Zatrzymałem się na weekend i świetnie się bawiliśmy. Greg ma świetne wibracje w pensjonacie, z niewiarygodne widoki. On zna wszystkie wspaniałe miejsca. Nie polecam tego miejsca wyżej ... to prawdziwy skarb ukryty.
With the view of the sea that can't be beat, this is a fantastic place for for couples that just want to stare into each other's eyes or socialize down the road at the friendly Driftwood Hotel bar. Greg Cummings is very knowledgable about the area as well as able to organize a fantastic safari.
What can I say about this place, it really is magical! We had an amazing time in Kenya and Backpacker's Club Malindi played a big part in that. The hostel is a converted luxury home with a stunning ocean front view. Honestly, the view alone is worth the price of admission. The saltwater pool is great. We loved going for midnight swims under the stars. The second floor patio is where the view is at, you'll definitely spend some time soaking it all in. There is a pack of Sykes monkeys that lives near the property, you'll have fun spotting them as they often climb onto the patio! The location is conveniently located next to a street lined with many luxury resorts, which is great as you are a short walk/tuk-tuk/piki-piki ride away from restaurants/sandy beach resorts/spas/bars. There's s large Italian expat community in Malindi so there are lots of Italian dining options for you. Then again, you may never want to leave the Backpacker's! You're about a 20 minute tuk-tuck ride from the airport (only $3-$4!), and 10-15 minute ride from town. The staff were very helpful and it was great to have breakfast taken care of daily. The hostel operator, Greg, is such a great host and overall great guy. He's got a lifetime of cool stories and can party with the best of em too ;) He really made sure we had the best experience. He organized the most amazing Safari with Awahd, who was an incredible Safari guide that could spot animals from miles away. There's also snorkelling and fishing tours that can be arranged. As far as safety goes, I never felt unsafe during my entire time in Malindi. The town is a very modest size (about 200 000 people I believe) and the hostel is on the periphery of the action anyway. The people are very friendly. Compared to countries in south east Asia I've travelled to, the people are far less pushy when trying to sell you things in town, which is nice. The hostel has two guards at night as well. …
Location location location... Greg aka gorilla man keeps everyone amused and informed about the happenings of this gem town on the Indian Ocean. This place has everything one needs for a comfortable stay for people on a budget. Easy cheap access to everything Malindi has to offer. This town needed something like this and it's now open. Try it out. You may not leave.
