This restaurant offers a beautiful tranquility with superb food and an ambiance that equates with the food and wine! The restaurant is being renovated at present, and I certainly look forward to it reopening! The gardens offer a natural habitat with fresh fragrance and beautiful fountains! This is a must visit and can only get better and stronger when it’s doors open to a complete new refurbishment coordinating the old with the new!

Our final few days of a true Irish O'dyssey were spent with Marvelous Maggie and her terrific Team at Viewmount House (VH). Longford is the area with my late mother's side of the family originated. VH was the perfect place for a relaxing - and rewarding - journey back on the ancestral trail. From the moment we arrived Maggie made us feel as welcomed as old friends. VH is a vintage manor-type facility with lovely gardens. Our room (1) was spacious and comfortable. Note: If you want rooms 1 or 3 be prepared - 36 steps up. You definitely get a cardio workout. Our meals were served to exact spec and flavor-full. While the main restaurant is closed due to renovation, they have improvised and adapted using the breakfast room and adjoining kitchen to present excellent cuisine in an elegant setting. The atmosphere is one of friendliness and guest-as-priority #1 commitment. An aviary aside: Ask Maggie to show you a most fascinating bird show. You will be chirping about it forever. We have to salute Maggie's team - Mervyn, Molly, "Okee Dokee" and the rest of support staff for going out of their way to give us as fine a piece of Irish hospitality as one will find on the Emerald Isle. Settle in by a wod burning cast iron hearth, enjoy your favorite beverage at happy hour and ease into an outstanding dinner...all adding up to accolade-earning ambience that is Viewmount House. Highest Recommendation!…

Would not recommend a stay here. We found it to be hugely overpriced for the service we received. We arrived at the house and wished to check it but there was no one around to check us in and give us our key. After some time waiting and searching for help, along with other visitors, someone showed up and gave us our key. At this time we also reserved a spot for dinner. The rooms were fine, we only had one robe when we were obviously a couple, and there were no tea and coffee facilities in the room. The gardens were nice to walk around. We went down to dinner in the restaurant as per our reservation and it transpired that our reservation had not been processed so we had a significant wait before we were seated. We had a terrible experience with service ie food not coming out together, no napkins nor glasses on the table, had to wait 30 mins for coffee. Overall the food was hugely overpriced. Breakfast the next day was very disappointing. For the price of a one night stay, the breakfast was below par, fry up was barely average and the pancakes were disappointing. Again the service was quite poor, no milk for cereals, no glasses for oj. Upon checking out, we again had to search for someone to complete our checking out. There is no consistent front of house person to help with any questions. Overall, hugely overpriced, very very poor service in the house and the restaurant, I was definitely expecting more for the price paid.…

We booked viewmount for my mam's birthday. We had a lovely evening there-the food was excellent. I had the goats cheese and black pudding starter and I thought this was gorgeous. The service was brilliant. The staff really couldn't do more.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Viewmount. I was travelling with my parents and children. A friend had recommended Viewmount to me but I was a bit sceptical after reading some recent reviews. I needn’t have worried. It was the perfect retreat. From the moment we were greeted by our hostess, Amy to our departure 2 days later I was totally relaxed and enjoyed every moment of my stay. I would highly recommend for all ages. The website doesn’t do it justice. The rooms were very spacious with a mezzanine level in the suites that could comfortably sleep 2 -3 children and downstairs a fabulous four poster bed, sofa and flat screen TV. The mezzanine would not be suitable for small children. My parents had a ground floor room complete with a wet room. It was at the end of the house so lovely and peaceful. The rooms also had products from the handmade soap company which was a nice bonus. The restaurant had a beautiful stonework facade which contributed to the overall ambience. The food was just delicious, staff attentive and friendly and all my kids found something they liked!!! The chef, Siobhán even came out afterwards to check all was to our liking. The empty plates did the talking… The tranquil Japanese garden was the icing on the cake with beautifully appointed water features and pathways, walled tunnels, a garden swing seat and lots of little hideaway spaces if you wanted some alone time. During the afternoon we went to the Mall in Longford which is a large activity area with soccer pitches, a swimming pool and walks. After dinner we joined some other guests in the library which accommodated a range of board games and proved a very enjoyable evening. There was also another room with a big open fire and sofas if you just wanted to chill out. I was so pleasantly surprised to find such a gem on our doorstep and will definitely return.…

This was our 2nd visit to Viewmount house. There were 26 of us in total to celebrate family birthdays. After thoroughly enjoying our 1st visit we returned last weekend. Our party ranged in ages from 10years to 90years and every single person enjoyed Viewmount. It has the space to let people drift off on their own but yet always easy to find someone to play a board game/chess/droughts/cards. We will definitely return again. Siobhan the chef takes such pride in her work. Happy to accommodate all diets. Her food is fantastic and she sources most of her food locally. Her love for what she does is evident in the plates of food she serves and the way she speaks about her menu. Amy and all the staff are so friendly and attentive while still maintaining distance. For us, it was like a fabulous, private house hire with the best staff. Can’t recommend it enough. Thanks so much for 2 very enjoyable stays…
