If you are looking for a quiet oceanfront getaway, West Plaza Hotel Coral Reef is the place to stay. Located on the water's edge, each room features a private balcony overlooking the lagoon and nearby islands of Meyuns and Babeldaob. The hotel is a great vista point for Palau's famous sunsets. West Plaza Hotel Coral Reef features 14 spacious rooms ranging from standard to studios (w/ kitchenette) to suites. All rooms have cable TV with 45 channels including CNN, NHK, BBC and ESPN.
It is tucked away from "downtown" and that's about 5min worth of driving. Room came fully equiped for simple breakfast cooking, tv, fridge etc. For my needs on this trip it was a perfect match. Josie was extremely helpful and accommodating in every way, so 6 stars for friendliness! Would certainly book again.

This apartment was suggested and organized by Fish 'N Fins. It is not luxurious but it totally met our needs. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom is huge and the small kitchen was sufficient. We were in the 4th floor and had a good view on the ocean. Necessary to mention that there was no shower curtain but there is a hardware store around the corner. Also one has to organize bed linen and towels ourselves. This is certainly something to improve on. The price though was extremely competitive. It is an little bit away from the centre and we did not have a car, so we walked a lot. There are several laundromats very close, therefore doing the laundry is quite convenient. The hotel offer such a service as well but going to the laundromat saves much money. Yes, sometimes it was very noisy outside because the locals meet there. However the balcony door keeps all sounds away and inside it was very calm. We stayed for 3 weeks and did not mind washing the dishes and cleaning the apartment ourselves.…

We stayed here overnight as we couldn't board our live aboard until the day after our late night arrival. I was with a group of 12 underwater photographers, each with 3-4 large luggage bags. The first complaint was that the lobby for check-in was up stairs and the lift for luggage was tiny so it took a very long time and manual labor for us to get all our luggage from the ground floor up to the lobby. Although there was a person behind the desk to check us in, they completely disappeared after they had checked us in. So we had no way to buy bottled water as the refrigerator in the lobby was locked and there were no employees to unlock it. I wouldn't have normally cared, but there were actually signs in the bathrooms saying not to use the faucet water, meaning we needed bottle water, which we did not have. So, no way to brush teeth. Once in the room, it had a small kitchen and basic amenities but everything was old, out-dated and everything just felt dirty. I found bugs and human hair in the bathroom (that wasn't ours) and was honestly worried about sleeping in the bed and the cleanliness (or lack of) of the sheets. There was very little space for the two of us and our luggage. If we had been staying for longer than 24hrs, we would have had essentially no space to walk as we each had two large checked bags and carry-on bags that literally took up all the available floor space if we didn't have them on the beds. I don't care how cheap it was, I will never put myself in that situation again. The room had a balcony and was quiet at night. We did not try the shower as we left as soon as we could once we got up the next morning. There was nowhere that we could find in the vicinity to grab breakfast before we left and there was no one behind the desk for us to ask for suggestions or help.…

We ended up staying at West Plaza Coral Reef Hotel because Palasia was full and they had vacancies. You get the basic necessities here, a clean room, bed, shower. That's about it. They advertised ocean views, which is true, but our room overlooked a barbed-wire junk card full of cars and then the ocean. It is at the end of a road, and only one restaurant near-by with mediocre food, it is a bit of a hike or about at $5 cab ride up to the city and restaurants. Not sure I'd walk around the area alone at night. The room had a tv, but it never worked. The room had a safe, but it never worked. The room we rented was advertised as a "suite", it had a fridge and stove, no microwave, and no cooking ware, no silverware, not even a coffee pot, so not sure how much vacation travelers could do with this kitchenette. You need to request the room be cleaned, this was not a daily service. We had a flight that departed Palau at 2am, they schedule a shuttle that came by on time to go to the airport. The front desk staff was rude, and would not request payment when we checked in, but was very demanding that we come down that instant to pay before check-out, which was very ackward.…

Although we had the time of our lives diving in Palau. This hotel is is not worth a second stay. There's a public park just outside the front balcony, and the locals party there almost every night. The music, and loud voices sometimes went on till early morning. The front parking lot is used by the auto repair shop across the street to park their junk cars. There are a lot better options for the price.

I stayed in this hotel for around 50 nights and I couldn't have had a better place to stay then this Hotel. My room had a small kitchen, queen size bed and oceanview. I payed the monthly rate which made this room perfect for me. The hotel is a bit far from the central so I rented a car for the entire time in Palau (staff helps you finding best rates). Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. On weekends it can be a bit loud (not too bad) during the night since there is a local bar not far from the hotel. Of course, its not the nicest place to stay but its Clean, cheap (monthly rate) and the staff is amazing. I would definitely go there again for a longer stay. +Price +Clean +Staff -Location -bit loud on weekends

+ The room is rather large and in good condition + Beds are comfortable + Staff is very friendly and very helpful + Lines are good and towels are not over-washed to the point of becoming sandpaper + Free rides to restaurants that kickback. + Price is good. + Palau local beer is very good. The Stout is tasty! + Palau + Staff can get a rental car for $35/day and you can add insurance for $10/day. +/- No elevator but only 4 floors and has a luggage elevator +/- Like most places in Palau you should not drink the tap-water +/- Satellite internet is $10 for 5 hours to use over 3 days. Turning off your computer does not stop the clock. Log out or pay. POP email doesn’t work well; use your webmail. +/- 3 channels of TV but I hope you didn’t go to Palau to watch the tube. - In wall air conditioner is loud and just keeps the room at 72F on cloudy days - Front area looks like and is a junk yard. - Mine and many rooms’ hair dryers do not work and cannot be easily replaced because they are hard wired and not plug-in. - You should not drink the tap-water and bottled water is $1 for a small bottle. - Ants in the corner of the bathroom and tiny roach like beings that scoot into the bathroom floor drain. Staff was not interested in the suggestion that a spray was in order after I left. - Location. Arrive late Saturday and surprise: the nearest grocery is a 20 minute walk, no close restaurants open Sunday, hard or impossible to get a taxi on Sunday.…

Although it is a small hotel ( just 14 rooms) but the rooms are very spacious with balconny and full equipments, very convenient. Moreover, the rates is reasonable. The location just on the seaside so we had great view for sunset which I will never forget. The diving is so excited, seeing beautiful fish and coral. I just stayed for 2 nights only, too short, and I think I will come again. I love this place, listen to the sound of the sea, breath the fresh air. You should visit the Meyuns island, very near the hotel. Try to book the room which balcony direct West for the sunset!

It's a budget hotel. Clean and with a good quality. It's a little far from the center (a little village) I think is perfect for the divers with no frills. There is a good pick up servece and all the diving centers go there to pick up you. very tranquil. No nightlife. no beach
