We visit Schronisko Kamieńczyk every year with a group of friends. Although there are many other places in Szklarska poręba, and they probably are better in terms of sleeping conditions, this one is unique. But first about the flaws: - it's a typical mountain hut, so the rooms are very small - there's no kitchen - the water in the shower is sometimes lukewarm - if you want to buy something there, it's a bit pricey AND if you want to eat something good you have to walk down to Szklarska Poręba (about 30-40 minutes on foot to the centre) - you have to know the road to get there by car, also SUV is the best to get there, as there's much snow on the way and that sometimes can be problematic Now for the advantages: - the main advantage is that it is remote. The place is open to the travellers until 6 p.m.. After 6 the owners close doors (owners live there too) and the place is only for the people who live there. There's nothing around, only the sound of the waterfall. The internet doesn't always work and sometimes there's no cell coverage - for me that's a plus, The place is perfect if you want to disconnect from the modern world. - the rooms are small but cosy and warm, the price for person is 40 or 60 zl per night, you get fresh bedlinen, but you have to take everything else with you (e.g. towels, shower gel, cutlery, washing-up liquid and food, of course) - there's no kitchen but in the corridor upstairs there's an electric kettle, a microwave and two small frides for keeping your food in - the fun starts in the evening. Rooms are upstairs, downstairs there's a room for visitors with a fireplace. Owners provide wood for the fireplace, so we usually spend nights sitting at the fireplace, roasting sausages and playing variuos board games - the staff is very very nice and friendly, they can help you with whatever problem you have, twice they helped us with our cars - there was so much snow that we couldn't drive uphill - it's a nice place if you like hiking, the National Park and way to Szrenica starts here, if you want to go to Szklarska Poręba there's a nice walking route (it takes about 30-40 minutes on foot) - it's close to the border with Czechia, so a good starting point to buy some good and cheap Czech beer in Harrachov Generally, I love this place :)…
