The Gattopardo House, situated in the historical centre of Catania, within a noble Palace of the 1800's has a view of the bustling Via Etnea. It is walking distance from all the main monuments of the city, shops and restaurants where one can taste the delicious typical Sicilian cuisine. The rooms are spacious and bright, some are furnished in a classical style and others are modern, all with balconies, air conditioning, television, safe, free wifi, wardrobe, desk, toiletries and hair dryer in the bathrooms. We offer both Standard and Superior accomodation. Some standard rooms are furnished in a modern style with an elegant touch and bright colours others in a classical style with original floor tiles and frescoed ceilings. These rooms have outside private bathrooms to be used exclusively by guests. Superior rooms, on the other hand, are furnished mainly in a classical style with ensuite and balcony overlooking Via Etnea. The Gattopardo House offers free wifi, has a lift, a kitchen and a dining room are available for guests. In the near vicinity there is a paying car park.

This is a beautiful old hotel in a great location. REALLY comfortable queen bed, AC, reasonably quiet and a good price. Would definitely use again! No breakfast but many lovely cafes close by, walkable yo all things “Catania” but recommend bus or can to train station

I stayed here with a friend for two nights and had a great experience. The staff was friendly, check in was easy. The AC worked pretty well too. The location is centrally located so it's easy to walk everywhere. They also ordered us a cab to the airport which was really helpful. I'd stay here again.

If you are a movie buff, interior decorator, photographer or such this place will take you back in time to its style and authenticity. It’s absolutely fabulous with no detail amiss ready to be used for a movie or a photo shoot. Located right in the center of Catania, close to the perpetual energy of sightseeings, restaurants and bars the large ultra clean, quiet and comfortable rooms with high ceilings provide the best and cool (AC) sanctuary one needs after a long Summer day. Please note this place is for the utmost sophisticated travelers that indulge in style, charm and character seeking a memorable experience. Thank you IGH for a fabulous stay! Henri RW

I booked a Standard Single Room, which had an external private bathroom. The welcome by Carlos was lovely and the location of the hotel is pretty central (quite easy to find from the airport bus). The room overlooked the street which gave it atmosphere. The room itself included the minibar, a comfortable bed, desk, small balcony and wardrobe. The external bathroom was just down the hallway and it's private for you (you get allocated a bathroom). All in all, this is complete value for money and I can recommend it to any solo traveller!

First of all, the location is excellent.  I was able to check in to my room early,  which was great. However, it is clear I was not given the room I'd booked and paid for in advance on hotels.com.  I'd booked a 'Superior' room, which my booking confirmation shows as being 30 sq m with views of the city.  The room I was given (112) does not match the description of the room I paid for.  Further investigation confirms my actual room is a 'standard' room. It has an unappealing courtyard view, as well as being much smaller than the superior room I paid for.  Most of the other guests in this section (there was a separate door leading to the superior rooms in another part of the floor) were occupying several room and were very noisy, totally oblivious to the soul individual in room 112 who was not part of their group, meaning I had trouble getting to sleep and/or was woken up every night. It's a bit much when you have to knock on another guests door which has about 9 or 20 people sat around drinking being very loud to ask them to keep the noise down. THE WiFi was very poor.  I did not enjoy my experience of staying here. They should make sure guests are allocated the room they have paid for instead of a room that would have cost less. I suspect this had something to do with my being a solo travel.  Feedback was given to hotels.com when asked to rate my check in experience. I rarely have to say this, but I do NOT recommend this property.

Response from CARLO PARISI, Proprietario at Gattopardo House
Responded Nov 4, 2022
Hello, we are sorry about your review. We checked and you were incorrectly assigned the standard room instead of the superior room you booked. Sorry for that but it was a mistake on our part. Request: You stayed with us for 7 days. Why didn't you come to the reception to complain and change your room from standard to superior? pWe will answer you: because the room assigned to you is similar to the superior rooms. The only difference is that it was the internal side and not the street side. A tip also for the other guests who read this review: come to the reception and expose your problem and we will be happy to solve it if possible. Don't be like the guest who wrote the review ruining the holiday. Thank you Carlo Parisi - Owner

This is a lovely Hotel in a central location. A very big plus point for this hotel is that it does have a lift, a small lift, but I have stayed in old building like this and having a lift is a bonus. Another bonus was the FREE safe in the room, again I have stayed in similar hotels that charge for this. We booked a superior room to make sure we had an EnSite bathroom, the room was large (very large) with a nice balcony overlooking Via Etnea, despite this the room was very quiet at a nighttime even though the street remained very busy. No breakfast here, but a very nice cafe on the street next door and numerous other places for breakfast close by. Would I stay here again, defiantly but I would go for the Superior room again.

Extremely good value beautifully clean and full of old Italian character which is what I loved about. It’s like being in Italian walking into the old Palazzo and up the dark stairs to your room which is simple but with air-conditioning Wi-Fi and free soft drink minibar an excellent bathroom.... it’s all good !

This accommodation is in an old palazzo, and looks absolutely gorgeous, if you like historical buildings. If you want a slick room painted white, this is not for you. The rooms are a bit worn out, but the suite we stayed in was in a good condition and I felt like a noble myself. The only means of heating was the air conditioner, which made air a bit too dry. There was plenty of space and the service was kind and cool. The location is optimal, in the middle of the city but also on a quiet street (you can close the wooden inner windows).

I moved here at short notice having found the accommodation I'd booked in Catania was unsuitable. I found the hosts, Serafina and Carlos, kind and attentive. The house is absolutely wonderful - the drawing room in the picture looks even better in real life. I had a huge triple bedroom with a large ensuite shower room all to myself at a very reasonable rate. The location is about as good as it gets - just of Via Etnea, five minutes walk from the Duomo and Fish Market, two minutes walk to the bus for the airport. Heavy shutters kept out any noise from the street. Wholeheartedly recommend.

The service was excellent and proactive at the hotel, with Carlo arranging a very reasonably-priced taxi to and from the airport. The room was huge, with a stunning stucco celing; the bathroom was very modern. Situated just off Via Etnea, the hotel was very central but also very quiet. We'll definitely be staying here again.
