I read a few reviews about this Hotel and it was in my opinion a little misleading. I travel a lot and there wasn’t a place where my expectations got crushed so badly. Pros: the bed was very comfortable and a proper king sized bed. Staff is really helpful, friendly and accommodating. They even organized a driver for us to take us around which made our vacation tour-wise pretty great. Has a room safe. Which should be a standard in any hotel anyway. A/C is good. Near ayala mall. 5 mins walk away. 20 mins walk away from SM Legazpi. I would take a taxi though (8 mins). I can’t give an opinion about the pool because we didn’t use it. Cons: the rooms were kinda outdated and need a proper cleaning. Bathroom should have been cleaner. The smell in the bathroom was horrible. It had a really strong sewer smell. The mini fridge in the rooms were functioning but i gotta say it was disgusting. Food and drinks are stored there. They should clean it. Scrub it if they have to. The windows couldn’t be properly closed. You could feel the heat from outside when standing near the window. Thank God the a/c was functioning well. Breakfast was a little meager. And hygiene should be the top priority. One morning we saw mini cockroaches crawling over the bread and hiding behind each slice of toast. The cook doing the omelletes should be more attentive. I ordered omelets for 3 people. And he always did just one portion. I was waiting for 15 mins because he always did another guests order before mine. I had to order them separately each time. By the time mine was done. The others were finished with their food. It was so freaking annoying. And the portions were so tiny. That’s why him taking so long to make them didn’t make sense.

Stayed here for 3 nights while we toured Bicol. For the first night it appeared that housekeeping simply but the bed covers back on and placed new towels but did not. Really clean the room. Small roach in the sink spotted. The public areas, breakfast buffet are fine but the rooms need some fixing up or renovation. The shower head had an uneven spray pattern and at times mixed by itself between hot and cold. Massage services are good, done in your room, schedule at front reception. Friday evenings have a buffet and dancing. Can take a tricycle to the SM mall a short distance away.

The Hotel St. Ellis has the best breakfast buffet I've found anywhere, compared to at least a dozen hotels in the U.S. It also has a small but wonderful swimming pool, very good service, and a terrific shower. The biggest negative is that it provides absolutely no written instructions for operating the air conditioning, the TV, the Wifi, and the lights. It provides just one room key, no matter how many people are staying in the room. The air conditioning goes off at night, and can be restarted only by standing on a chair and pressing the button, but they don't tell you that. My wife and I suffered from overheating on the first night. Operating the TV requires pressing 2 or 3 buttons. The room has a power key -- a plastic card that must be inserted on a slot to get any electricity. I had to ask a staff member to connect by phone by WiFi on the ground floor and again on the 3rd floor, because they have 2 different systems. It took my wife and me a full day to figure everything out. The other family members, in another room, never did figure out the air conditioning, and suffered through all 3 nights. It would take the hotel staff less than an hour to write out all these instructions on a single page and print a copy for each room, but they don't bother. If they did, I would give the hotel 4 and a half stars. Other members of my family were so confused by the lack of instructions that they gave the hotel just 3 stars. Their other complaint was that the walls on the stairway are in serious need of painting and repair, but this didn't really bother me. Please, Hotel St. Ellis: get off your butts and write out the instructions!

The photos are deceptive! the facade looks old faded and rusty. Stayed here for 1 night for business - first the pluses, it's near the airport, in the heart of the city and the front desk / concierge staff was super friendly and warm, the rooms are very spacious and aircon is working great and fine, rooms generally clean. Now the minuses - this hotel is in dire need of refresh and renovation - there are hallways, function rooms and other areas that have peeling paint and mold. The bathroom in my room was not thoroughly clean and smells moldy. No bathrobes. it just smells and "feels" old. Downside of it being in the city is the street noise - jeepneys and motorbikes passing through will definitely wake you if you're a light sleeper. Hot water is weak or none at all. Food is mediocre with small servings if ala carte, the buffet choices are OK but nothing to write home about. Housekeeping staff are noisy and dont clean thoroughly, i even saw a couple of them catching a nap at the couch in the elevator lobby in my floor... and even sorting laundry like used towels and linens in the staircase! Which forced me to use the elevator even if my room is only on the 3rd floor, which by the way is small - barely fits 6 people with no luggage. Staff is friendly yes, but they all look tired and overworked. I found the towel and bed linen smell a bit funky like they havent thoroughly dried. I definitely won't come back if a had a choice - and there are many in Legazpi city!

Our room was well furnished with necessities and the size was not big but sufficient. My main complaint is the housecleaning. Our room was not cleaned everyday. On the third day I had to call to ask them to give us new towels since they have not been changed since Day 1. The bathroom was dirty after a few days since they don't clean it. There is someone who comes in to empty the garbage and replenish the coffee supplies so I'm surprised why that is all that is done. The hotel staff are polite and the breakfast buffet is okay.

Smiles and genuine words of welcome greeted our party of 2 children and 1 adult upon entering the bright & airy reception area. We were offered homemade ice tea in the middle of a tropically hot & humid afternoon, while swiftly completing the check-in. Discreet help was at hand to get our bags to our room, that had been pre-cooled with ample air conditioning. The pleasant pool of the inner courtyard was our afternoon oasis after a half-day of action and fun in the great outdoors of the region. The restaurant had some delicious dinner options for the whole family, but you should expect to pay the usual hotel premium, compared to what's available in the immediate vicinity of the establishment. Still, the quiet, clean, comfortable and cool settings were making it all worth it for us, at the end of an exciting but tiring week of touring remote areas of the country. Reception had pre-arranged a complimentary van to the airport at 05:30am the next day, and we were sent off with more smiles and greetings, as well as packed breakfast bags for the way! All in all, a highly recommendable experience at Hotel St. Ellis, with my only caveat being that the maintenance of some key areas (e.g. bathrooms and showers) would benefit from a special touch of attention, given the tropical climate of the region, in order to keep them in optimal conditions.

I booked an overnight stay at Hotel St. Ellis with my Mom so we can do a Legazpi/ Daraga city tour after our two-night stay in Misibis Bay Resort, which is their sister company. Hotel St. Ellis and its facilities are old but clean and comfortable. The location is also good as it is very near the Ayala Mall and other establishments. Public transport is very accessible too. Upon our arrival, the receptionist upgraded our room at no extra charge. What I am very appreciative of, however, is that their room rate includes a transfer from the hotel to the airport. The receptionist just needs to be informed ahead of time so he/ she can book the car. If you have some business to do in Legazpi City, I’d recommend Hotel St. Ellis for short stays.

I had a terrible experience from this hotel last June 6, 2021. The elevators were not working, the lobby had no lights and airconditoning until 8am. I was checked in at the top most floor even when I specifically told them that it was my wedding that day. I was walking up and down due to my pictorial and change outfits and it was really tiring. I won't recommend this hotel. Not comfortable at all.
