Definitely won't go back to this backpacker. I've been coming here for 15 years this time around I slept on dirty sheets the owner trying to over charge me for a room twice quoting me a much high price for a dorm to what the other guest were pay. I don't know why but that's it for me.

Positioned in Kempton Park, so away from central Pretoria, but close enough to get into the city easily. Located on a quiet suburban road with quick access to plenty of restaurants and food outlets. The rooms are small but comfortable, and the pool is a very welcome added bonus. I'd be very happy to stay again.

My husband and I had some business in Pretoria. We enjoy staying at backpackers because the atmosphere is usually more fun and chilled compared to hotels and it's easier to meet people and make friends. 1322 did not disappoint. Our room was comfortable, cozy with ensuite bathroom. Very affordable as well. Nice spacious self catering kitchen, bar and chill area as well as WiFi. It was too cold for a swim but the back packers has a lovely pool which would be in summer. Also conveniently close to major roads and train stations. All in all a great place to stay

The 1322 Backpackers is the best place to start your journey in Pretoria. I've stayed here for a week while I worked for a research institute in Pretoria. The place is located in a very safe neighbourhood and safe public transport (Gautrain), as well as shops, bars, and restaurants are within walking distance. The whole hostel area is clean and charming - they have built a little village out of cute wooden cabins which offer varying types of accommodation from basic 4-bed dorm to single rooms and en-suit cabins. Although the wi-fi was not always perfect in all rooms all the time, they were always very clean, quiet and super cosy. I started every day with a jump into the pool and ended it with cooking some nice dinner together with other guests and treating myself with a nice drink from their 24/7h self-service bar. Due to the unique vibe of the place and the incredible friendly staff my stay did feel more like a vacation with friends in a holiday-resort rather than a solo-business trip. Don't miss out on this one when you stay in Pretoria!

I stayed here for 3 nights on the recommendation of a friend and was very happy with my experience. They were full that weekend so I got upgraded from a shared room to a private en-suite. It was clean, showers were hot, they provide towels, and the bed was really comfortable. I wish there had been a table or chair inside the room for my things but the huts are pretty small. The common areas are nice and it’s easy to meet people. They put out breakfast at 5, which was a lifesaver on my last morning. You can also settle up the night before you leave if you have an early start. Within easy walking distance of the Gautrain and there’s a nice Pick N Pay grocery store a 15 minute walk away. 1322 will be my go-to when I’m in Pretoria.

Very nice place to stay when in Pretoria. The rooms, however more like little shacks, were clean and even towels were provided. There was a very nice community area to gather together and have breakfast or so. Breakfast consisting of bread, spreads, bananas and joghurt (quite nice for a hostel). Even a small bar, a pool and a few dogs running around. I would stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights in February before going to Mozambique. Yzelle, the owner, was incredibly friendly and warm, and I enjoyed chatting to her about South Africa and our travels around the continent. She gave us lots of information about the area and went above and beyond to make our stay a good one. She even sourced me a license plate (I had been collecting them from each country we visited on our route) and had one of her old ones for me when we arrived. We stayed in a private room with a bathroom which was incredibly comfortable and clean. The honesty bar was a nice touch and it’s in a safe nice area. The pool is also really nice. Wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again. Lovely people and great stay.

I spent almost three months at 1322 Backpackers (July, August, September). It was fantastic. The owner (Yzelle) and the staff treated me like a family member. Everybody was really nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and the location is perfect (safe area, Gautrain station and shopping center within walking distance). Nice outdoor facilities, interesting people to meet.

Had an amazing stay at the 1322 Backpackers International ! It's located in a really calm and beautiful neighborhood which is safe to walk around in. You have all stores and restaurants needed close by and you can walk to the Hartfield Plaza within 20 minutes. The dorms and other rooms and the hostel are nice and the beds were comfy. I really liked the big communial kitchen and the honesty bar outside. The hostel also got a TV room with wifi, a nice pool and nice places to hang out at. The owner of the place was so fun and great to spent time with. He will always make sure that you're comfortable and has great plans for the future of the hostel ! Really liked my stay there which was quite long, but he will also book any kind of activities for you. Highly recommend the place if you go to visit Pretoria !

I stayed in the wooden chalets at the back of the property. There`s a good kitchen, plenty of space, and a good sized pool. The management is friendly and helpful. Getting there and away is easy with the Gautrain station a few blocks away. Points to note: the wifi is only really useful in the eating area, so if you are in the back you won`t be able to log on. If you want to pay by credit card, try to sort out your bill the night before. When I checked out their payment system was down, and the staff on hand weren`t able to assist, so I had to go to the bank and withdraw money just before I flew out of the country. Could have been a smoother process. Overall, great place to stay - a good first or last stop in South Africa.
