Detailed Reviews
I stayed overnight at The Fir Trees Hotel Strabane on the 3rd of August 2007 as part of a driving holiday around Ireland.
The receptionsist was very pleasant and helpful, the food in the restaurant was fine.
As for the Hotel itself, my stay was far from pleasant. At around 2am I was awoken by the intense heat of a full on radiator which could not be turned off in the room, meaning I had to dress and find someone in the bar to turn off the main control in the lobby - an area that was host to a very noisy party of a couple of dozen or so revellers.Apparantly, someone had tampered with the control.
A further attempt to sleep was thwarted at around 3am by my locked door being opened by someone claiming to have been given the wrong key. Fortunately, whoever it was realised their mistake and exited pretty swiftly. How was that for security ? I had my key in the room.
The final straw was around 5am when I was once again awoken by a TV blaring in the next room.
Following my return home I wrote to the Hotel Managress on the 13th of August listing my concerns and as of the 1st of September, I had not had the courtesy of a response from the hotel. Great customer relations!!
Regarding the actual quality of this Hotel, I considered the room to be very ordinary -bordering on the slightly grotty -but as it
was probably one of very few, if any other Hotels in the Strabane area, I probably had little choice, but in hindsight would have been better off sleeping in my car. This place gave me the impression of being a drinker's pub rather than a Hotel.
I would definitely give The Fir Trees a wide berth on any future visits to Ireland. What a first impression of the area !!

We stayed for 5 nights at The Fir Trees last month and had a wonderful time. We received the warmest of welcomes from the staff on arrival and they continued, without exception, to be so helpful and friendly throughout the stay, particularly Sean, Roisin and Ellie, they literally could not do enough for you. The rooms are extremely comfortable with modern bathrooms and are all extremely clean with plenty of tea/biscuits etc. The food in the hotel is so good we just did not bother eating anywhere else. We will definitely return and highly recommend The Fir Trees on every level. Well done team.

Had a great stay at the hotel during our recent visit to Strabane.
Everyone was so friendly and helpfull. Enjoyed the food when we had meals in hotel, good selection for breakfast. Room was kept very clean and tidy.
Good to see all returning to normal following the fire last year.
Thanks to everyone for an enjoyable stay.

Went for afternoon tea with my family. Have to say the afternoon tea itself was lovely the scones were to die for and the soup and sandwiches were lush. Tea itself was cold and we had to go looking for a waitress to ask for more as we were kind of forgotten about out in the foyer of the hotel.

We have stopped here for food a few times in the past, the last time it wasn't very good but we decided to chance it again today, order something different off the menu to see if things have improved any,
unfortunately the standard of food on offer has got even worse, very expensive for what is very average food, waiting staff were friendly but we not be returning again.

Apart from our food being ok, the atmosphere wasnt good. Not once were we asked if everything was ok or if we enjoyed it. When we paid the bill again i am not even sure i got a thank u. It was a large group and quite alot of money had been spent both with food and drink. As for the toilets they are disgusting. Not sure how this even gets the title of being a hotel.

We had booked a family meal following graveyard Sunday having lost our mother approximately 8 months ago. The starters we're fine but the main course to follow was dire. Cold plates with cold food. The service was also very poor and very slow
Won't be back.

Stayed for one night with husband and parents, and it was so bad.
Noisy, dirty, rundown room, the worst breakfast display I have ever experienced in a hotel, and a mediocre lunch.
Would never stay again.

Stayed recently and I must say this is a lovely little hotel. Good food in the bar and was busy, which is always a good sign. I had a lovely big room with lots of space and z large bathroom with a jacuzzi bath. I've no hesitation in recommending this place to stay and eat in.

Had a beautiful carvery with my husband, mum, dad & sister on 6th Aug 2017while passing Strabane. Excellent staff, food. Spoiled for choice! I had booked so was surprised to have to wait. All went well except payment - the girl told me first attempt of paying didn't work so I attempted again with success!!
While banking online, because my a/c wasn't right! I noticed I'd been charged TWICE! Almost £140!
I contacted Fir Trees on Sunday 13th Aug 2017 to report my dissatisfaction. This girl took my details and reasons, for someone to ring me back after carvery.
Today, 22 Aug: More disappointed with no feedback from anyone! Rang to speak with a manager, who rang me back after lunch!
Initially,John took my card details for a refund. He tried to offered me a refund by voucher! I declined! I checked TOTAL of refund? John confirmed £13.95! I advised him "I dont think so! The amount is almost £70!"
He then asked me for proof of double charges from my statement. I agreed I'd try- it didn't work on my mobile. I contacted John again requesting he would have to check as I needed this sorted asap. He agreed to check numerous hotel records, reluctantly, but would. I confirmed it was the Sunday carvery over 2 weeks ago. I offered John the date funds were taken out of my a/c. to help as 8/8/17. John told me it was a Tuesday JUST 2 weeks ago (in a sarcastic tone), stated he wasn't great with calendars, but that was his birthday, so I was definitely there on the Tuesday! I firmly confirmed I was there on 6th & 8th was the delay in banking transactions. I was annoyed now that I was being questioned unprofessionally, when trying to give correct details as John didn't seem to have any details to handle my complaint appropriately, efficiently as he stated "I got a note after lunch today and I'm ringing to help you & the line wasn't great earlier!" I confirmed he was the 3rd person I'd spoken took in the Fir Trees & the lines weren't all bad to get the details so wrong!
I hope all managers & bar staff do not treat customers in this manner? They not only let down the Fir Trees but all the other excellent staff who working there!
I still await feedback and refund!! Not impressed!
