Sandpiper Ocean Cottages are perfectly located 8km north of Bicheno on the East Coast of Tasmania. Set on 4 acres of natural coastal gardens, each cottage is private and spacious. A short stroll through the dunes and you can walk barefoot for miles on pristine white sand, fish from the beach or swim safely. The four 2 bedroom cottages sleep 5 people comfortably and have full laundry and kitchen facilities. They are spacious and modern inside, with cosy log fires, rear decks & the relaxing sound of the ocean. Our 1 bedroom cottage, Ocean View, is also fully self contained & ideal for couples - with a king bed, & view of the ocean. For those wanting a bit more space we also have 'The Beach House' - a stunning 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with beautiful ocean views on 40 acres with its own beach access. We’re close to Douglas Apsley National Park, Freycinet National Park/Wineglass Bay & The Bay of Fires. Sandpiper Ocean Cottages is the perfect place to relax, unwind and be inspired.

We stayed here for four nights and wished it had been for longer! Our one bedder was very cute and the breakfast tray of goodies was delicious. Expect eggs, bread, jam, butter and a couple of types of cereal and milk. The cottages are nicely spaced out so you have a nice feeling of seclusion. Its an easy stroll down to the beach and my husband was out fishing in the mornings. The cottage is spacious and well furnished with books, magazines and videos for a big night in. The kitchen is well kitted out for cooking with a few condiments as well. A sneaky peak in to the visitors book shows a large number of repeat visitors and alot of locals which is a huge endorsement. The cottages are about a 10 minute drive in Bicheno which has a small IGA if you want to self cater although the options aren't great. Its also home to the Lobster shack which is not to be missed. This place is perfect if you want to breathe in sea air, walk along the beach and have peace and quiet. We look forward to going back.

We had an exceptional stay at Sandpiper Cottages. We were grateful for the spaciousness, comfort and peace of our two bedroom cottage. One of us was most unwell, and we couldn't have been in a better place to begin to recover. The Cottage was equipped with EVERYTHING! So much thought has gone into providing thoughtful extras, including a quality welcome hamper. Similarly, there is equipment to make you comfortable at the beach. And what a beach! Pristine white sand and turquoise sea. I had it to myself on a warm, sunny September afternoon. What a find!

This small resort was just delightful. The cottages are well spaced and set in beautiful grounds with easy access to the beach and ocean. Our cottage was well designed, comfortable and well equipped. The welcome pack was much appreciated. Quiet and peaceful. Friendly and helpful owners. I wish we had been able to stay longer

There is a reason some places get a 5 star rating on Trip Advisor. Sandpiper is a perfect example. On top of a virtually deserted, in some ways wild beach, one of the biggest most comfortable beds we have slept in, wood fire, plenty of space to spread out and many more simple but effective touches that previous reviewers have touched on. You are doing yourself a disservice by not spending sometime at Sandpiper.

Our four night stay in one of the Sandpiper Ocean Cottages was everything we had wanted for a relaxing, peaceful getaway. The close proximity to the excellent Denison Beach and the privacy of the cottages, enabled by their surrounding bush environment were only two highlights. Another one was the thoughtful and generous breakfast basket provided to us. We loved the quirky wooden characters dotted around the site and the wooden shed with useful beach supplies. Two separately located benches on the short walk to the beach were a thoughtful addition for looking out over the ocean in the early morning or later evening to make the most of the beautiful scenery. The cottage was well appointed and the kitchen well supplied with utensils. A very enjoyable stay and we hope to be back in the future.

Four nights with my dog in Sandpiper Cottage was a perfect getaway. This is the third visit to these cottages and it will not be the last. The property has so much to offer - private cottages, one minute walk to the beach, everything available in the cottage, a generous welcome food basket on arrival, dogs are welcome and much more. The cottage was clean and neat, kitchen had more than the essentials to use, fireplace for winter nights and dressing gowns in the wardrobe! Congratulations to the hosts for providing such a lovely retreat.

My wife and I plus 2 friends had 2 of these cottages for 2 nights. While not new, they have a very comfortable feel with good size living area and a comfy bed. Only a short walk through the sand dunes to a beautiful white sandy beach. They supply a basket of provisions for breakfast which is quite generous. Each cottage is private due to the layout of the grounds and trees etc. It all makes for a very pleasant stay. Mike L

The cottages have thoughtful little touches throughout from the welcome hamper with fresh sour dough bread and jams and cereals and eggs from their lovely free-range chooks to fresh flowers on the table. The whole feel of the property is one of relaxed, serenity. The beach is the most beautiful beach in Tasmania. It really is pet friendly and our dogs loved the walks on the beach and being able to sleep on their beds by the fire. The bed was really comfy and beautifully made up. The kitchen is actually fully equipped, you can very comfortably make a meal there. Free wifi that actually worked! The host is relaxed and friendly and they make sure you have everything you need whilst leaving you to enjoy the peace. We just wish it would have been available for longer. Bicheno is a lovely beachside village.

A recent weekend found us staying at the 'Sandpiper' - one of the cottages under the Sandpiper Cottages group of accommodation places. It is not a stretch by any imagination to say that this little cottage, and the facilities offered by the owners is outstanding! My wife and I have stayed at many smaller cabin or cottage style places around Tassie and this one is up there in our top two. Comfortable, fully equipped, perfect location, nothing's a bother, welcoming hamper, great fireplace, extremely comfy bed, library of books and dvds, Foxtel etc., etc., etc., - the list goes on and on. It feels like you've turned up at a relative's house for a weekend. And to top it all off, you have 12klms of Denison Beach right on your doorstep. No road noise, just the waves pleasantly crashing on the shore. Super pet-friendly to boot. You WILL NOT be disappointed with anything at Sandpiper. We're already checking dates for our next stay!

Excellent accommodation tucked amongst the trees for privacy yet a short walk through the dunes to the endless beach. A warm welcome and a box of breakfast provisions on arrival was most welcomed. Our cottage had an cosy fire with plenty of wood provided as well as super efficient wall panel heaters, no reason to be cold here . A large rear verandah with a thoughtful dog gate provided so our doggie could enjoy the views and ocean smells with us. After an early walk on the beach on a very cold morning we head back to the warm cottage to enjoy a delicious breakfast, real coffee and good book. Three days of this, doing absolutely nothing just enjoying beach walks and the surroundings….perfect !
