We stayed in hotel Columba D’ora in Oct 2023 for 2 nights. The hotel is a peak into the opulent past of the hotel and retains many of the charming qualities from its glory days. The room we had was spacious with a small separate sitting room and a walk in wardrobe. The hotel offers an aperitivo hour, although it was only happening on one night of our stay. It was nice with a selection of nuts and olives with your aperol which was a nice touch. The location is superb, just seconds away from the main square with the amphitheater and main shopping streets with many restaurants close by as well as the philharmonic theatre and the train station. Although the hotel is not modern it is very charming and the staff very friendly. The buffet style breakfast was simple but more than adequate. Would certainly recommend.

Wow! What a hotel. We arrived mid December for a few nights and walked into the beautiful reception. It’s beautiful paintings really set the scene for a great city to visit. We checked in and was not disappointed with the hotel room either. It even had a balcony. It is old fashioned but this does not impact the quality of the place. I’m gluten free and was able to eat well in breakfast. The staff are very helpful friendly and polite, and even try and help with my Italian!! I would highly recommend this hotel!! Much better character than chain hotels or air bnb! I wouldn’t hesitate in going back

Fantastic location for exploring Verona. A short walk to the Arena & other historical sites. The hotel has the most amazing Art Deco style decor and the staff are very helpful & accommodating. The breakfast buffet is quite good with enough variety to satisfy everyone. The rooms are quite spacious with plenty of cupboard space & a place to store your suitcases. Lots of cafes & restaurants just outside the door. I would highly recommend staying here if you are going to Verona.

Such a lovely set! So kind and helpful staff. Clean and large rooms. Efficient breakfast. Romantic atmosphere. Good mattress in the room. I would like some furniture more at the balconies. Excellent location, nearby all touristic attractions.

Steps away from Arena, Casa di Giulietta and other tourist attractions, about half an hour walk from the train station. Breakfast was OK, very kind and attentive staff at the restaurant and reception. Our bathroom wasn’t very clean, but we stayed only 1 night and didn’t make a big fuss about it.

The one, only one, redeeming factor is the hotel is 2 blocks from the amphitheater if you're going for opera. The hotel is plain awful if you're use to air-conditioning (they turn it off every morning). A way to save money. This is not a 4 star hotel but more of an old B&B. If you go with this, you won't be unpleasantly surprised. There is no blackout curtain so if you're jet lagged or want to sleep in, no. Besides, if in summer the room gets stuffy and hot without the aircon in the morning. The shower bath, the hand shower drips. You must flush the water first as the first 5 minutes the water runs yellow. The breakfast, well, it is food. The rooms are so old and tired, there is 1 outlet to charge your devices unless you bootleg the night-light. The doorman is tired too, so he won't be helping with luggage other than 3 steps from the sidewalk. There is 1 elevator that they installed when they first built the hotel that 2 large humans or 1 human with 2 carryons can fit in. And very loud and slow. Take the stairs. If your room is facing the streets, you will hear everything. The walls are paper thin, the infant next door wasn't feeling well, and you will know what time that child finally fell asleep. The towels, well my rags are in better quality. The bed, the mattress reminds me of camp when I was a kid, the pillows, they have seen much better days. The sheets, I checked for bed bugs, none that I could see, maybe they fled to find softer sheets to infiltrate. The demeanor of the reception. Depends on who you get. Some are polite, one woman in the afternoon, well perhaps she owns the place, or daughter of the owner, downright mean. All I asked was there a bike route they could recommend. Would I return, no. One and done.

My mother and I stayed here for 4 nights for the opera festival and I am so pleased we booked here! Our flight was delayed and we didn't land in Verona until 11pm, it then took ages to get a taxi so I called the hotel to let them know we would be running late, they were very nice and had no issues that we may be checking in rather later than expected, I think we eventually arrived just before midnight. We each had a single room which was extremely comfortable, good bed and linens, the room had great a/c which was definitely needed, good sized bathroom and with a shower over bath and very good water pressure. The breakfast was good and suited us both - tea/coffee, juices, yoghurts, eggs, pastries etc. The staff were always very professional and friendly. The location was perfect - a one minute walk to the arena and opposite a lovely restaurant (Torocolo) - definitely book here for dinner. We had a fantastic stay and I wouldn't hesitate too recommend.

lovely clean rooms, friendly staff and a very characterful hotel and bar in the best possible location. only thing stopping from 5* is that the breakfast was not amazing, especially the cheeses and breads and the breakfast room had a very strange vibe going on. would definitely go back though!

First, the location was terrific. As well as the hotel overall. The hotel is about a block away from Piazza Bra. It was an easy walk all over the old town from the hotel. Plus there are lots of restaurants near by including on the Piazza (we particularly liked Ristorante Nastro Azzurro which was right next to the hotel on the little street leading to the Piazza...see my separate review). Service at the hotel was great. Everyone was very helpful. They have a parking lot under the hotel so parking is available...which is a must in the old town. Breakfast was a full buffet with eggs, sausage, cold meats and cheeses, bakery items, cereal, etc. Website photos were an accurate portrayal of the hotel. Bed and room were comfortable and nice. Wifi was my only complaint as it was a bit spotty and I kept loosing the connection. Also while I was lead to believe the balcony had a view, it did not. Just a few of the building next door and some roof tops. Still we were in the hotel so little it did not matter. Finally, the price was reasonable Overall, I highly recommend the hotel for a stay in Verona given the reasonable price, service, location and quality of the accommodations, breakfast, available parking etc.
