El Blok is an iconic inn by the sea - a bar and restaurant with rooms - that aims to be a soft landing for the intrepid traveler after a hard day of relaxation. Affordable, simple rooms appointed with touch of luxe, it has a visual style like nowhere else. Colored hidrolico tiles, exposed concrete, native woods, clean, spare, exciting spaces. All this in a building that is gold LEED certified for it's sustainable design. El Blok is part sculpture, part oasis. Impossibly serene far flung beaches, great restaurants and only a few hotels, Vieques is a strange jewel of an island amongst the beauty and understated glamour of the Caribbean. 6 Miles to the east of Puerto Rico, and a short 20 minutes flight from San Juan, Vieques is in Puerto Rico's backyard...And light years from anywhere.

We had roof top drinks to stunning views followed by a delicious dinner in the main floor restaurant. The vibe was great. But the extra special touch came 2 weeks after we were there. I had left my expensive sunglasses on the table and though I went back the next morning to inquire I assumed they were lost. Fast forward 2 weeks and I received a phone call from the hotel that someone from security had turned them in. It took a few weeks but the hotel shipped them back to me safe and sound. THAT is customer service!

Rooftop Jacuzzi sunset, I mean come on. How much better can it get. Not to mention the attentive and overly accommodating concierge. Room was perfect and exactly what I was looking for, bed extremely comfortable. Shoutout to Pato for being you. So courteous.

Beautiful hotel, very helpful, very clean. Comfortable, kind, great rooftop deck. Highly recommend the larger room. Great cocktails. Easy walking to all things Esperanza. Dinner was excellent and reasonably priced. Super kind staff. Love the complimentary beach towels.

I picked this hotel in Esperanza hoping it would be more quiet than guest rooms above restaurants/bars along the malecon strip, as well as being adults only. Cars still drove by around the corner blaring loud music, but not terribly late. Roosters announce the sunrise, but we didn't notice while using white noise. Our Esquina (corner) room was serviceable and had an industrial concrete feel which matches the description and photos online. We were not able to select a room with an ocean view but had one tiny corner of the balcony where you could see water if you squinted. The better view was from the roof where we enjoyed live music one evening, and the hot tub to ourselves later that night. Towels and beach chairs to borrow were a nice touch, which we used daily. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, instead tried a different place along the boardwalk each of 3 nights. We were not able to take advantage of morning coffee: it did not open until 8am and we were already gone for the day to our activities by then. A Keurig in the room to make tea would have been appreciated. The bathroom was very small: there was a half door on the shower and water would go all over the floor. Water temperature was unpredictable; they even had to provide notes on how to get hot water for the shower. We rented a car for our stay; the hotel does not have a parking lot, but there is a public dirt parking lot directly across the street that had plenty of available parking every day. Overall I was mostly satisfied with this funky-looking hotel as a base for our activities on beautiful Vieques.

It’s a quirky hotel situated perfectly for bio bay excursions. Staff was mostly friendly, but definitely seemed tired and it’s not even mid season. Room was very comfortable, but the design of the hotel made it noisy. Bring ear plugs if you like quiet sleeping. Restaurant was excellent!!!

El Blok claims to be "a bar and a restaurant with rooms". The bar and evening restaurant are closed two days of the week... Brunch is only available one day of the week on Sundays. It's more rooms with an occasional restaurant. "Affordable, simple rooms appointed with touch of luxe, it has a visual style like nowhere else. Colored hidrolico tiles, exposed concrete, native woods, clean, spare, exciting spaces.". The rooms and corridors are 90% concrete. No doubt someone with a degree in design and blue hair thought that this was a good idea. It looks like a building site crossed with an old Victorian baths. Luxe ? The bed was decent and the shower ok, but no water in the room (there was water available downstairs) and no coffee or kettle ( again, coffee downstairs, but only from 8-10 and whisked away immediately after ) Air con was very good, nice view of the chickens for us and a balcony, and a swing and jacuzzi on the top floor, but seriously, the concrete ? It just doesnt work. Even for a laugh.

This was a great location on Vieques. The hotel was beautiful and the room was clean, spacious and airy. The restaurant, Placita, on site was delicious, and pretty much what we ate every night since it was slow season. The staff were very accommodating and helpful with getting around the island.

We stayed here in late June 2023. It exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious and clean. The air conditioning worked great which is lovely after a hot day on the beach. It is positioned at the end of the strip in Esperanza. This was ideal because it was close to all the restaurants but also the closest walk to the beach. The hotel even provided beach towels and chairs which was a nice touch. Transportation was easy getting there from the airport and the hotel staff helped arrange a taxi for getting to the ferry when we left. Overall I would highly recommend it if staying in Esperanza!

Not great, The hotel is pricey for what they offer, they only have a small hottub at the rooftop, they do not offer daily housekeeping and the front desk employees are not so welcoming or ar the best at hospitality. The restaurant was really good, I will definitely return to the place only to eat.

It's just perfect, perfect location, room, check-in, check-out. Near to restaurants and beach. Everything was amazing! they help us to get a taxi, the restaurant in the hotel is good and the others near are good as well. Renting a jeep is cheaper than a golf car, for sure you need to rent a jeep to get faster to most of the beaches. Their rooftop is with an amazing view and on Sundays there is a DJ with music. We didn't want to leave.
