very good in Calistoga.

We found the service to be so underwhelming and quite weird. The staff didn't offer a warm welcome when we arrived after a 4 hour drive in the rain from San Fran and instead just put "terms and conditions" forms in front of us to read. For such a small place the hosts need to make you feel welcome.

We were also the only people in the breakfast room and the host walked in the room past us, didn't say hello and got behind the desk and spoke amongst her colleagues.
We have stayed in B&Bs all around the world and this was by far the weirdest service we've experienced!!

If you're only interested in the accommodation side it was really nice

We stayed three nights last week and were very satisfied with our stay. We had a large queen size room with a nice attached bathroom. The room was nicely decorated and even had a fireplace. It was impeccably clean. We had a parking space for our rental car immediately in front of our room. Breakfast was served in the reception area and although it was a cold buffet style breakfast it was very good and filling. Each morning there was fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, granola, ham filled croissants, Danish, bagels, jam, juices, milk, coffee tea. There was a beautiful outdoor space where breakfast could be eaten in warm weather. The staff was friendly and informative. They gave us 2 for 1 tasting coupons for wineries and were able to advise on wineries and restaurants. My husband and I own a B&B in the Midwest are pretty picky about B&B's we choose to stay at. We would definitely stay at Christopher's again!

Christopher's Inn is a lovely place from the outside. The desk clerk provided us with recommendations and directions, excellent customer service. So expectations were good.
The carpet in the first floor room was filthy, I mean nasty looking and stained. The bedding was old and the spread smelled. The pillows were old and shot. The bathroom floor was mopped but dirty.
C'mon! Stay in St. Helena

Dear Cajuns55, I apologize for the unsatisfactory condition of your room. Upon taking ownership, we immediately identified the carpets and bedding were dated and in need of replacement with a few rooms in worse condition than the others. This winter we will be completing a full interior remodel of all our guest rooms, the start of which is already underway. Thank you for letting us know our front desk is providing excellent customer service. I hope you give us another chance after the remodel and if there is anything I may do to assist please don’t hesitate to contact me at the hotel. Sincerely, Steve Patel

We were in the area for a special wedding and choose the Inn as it was included as a suggested accommodation. We paid over $200 a night including tax. We made the reservation over the phone and as it was a special weekend we were looking for a fun spot. I was told the room had a little area outside to sit. A rickety dirty bench and wicker foot stool with spider webs galore is what we found. The room was not more than 160 sq ft. The capet in our room had not been vacumed and seemed dirty. There were also spider webs in the two lamps next to each bed. There was staff but they always had to be called to find someone. The gatehouse had no ammenities. In all fairness the breakfast came on time and was delicious, the bed linens clean and bed was comfortable. However, I would not recommend this inn due to over-all clealiness, lack of staff, and value for price paid.

We reserved our room on the Inn's website. Checked availability and put in all the information. We received a confirmation of the reservation. A week later, we got a very abrupt email saying they cancelled our reservation due to not staying enough days in a row. It never came up during our reservation and as I said, we got a confirmation email. We then were not able to get any of the other rooms we were looking at at the time we were making this reservation. Moral of the story is to not believe that you have a reservation until you have checked in.

We made a last minute reservation here for a wine club event that we were attending at Frank Family Vineyards. While many area hotels have 2-night minimums on the week-ends, this place allowed us to book for just Saturday night. The room had an inside entrance (which feels safer to me) and it was clean and very comfortable. The bed was great and the windows opened so we could have fresh air in the morning. The room was small, but we were only there to sleep. The amenities were a step up from most hotels (even the large, well-known chains). And there were wine glasses! The rate using our AAA membership was better than the Comfort Inn, which is not really walkable to downtown. The breakfast, included, was more than enough: freshly made mushroom prosciutto quiche, pastries (from a bakery not a package), hardboiled eggs, cold cereal, fresh fruit, juice, milk, coffee and tea and toast/bagels. And it was quiet even though it fronts Highway 29.

We spent one night at this delightful boutique hotel in the heart of the Napa Valley, California. After the hustle and bustle of San Fransisco, this was a welcome change and the weather was amazing. The reception was warm and inviting, and we received information and clear instructions for all the amenities. The room was romantically appointed, with a huge bed, small sunny courtyard and gas fire. Breakfast was continental style, served in the lobby of the hotel beside a fire. The town of Calistoga is an artists' paradise and has many galleries and hand-made gift shops, all within walking distance from Christopher's Inn. The many wine tasting facilities and great eateries are a bonus! I highly recommend a visit to both Christopher's Inn and the Napa Valley, Calistoga in particular.

Loved our stay at Christopher's Inn. Friendly helpful staff, clean room, loved the décor and the ambience of the room and the Inn. We would stay here again if we were in the area, and would recommend it to everyone. The area is quite expensive but this was very reasonable. Good location, had picnic lunch in the shade of the trees by the fountain, just a really pleasant stay. Toiletries provided were really lovely, especially the body lotion, still adore the fragrance now.

We checked into our room and had a little time for a nap before heading out to dinner. Upon pulling back the covers, we discovered an old Kleenex and pubic hair in the sheets. It was obvious that the sheets had not been changed. When we notified the person on duty, they acted like it wasn’t a big deal and when we asked to speak with the manager, no one ever contacted us. It ruined our weekend and still makes be sick to my stomach thinking about it. Stay somewhere else!

I can only apologize for the maids that supposedly cleaned this room. Front desk staff checks all the rooms, however they generally do not turn back the covers on the beds, presuming the job has been done! In the past 15 years this is the first complaint of this type and it is so discouraging for us, however we have retrained our staff and given new instructions to check and recheck all rooms in a more specific way, so your comments are valuable to us. I just wish to front desk staff had been more helpful to this guest. We have in the past received some spurious complaints in order to avoid payment, but this issue does not sound like one of those. We have had so many great reviews that we take all responses very seriously.
