The Prague Golden Wheel Hotel (U Zlatého Kola) is a small, comfortable and romantic hotel, located in the historical centre, near the Prague Castle and Charles Bridge in one of the oldest parts of the city - the Lesser Town (Malá Strana). You will find the Golden Wheel Hotel in the center of Prague, in the Nerudova street number 28, in the most famous and picturesque part of the city. The street on which the hotel is located was once part of the Royal Mile, or King's Road, called so because all Czech kings passed through here on their way to their coronation at the St. Vitus Cathedral, coming from across the river via the Charles Bridge. Passing along noble houses, small artisinal shops and surreal mysterious buildings, you will get to us on the same ancient cobblestone paved path as the King once would.

My mother and I had a wonderful stay at the Golden Wheel. The room was spacious, the beds are really comfortable and everything was very clean and the double shower was great. Outside was very cold but the room was very warm, we had to open the window! The room also had a smart TV which we were able to log into our Netflix account. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the young man working nights. The location of the hotel is fantastic with only a 5-10 walk to the Charles Bridge. It is halfway up a rather steep hill and the entry steps are a bit awkward. Whilst there are lifts in the building there are many areas within the hotel that have 2-3 steps to access various rooms, which was a little awkward with our suitcase.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Very good location, spacious and clean rooms, charming place. The breakfast was perfect even though there was not a big selection. The best thing was the friendly lady at the reception  Very funny – thanks! I had a great stay and can recommend that place for sure!

Very friendly receptionist, nice big rooms with modern furniture, as you would not expect in such an old house from the Middle Ages. In the rooms there is a safe, coffee/tea-machine, fridge and air-conditioning.Bathroom with everything you need. Very clean. Our rooms were on the street-side, but not noisy. They did not charge us for the third person in one of the rooms we had booked for our party of five people. Breakfast was nicer than expected ( as read in former reviews) . There was even cooked vegetables! Variety of eggs, sausages, yoghurt , fruit, cake etc. Efficient coffee-machine. Only inconvenience of this little hotel if you come by car, there is no reserved parking- space for hotel guests. You have to be lucky as we were to find one within the blue lines in front of the hotel. For this you have to pay a certain ( little) amount per day.

We arrived at hotel and I was sick with a stomach bug. I threw up in the lift. The Staff could not be more helpful and friendly nothing was too much bother. They took our bags to our room and when I had recovered they asked me how I was. The room was everything we could ask for comfortable and clean. Breakfast was nice with plenty to choose from. There was a even mixed veg!! The location was good and close to the castle and main attractions. A very good Vegan restaurant and other places to eat and drink including a lovely Irish pub the Three fiddles. We loved our visit and will have no hesitation on staying here again

Just came back from spending a long weekend in Prague. The location is excellent with only a short 10-minute walk uphill to the castle and downhill to some great bars and restaurants. The hotel was very clean and had a lovely vintage feel but with a modern make-over. The room we had overlooked the street and was big, clean, and surprisingly not that noisy with the windows open at night. This is not a hotel for stags as it was very calm and quiet so worked great for the wife and me. The staff was friendly and as everyone commented the breakfast was good and lots of it but the same every day but can't grumble for the price we paid for the stay. Would stay again if we ventured back to Prague.

not bad, but the ladies on the front desk, maybe except one were wearing jeans, which I do not find very professional to a 4* hotel. One of them was having her baby with her too. Breakfast was very poor. For a 4* star hotel, the breakfast was a disappointment. I stayed in this hotel 4 years ago and the breakfast was outstanding, this time, the quality was more for a 3* star hotel. In the night, there was no lightning in corridors, we reported it to the front desk and they said they will switch the light on. I understand in post covid times, doing business is difficult, on the other hand saving money in wrong place. Wifi connection weak

We feel like we hit the jackpot staying at the Golden Wheel. We got a cheap Uber from the airport straight to the hotel which is understated but positioned on beautiful cobbled street. The street is on a steepish hill (bear in mind if you choose to walk a lot) but located within a really short distance to Prague Castle, but also a short walk to Mala Strana for shops and restaurants, or a really cheap Uber into the city centre! The staff were helpful when we arrived with directions and where the attractions were which was nice! Our room was spacious and had a separate dressing table area which was perfect. Bathroom spacious and and nice decor. The only thing we missed was a duvet but that’s just a UK comfort! Breakfast is limited but nice selection of food which seemed to be replenished quite often. I have already recommended this hotel to my family and friends, and wouldn’t hesitate staying here again on our next visit!

The Hotel is really nice, we had a small suite with terrace and the room is really spacious and very clean. Staff is really helpful and friendly, speaking good English and fluent Russian. Breakfast is ok, good enough to fuel up before the way down the hill. The location is good, with several Embassies, lots of restaurants and souvenir shops, but keep in mind that hotel is located almost on the top of the hill, below Castle, 5-7 min. walk uphill from the tram station, though nothing dramatic. Certainly recommend it if you don’t mind walking. Also keep on mind that some of the rooms have no elevator access so if you’re traveling with heavy luggage you’ll count those stairs, like we did.

Just returned from a really enjoyable 4 night stay at the Golden Wheel Hotel. Situated on the very picturesque Nerudova Strana in a quiet area of the city, half way up hill (so beware anyone with mobility issues). 10 minute walk to the Charles Bridge and 5 minutes to the Castle.(at the top of the hill). This is a relatively small and wonderfully quaint hotel with not very many rooms. We (2 couples) were in the top floor of the hotel with rooms opposite to each other. Rooms 411 and 412. This was perfect for us. Plenty of storage space in the rooms, large bathrooms. Room 412 had stand alone shower and 411 had a bath with shower over it. A kettle with a selection of teas and coffee available in the rooms. TIP if you are like me and enjoy English black tea then bring your own tea bags and purchase milk in a supermarket. There is a small fridge to store drinks etc. Hairdryer also available along with travel size Shampoo, shower gel, cotton pads/buds and shower caps. Staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful. We were able to get directions/travel route and purchase our tram tickets from reception. Breakfast was perfect for us. Selection of cereal, fruit, spreads. Croissants, bread/toast, pastries, scrambled egg, frankfurters, cold meats and cheese along with fruit juices and tea/coffee. Lactose free and almond milk were provided by hotel. Breakfast was 8am - 9.30 am. We stayed over St Valentines Day and there were two little loveheart boxes of chocolates left by the hotel in our rooms. Very nice touch♥️ Rooms were very warm but there is an air con system if you need it.

Have just returned from a 4 night stay at this lovely hotel. Very pleasant welcome ( I think receptionists name is Polina, if this is wrong I apolgise). Room on fourth floor accessed by lift. We were on a birthday trip and there was a birthday card and small gift waiting for me in the room. Room was very spacious and clean, as was bathroom. The only comment I would make is that the only English speaking channels on tv are news. As we were out of the room most of the time it was not an issue, I just like to watch a bit of tv at night. If this is an issue, i would suggest bringing a suitable device. The breakast was continental style with eggs and sausage. There was plenty to choose from. The hotel is in a perfect location for sightseeing and is just 5 mins walk from the tram and 10 mins to metro, both of which will take you all over the city. We purchased a 3 day travel ticket for about £10 and this can be used on all trams, buses and metro ( also Petrin hill fenicular). Hotel is on quite a steep, cobbled hill so may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties. All in all a perfect hotel for a city break. One word of advice, avoid the mini markets next to hotel. Goods here are about twice the price of other shops ( we fell for this the first night before we had got used to the currency) and 2 out of 5 items were over a year out of date. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this hotel and hope to return.
