This was my third visit to Goebels and I was thrilled again. The hotel rooms are nice, a bottle of good drinking water in the fridge everyday, exceptional breakfast buffet , wonderful selections for lunch and dinner, taking care of guests’ needs concerning allergies. The Spa is spacious and equipped wit an indoor and outdoor pool, different saunas, a whirl pool, Kneipp basin, solarium, infrared sauna and a saline room. The beauty spa offers wonderful treatments with well trained, courteous staff. A little boutique is also on site. The owner/manager family personally takes care of the guests, the team is well trained, super friendly and helpful. We were here over New Years and the entertainment was outstanding with a special emphasis to detail and the wellbeing of the guests. I will be back, if possible for the garden festival in July, but most certainly for next Silvester. The surroundings invite to walks, visits to interesting cities and historical places. A museum and water castle are on the premises. What a great place 💓

I stayed at the „Göbel‘s Schlosshotel” for two nights in October 2021 with my parents and three sisters. We had a really good time, overall, although there is some room for improvement. We had three double rooms on the second floor of the East wing. The hotel consists of several buildings. The East wing can be reached via an overpass from the main building which houses the reception, restaurant, and spa. However, the overpass is on the third floor so that we had to go up two stories, use the overpass and go down one floor to reach our rooms. It was slightly confusing at first and nobody showed us to our rooms. We were just given general directions. The rooms were clean and well-equipped. However, the decor was rather tacky and not up to five-star standard, in our opinion. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and spacious with a good shower and a nice range of toiletries provided. The spa is very nice. It consists of a heated outdoor pool that can be used at any time of the year, a nice indoor pool, two jacuzzis, three different saunas, a steam bath, a number of relaxation rooms, and a cafeteria. Drinks (tea, coffee, sparkling and still water, iced tea) are provided free of charge. All the ladies in our group had a massage which we all thought was good but not outstanding. We had booked half-board. Frankly, none of us thought the food was up to five-star standard. Breakfast was buffet style and consisted of the usual choices that one gets at any big hotel, nothing out of the ordinary. Dinner was buffet style the first night and à la carte the second. The starters on the first day were good. However, none of the meat options for main course appealed to me (nor my sisters), so I had the fish. It was OK, but nothing to write home about. The desserts were good. The starters on the second day were good as well, but the rest of the four-course meal really wasn’t. The pumpkin soup was rather bland and contained strange morsels of meat, the main course was just ordinary chicken with pasta and asparagus and the dessert consisted of different kinds of ice creams and mousses none of which were very tasty. One of them was basil ice cream for example. It just tasted like cold basil. The drinks were rather overpriced, I thought. All of the staff were very polite and friendly. All the servers in the restaurant were very attentive. Some of the people at reception were a bit confused, though, particularly concerning who had booked which massage (it wasn’t complicated – four of us had booked the same one) and which massages had or hadn’t already been paid for. To sum it up: we thought this was a good hotel. If it had been four-star and priced accordingly, I would have given it five points. As it was, it fell a bit short of our expectations.

Me and my friend chose this hotel for a one-week spa-vacation. Unfortunately the place could not live up to our expectations. Loud screaming kids were ruling the pool area with parents who didn’t bother to do anything about it. And no one from the staff feeling responsible to handle the situation until there were multiple complaints at the front desk about it. They were poorly understaffed overall. That meant we waited over 30min at breakfast until anyone would ask us for coffee or even a simple “good morning”. Same for dinner - 3h for a simple 4 course dinner. Wow. Some of the staff were not even very polite. Didn’t ask us for drinks at dinner. Not giving us any chance to order some wine (btw EVERY glass costs 7,50€ - which we didn’t mind the price tag but seemed a bit weird). For dinner we had to chose the four course dinner. There the first two were set and you could only vary the main course. Doesn’t sound too bad but all the courses were so specific and not really crowd pleasers. The menu at the pool bar is just a joke. Soup, pasta and salads. Not really what I’m looking for as a snack. But that certainly is a matter of taste. The rooms are well maintenances but overall not up to date. Lots of old wood, gold, weird art, etc. And since we stayed at the second floor and the elevator only goes up to the first floor we had to carry our luggage ourselves. All in all we went home two days early because we simple didn’t enjoy our stay. Not what you would expect from a (apparently) 5 star hotel.

The hotel is located in a small village near Bad Hersfeld and a few minutes away from the highway. But very quiet, a combination of the old castle and the new building with amazing modern spa area, sauna and swimming pool (inside and outside), great terrace and places to relax. The castle courtyard is completed at the fourth side with an old castle surrounded by water, a moat, in former times for the defense. Nice suites are available in the old buildings, well renovated and each of them with a special theme. Also the rooms inside the new building are modern, but adapted to the style of the location. We had an arrangement for three at Christmas in a cozy suite, great room, tv, safe, minibar, two balconies, bathroom with two washbasins, shower and bathtub, very clean. The service was excellent, also at the restaurant in the morning and evening. The breakfast buffet offers all different options you need, in the evening we choose the great menus, always with a starter, soup, different main dishes available (fish, meat and vegetarian) and a dessert. Excellent cuisine! The bar offers all kind of cocktails, different beers and wine selection. Service at the reception and at the spa reception is very kind and guest oriented. The massage was professional, the spa area is a beautiful place and invites for relaxing. We enjoyed our stay at every minute and will return certainly.

The bathroom was not in mint condition, with traces of the previous guests here and there. The room was spacious, extremely well fitted and otherwise very comfortable. Unfortunately - after asking for the bathroom to be cleaned more thoroughly - things did not improve much. This is a pity because it can spoil an otherwise impeccable experience. Apart from this the hotel is very pleasant, with a mix of modern and old style, and it is located among the remains of the old castle. The reception service is very good, with kind and efficient people that speak good English. There is a gym, a real swimming pool and there are tracks starting from just outside the hotel that take you to through the nearby wooded hills. The breakfast offers a great choice of hot and cold food and a chef is at the guest's disposal for cooking fresh omelettes. The rates are very convenient given the quality of the whole. I will certainly use it again.

The hotel was very quiet. The rooms where big enough and the bed was good. Every room has a balcony. Also breakfast and dinner where very good. The most of the time we could choose the buffet. The hotel was situated in a small village.

Stayed overnight at the hotel, great place, the nostalgia of being in the courtyard of a 15th century castle is very overwhelming. Overall the location is good and the room with the balcony is quite nice. The problem is that the staff could be more friendly and accommodating, being vegetarian there was almost nothing to eat on the buffet dinner except for an asparagus/potato baked. The chef did not want to make the effort to make something vegetarian for us and the staff insisted on our joining the buffet which I did not understand as you want to pay for eating not looking. Eventually had to go back to the town to get to eat something, this should not happen at such a hotel. Also sometimes it is difficult to understand few things, the hotel puts the breakfast spread in one room and then to eat it you have to cross the hallway go through another room and then look for space to sit, so probably if you missed the jam, go without it or make the effort.

We booked a spa package for two days. The spa area is nothing special, any decent five-star hotel would have a swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna. Our room was large but the decoration was of doubtful taste. Breakfast and dinner (we had half board) were of execellent quality. Service is very kind and attentive. Regarding the spa treatments, yes to the facial massage, an absolute no to the back and neck massage.

This is an excellent hotel in every respect. The hotel is built on the grounds of a small medieval castle, with the town museum also on the property,. Everybody I interacted with was multi-lingual, helpful and friendly, The cuisine was amazing, with both nternational and regional choices. There are Spa services available but I cannot comment on them, except to say I would expect them to be top notch like the rest of the establishment. I gave it 5 stars for "Value" (although it is expensive) because "you get what you pay for" here. Parking is well sign-posted but involves a short walk. Internet is not free, but is reasonably priced.
