Spectacular three story granite building proudly boasts six individually styled bedrooms ranging from the ethnic origins of The Biko room to the regal opulence of the Louis Room. With full restaurant and bar serving delicious food and drinks all day - seven days a week.
Hands down one of the best places we have been for lunch in the area. The menu provides a huge number of options and our experience is that all are delicious. We have sampled the king prawn linguine and the sea bass, along with the pies. Absolutely wonderful and a lovely venue to boot. The staff are delightful too. We will definitely be back and look forward to experiencing the beer garden in the summer.

We're a family of 3 and came here with another family of 3. Having not visited here for a few years (due to the food not being great under previous management) we'd heard that the food was much better under the new management.....we all had delicious meals, portions were great and the service was great too and not rushed at all. Very different from our last experience, we're going to try the Sunday lunches next. Would recommend based on our most recent visit :-)

As a group of mums we went to The Hunting Lodge for dinner last night. There were 12 of us and I didn't know what to expect- I've had quite a few group meals where they simply couldn't maintain the standard when catering for a larger group. So I chose wisely. I neednt have worried- the food was excellent (in fact one of the best roasts I've eaten in years). I looked at what others had chosen and could tell everything was made on site. The sticky toffee pudding looked incredible! The staff were attentive, yet left us to chat and we didn't feel pressurised to leave. They had a female vocalist, who was absolutely brilliant- she had us up dancing so the atmosphere was great. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

This is a great gastro pub. We are local so not stayed over but the bar is well stocked, the food is really very good, bordering on excellent if I'm honest but the jewel in the crown are the staff. Not one member of staff seems to be anything but happy to be there working. A great accolade to the management team. This is now our local pub and we are regular diners too.

Stayed 2 nights. Friendly efficient & professional staff. Ate in the restaurant one night & all three of us enjoyed our meals each had different & despite a large party we were served quickly. Room was large & we were upgraded from single beds to a double. Would definitely recommend & will return when next visiting friends in the area.

The building looks lovely on arrival with string lights and a welcoming entrance. The downstairs again is really lovely and welcoming, cosy with a roaring fire. The food was lovely, the cannelloni was really tasty and the portions are very generous! What lets this place down is the rooms.. I can only comment on the one I stayed in but this wasn't good at all. I was placed in Yoko, a twin room. The room was absolutely freezing with single pane windows and laminate flooring throughout rather than carpet, which made it even colder! The twin beds were on a strange wooden board style four poster frame which creaked all the time and to say it is November there was just sheets on the bed with a fluffy style top sheet.. no actual duvet - I had to use both sheets from both beds and slept in my clothes. The bathroom had a lot of mould in it around the shower and cracked shelving.. the towels still had faint traces of make up on aswell. All in all lovely food but not a great hotel. …

We got a very warm welcome arriving at the Hunting Lodge. The rooms we stayed in were beautifully decorated, although the bathroom could do with a refresh. There’s a good menu with plenty of choice and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. During the week breakfast is cereals, croissant, toast and fruit. A good location and a good night’s stay.
