Highly recommended, both Battambang My Homestay and Battambang. Many of the positive notes in the earlier feedback on this site still apply. Rooms are comfortable and clean, with a fridge as bonus. Hosts are friendly and knowledgeable. Surroundings, in the form of a residential neighborhood, are friendly and quiet. The location is a bit far from the city center, but I was offered the use of a bike which was a good solution and even allowed me to explore the greater surroundings, such as the Wat Kor village. Compared to the other accommodations during my Cambodian travels, the price was a little steep, but fair considering all that was offered. To me, Battambang My Homestay presents the perfect combination of the comfort level of a midscale hotel and the friendliness of a homestay. As to Battambang: I was very glad to have included it in my travel itinerary. Some inhabitants seemed genuinely happy to see me exploring their city, which was endearing, and others just went about their own business, which I found very refreshing. I found Phare (school and circus) to be awesome. The cooking class including visit to the local market (Nary) was another highlight of all my experiences in Cambodia. Additionally, the city has great little galleries and shops. Finally, for those who are interested, some input on the boat trip from Battambang to Siem Reap, as there currently is a lot of conflicting information... For travelers with a bad back, or other physical discomfort, the trip is not to be recommended, at least not now in the dry season, as many of the travelers first needed to sit in the back of a truck, on very rough paths, for about two hours (I was lucky enough to get an inside seat), and the seating in the boat itself also is not very comfortable. Additionally, considering the relatively high costs and relatively long duration compared to traveling by bus or mini van, you must not regard this as a means of transportation only. But if you look at is as an adventurous day trip, chances are that you'll enjoy it very much. I myself found it to be a very nice way to experience (people and bird) life on the water.

Great to spend time in a little village outside of the main town. We stayed with a lovely family and were overwhelmed by the friendliness of the locals. We played football with the kids and wandered round to get a taste of what it’s really like to live in Cambodia. At the house we had the best food I’ve had during my entire trip - the curry was delicious. 💯 reccomend.

Really nice homestay. The owners are such friendly people. Every morning there is a freshly made Khmer breakfast. The rooms are nice too. The place is a little further from the towns centre but they offer bikes to get there. On the checkout day we even got a take away breakfast on our very early morning. Definitely recommend staying there!

What a great experience! Our room was clean and mr and mrs Kun are very friendly and helpful. At arrival there was a problem with the bathroom and we got another room immediately. We had a tuk tuk driver who we could ask to come pick us up, he was very flexible. really good restaurant in the same street (Jonathan - cheap and tasty, very spicy but you can ask not to make it to spicy). It's further away from the city center but we got a bike from the homestay and in 10 minutes you're in the city center. In the evening mr and mrs Kun provided us with fresh fruit and their breakfast is amazing! Note: when you are staying here from Friday to Saturday, be sure to wear earplugs if you want to sleep in. The pagoda is very close and the prayers start very early in the morning (around 6 am) every Saturday.

We really enjoyed our stay at Mr. Kun's homestay. The rooms are set up like a little motel on his family property. The accommodations were clean and spacious. Mr Kun arranged a morning bike tour and an afternoon tuk tuk tour which I would highly recommend. It was the highlight of our Battambang stay. As others have commented you do here chanting from the nearby temples, but it did not bother us. There were free bikes to use if you wanted to ride into town. Battambang is a lovely town and well worth a 2-3 day visit. Mr Kun also arranged a private driver to take us to Siem Reap. Overall Mr. Kun was a great host and was very attentive in making sure you were well looked after.

We had a very nice stay in this lovely guesthouse. Although it is not in the center, it is the opportunity to wander around and see local life. Plus, it is only one dollar by tuk-tuk to reach town. The family made everything perfect for us, they arranged extra bed and prepare our take-away breakfast because we had an early bus.

I stumbled onto Street 1.5 & headed for the nearest Happy Hour joint on this V inhumanely Hot/Muggy Daze! Pun intended! @$0.75 a mug of cold draft Angkor Beer , it sounded pretty darn good to me at that time! 40C + with humudex! Two very pretty young Khmer Ladies were serving us , the only two guests this early afternoon! KimLun & Channthy, And a young man in this 3 member crew. All students. Serving Big Smiles together with the beers , we sat down & chatted.....learnt Buffalo Alley is run by students, having been founded just 2 years ago by a young man , now only 23 years old. KimLun, the Manager, is fluent in English and we talked about the Social Enterprise that was Buffalo Alley...... Tony, the Dutch traveller joined us later and we downed more cold beers with the friendly Staff......and talked about almost everything under the sun as the Sun goes down over the Sanger River! Time to go for me..........Adios.../Auvoir....Sayonara!!! I got KimLun to agree to be my online English Student & promised to come back next Winter to Battambang...I leave for Siem Reap in my trusty Old Moto, thence to Phnom Penh the next day...thence to Canada. Thus ended my very pleasant visit to this calm, friendly & an 'Oasis' of a Bar/Restaurant, serving good Khmer /Western Food besides cold beers/cocktails, etc. And free 'Smiles'! See Ya again Buffalo Alley!!! Paul

Mr. Kun and his family were very sweet to us while we stayed here. They brought us fruit and snacks for our early morning departure the next day, and wished us a very warm goodbye. He had a tuktuk arranged for us without us even asking. Would definitely recommend this homestay if you want a quiet place just a little bit out of the city center.

Clean accomodation in friendly family, very good english. Lokated about 2km from the town center but ideal for a bike trips to the north. Rooms are simple but clean. We had a red lamp in a bathroom, it was irritating me. Tuk tuk pick up was organised from the port. Free bikes are available.

My father and I stayed at Battambang My Homestay for two nights. They didn't have a room with twin beds, but they put an extra bed in our room, which was a cot, but comfortable enough. The main bed was very comfortable, the pillows were full, and the bedding was clean. There was very little traffic or noise at night and we slept soundly. The owner, Mr. Kun, spoke excellent English, and he was friendly, helpful and also an interesting person to talk to. Breakfast was delicious home-cooking, and his family were very hospitable. Mr. Kun sent an email inquiring about our arrival time, and had planned to send someone to meet us at the bus station, but I hadn't checked my email, and ended up paying more for a tuk tuk we found at the bus station. Make sure to check your email before you arrive, as Mr. Kun is very obliging and will have whatever you need ready when you arrive. After arriving, he arranged for a tuk tuk driver to take us around Battambang and on a tour while were there. He spoke good English, wasn't pushy about his tours and had reasonable prices. While the homestay is a bit outside of the town center, it's only $1 to drive there, and we preferred being a bit outside of town so we could enjoy the quiet.
