Colleague selected for location and reasonable prices. Those are the main points. Short walk from St Marco yet not too noisy. Single rooms are small (I guess Americans would get claustrophobic), breakfast opens at 8:00 (website says 7:00, perhaps that is during high season?) . Coffee comes from a machine and other produce is "economy class standard".

Hotel Antico Panada in Venice offers a charming and historic stay in the heart of this enchanting city. Nestled among the winding streets and just steps away from St. Mark's Square, the location is unparalleled. The hotel's classic Venetian decor and architecture create a timeless atmosphere, while the attentive staff ensures a warm and welcoming experience. However, the rooms, though clean and comfortable, may benefit from some modern updates to enhance overall guest comfort. The on-site restaurant impresses with traditional Italian cuisine, adding a delightful culinary dimension to the stay. Despite some room for improvement, Hotel Antico Panada remains a delightful choice for those seeking a central and authentic Venetian experience, combining history, hospitality, and the magic of Venice.

My wife and I just spent 2 nights in this great city hotel which is located just a short stroll from St Marks Square, Doge’s Palace and the basilica. The room was nice and clean although quite small but actually what we expected from a city hotel. There was no view from our room but not an issue as we only use the room for sleeping. A nice continental breakfast was included which was perfectly adequate. We were on the 3rd flood and there was a lift if we had have needed it. All in all we were happy with our stay.

The hotel is in a great location-only a short walk to the Square. Plus lots of bars, shops and restaurants close by. Our room was a disaster-the door handle was coming off and the hair dryer was useless-plus fell off to! We also only had a trickle of hot water in the shower and I mean a trickle. There was a safe -but it was so light you would be better to take it with you! We were there two nights and never again! We didn’t mind the room itself -clean sheets. Only one pillow each -so flat and hard as a rock. When asked for another-they didn’t have any. You can also only get one room key. No fridge or tissues either. Our friends stayed too and their rooms seemed a bit better. Breakkie was ok-gets very busy and layout of room makes it hard to get to coffee etc. thought breakkie was ok-basic-but croissants were ok. We wanted to stay around the square without spending a fortune. So the hotel met this brief. I would def search for some where else to stay next time!

The location of this hotel is exceptionally close to Piazza San Marco, in fact as you walk out of the front door and turn right you arrive at Doge's Palace in approximately 1 minute! After reading some awful reviews about this hotel just before we set off, I was so relieved when we arrived to find a very polite and professional man at reception who explained that we could not have the room until 2pm but he would check us in and we could leave our cases in the reception area while we went for lunch. Our room was clean, tidy and, considering the hotel is 134 years old, we were more than happy with the size. The decor matched the photographs and description. Our beds were comfortable and everything worked. Breakfast is free, it's simple no frills - coffee, tea or juice with croissants/bread cheese, ham, salami or cereal. We ate it everyday without complaint, however there are plenty of cafe's to choose from should you want anything else. We had no unwanted visitors in our room, the staff were not rude or Basil Fawlty-ish the hotel was certainly not dirty and we'd most certainly go back again. Thank you Hotel Antico Panada - you were a great base for us to explore from. Disliked · If I have to think of something it's we didn't have a plug in the bath, I had every intention of going to ask reception for one but we were just too busy clocking around 16km (10 miles) a day exploring the city.

This hotel is smelly as hell... like a moldy old shoe. The rooms are stuck in the 1980s... When we checked in we heard the guy at the desk yelling to someone on the phone about bedbugs in Italian. He was weird, too! He treated us okay, but we think it was only because we answered his questions about religion in a way he liked. He asked if we believed in the Pope. And if we were Catholic... and we wondered if he was mean to the woman in front of us because she answered differently than we did. It was like an episode of Faulty Towers. John Cleese at the desk with an Italian accent. We watched him send two different groups on goose chases for rooms that did not seem to exist, and with keys that didn't match what the rooms needed (he really seemed to gaslight this one woman who insisted she did not get a key, only later we realized they use cards, not keys anyway... and he kept telling her that they did give her a blue key... so so odd). The breakfast here is AWFUL. Like, how can you possibly make bad coffee from an automated espresso machine? But they do it! It tasted like an ashtray. Must be cheap coffee in there... anyhow STAY AWAY from this place it is not the bargain you want. Don't let them tell you that all hotels in Venice smell that way. They do not!

Fantastic stay. Amazing location just a short walk from St Marks square. We had a triple room on the third floor which the elevator took us to. The room was very clean and spacious and we had a large en-suite with a good shower. Breakfast was downstairs just off the lobby and the continental style fare was plentiful and of a great of quality. The staff were helpful and friendly. Highly recommend for a great location at reasonable cost. Thank you Hotel Antico Panada for a lovely stay.

Bed Bugs Room 115 Terrible - do not stay - similar experience from another traveller in June 2023 When we checked in they opened our window which was strange - then our aircon wouldn’t start until we went down twice requesting a reset which eventually it went on at around 8.00pm when we were ready to sleep (turns out Bed Bugs won’t come out when it’s hot!) I woke up around 6.00am and saw a bug near my face. On examination they were all over the bed and my partner got extremely badly bitten (I had less as I was in long PJs). The bites left blood all over the sheets. We notified reception who said they had no idea about the Bed Bugs and Booking.Com had to refund us as we used a third part site. Contacted Booking.com and they said no the hotel must. Re contacted the hotel who said no Booking.Com. Anyway after a bit of searching we found out the room had bed bugs from June 2023 at least and others had experienced the same. I don’t know how they can morally allow people to walk into that room knowing people will get bit, and then do so many overt acts to disguise it ie; open window, not allow aircon to work, pretend they don’t know when you complain. We would have rather booked another hotel room then stayed here if we had known. I also also deeply annoyed that the offer to refund us has since not been honoured by the hotel. We have also now had to go through processes of sanitising our luggage and Re washing all our clothes so we don’t bring them home. Do not stay here.

Problem of bed bugs 🕷🕷🕷during my one night stay in Hotel Antico Panada + hotel Diana June 28-29, 2023- Venice- Mr Chouchane Part 1/2 Complaint report of one night in the Hotel Antico Panada - Venice on June 28-29, 2023 in room 115 where we had experienced a terrible night with about ten Wood Flea-type insects while we slept that evening which pushed us to leave this room at midnight. The wood fleas were all over the bed and all the blankets. Me and my wife were shocked and terribly disgusted and wanted to leave the hotel. We would like to present this report to the administration of the hotel, of booking and we would like to make a refund for this night. Photos and videos are available as evidence. Next: Part 2/2 I report the rest of the events to you. At midnight we had left room 115 of the Hotel Antico Panada. We had another room in the hotel which is just opposite Diana Hotel, room 202. We had checked at the very beginning that there were no fleas in the bed. At 4am we wake up with scratching + itching and we find ourselves with a bed full of fleas and bedbugs again. Attached photos and videos attached. We decided to see the manager but he was not there. We had left the hotel at 5.30am to wander the streets and then come back to the manager at 7am who told us that it was a general problem and that a chemical cleaning was planned!. Finally I note you: -Given the very dangerous hygiene violations boring immediately and which can leave recurrent problems (reproduction of human bedbugs) Considering the consequences: having to move at midnight to a second hotel and then leaving the hotel at 5:30 a.m. remaining in the streets without shelter. Given the psychological threats to the wife of Mr Chouchane -Given the absence of a serious apology presented by the person in charge. -Given the knowledge of the problem of fleas and bedbugs deducible from the conversation with the manager, his negligence and his camouflage by temporary care before the arrival of the customers. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, in this context, for taking the necessary measures for this huge and very worrying hygiene problem and this undeniably dangerous scam. Cordially
