Stayed here over New Year's. They took a 300 Euro deposit off our (Swiss) card. It's now THREE WEEKS since we checked out, and they said they'd refund us immediately. We don't have our money back, and they completely refuse to be of any assistance. "If you don't have your money after 30 days, contact your bank, it's a foreign card." I don't recommend this hotel AT ALL, and despited repeated attempts to get help from them, they're of no use.

Response from Alexia Desandre, Propriétaire at Crowne Plaza Montpellier - Corum, an IHG Hotel

Dear joeruzvidzo, First of all, thank you very much for your recent stay at the Crowne Plaza Montpellier Corum. I am so sorry to see you did not enjoy your overall experience with us. The bank guarantee is part of the booking conditions applied by other hotel establishments in Montpellier, whether or not there is prepayment for the stay. This information is mentioned by all reservation methods and online sites under the heading "Refundable security deposit". For your information, this procedure is a guarantee for the hotelier in the event of unexpected surprises in the rooms or extras consumed in our restaurant Le Maxens. We have confirmed by email with proof of tickets that the pre-authorization has been closed. The entire procedure has been followed on our side, which is why we advise you to contact your bank to find out how to proceed. Please do not hesitate to contact me at the following address: assistante.direction@cpmontpellier.com. Your sincerely, Alexia Desandre Executive Assistant

I would like to sincerely thank Mrs. Alexia Desandre for her professionalism and reactivity. I had issues with the hotel which she promptly took care of. I don't know what I would have done without her help!

The pros: Has a pool. Ok rooms and sleeping quality. The cons: The lunch by the pool was a joke. Expensive beyond belief with very little selection (just attempted "posh" food). It took 45 minutes to get the food (there were 2 other customers at the same time). And once it arrived half of it was cold (proper cold... not just luke warm). Half of the dishes were mixed up (wrong conduits). The meat was dry and not a chance in hell that the pork served was real Iberico. We got half price of as compensation, should have been 100%. Just have the lunch elsewhere. The pool area is too small, there are only about 10 sun chairs which are constantly occupied. And here's the worst thing; they put a deposit of 300 EUR on your card. This deposit is not lifted until your bank decides that it's taken too long time for them to claim the money (2 weeks in my case). I went back to the hotel to ask them where the fk my money was, but they gave me copies of the "lift" receipt. Doesn't help me, they are still not doing it right. I have had deposits put on my card tons of times and it has always been lifted the day you check out. This is not a "party" hotel in Ibiza, why would you have a deposit in a 4 star hotel? It is just tacky, borderline pathetic. Just do not accept them putting any deposit on your card, there is no reason for it.

The only saving grace of this hotel is its location. A quick stroll through the park will put you at the Place de Comedie with all its shops and restaurants. The hotel is overpriced for what it offers: decaying rooms that are not properly clean or maintained. It seems management is not interested in providing a good experience for guests or investing in maintenance and cleaning supplies. We couldn’t wait to leave and would never return to this hotel.

This hotel has gone downhill . The room good the hot water wasn’t hot enough to run a bath and the maintenance said it’s hot enough !! . The Tv in the bedroom pixilated unwatchable. Kids running up and down the passages screaming. The bar run out of certain wines . A 2 star at best !

We booked this hotel for 5 nights. We got there around 4pm & there was only one person helping guests. The check in took over 45 minutes. We taught that it was easy to walk to the city centre but you have to walk through this alleyway that is a bit scary as there are so many drunks, homeless people & so many dogs running around that make my daughter really scared. During the check in the hotel charged me twice & I did point out the error to the receptionist but he was not very receptive & quick to rectify the issue. I did also spoke to the manager & his attitude was not any better. The worst is the laud noise coming from the hallway. People not even guests are allowed to rom in the hallway making very laud noises and knocking my bed room. The following morning I spoke to the manager & he said it’s because of summer parties. The same for the swimming pool. They allowed non guests to use & there is no bed left for guests to use. In general it is not a good hotel at all. Will never stay there again

The room was fine, service was less good. For instance, there was only one person at the reception both at both checkin and checkout, and we had to wait a long time while that person was dealing with complaints from other guests. The outside bar was either unstaffed or staffed with one waitress who was friendly but lacked experience to serve the entire crowd by herself. It took 30 minutes to order a coffee. Given the prices of the rooms all of this should be better.

Not the easiest to get to by car - maybe that was our ancient Sat Nav though. Gated car park at the side of the hotel accessed with your room key. Booked a family room which turned out to be two rooms with an interconnecting door. One had a super king size bed and the other twin beds. One had a huge shower and the other a bath with shower over. Plenty of tea and coffee sachets but virtually no milk. Easy to walk into the centre of Montpellier and there’s lots of restaurants to choose from. Some cooked items at breakfast as well as the usual selection of cold meats and cheeses.

Arrived early-about noon after a slow walk uphill from Corum tram stop. Was greeted by snippy young lady at desk who said room would not be available until 15h (3 pm). I let her know that I was Spire Elite and had requested early arrival check-in on line. She pretended to type and act as if she was trying to find something before slipping away to a back room without a word to never return. A gentleman appeared and took control. We didn't get a suite but did receive a business room with bathtub and larger bed. AC off for season, but they tried to override so we could have air, they claimed. Fridge, but locked. Safe and outlets by bed. View north, I think. We tried to nap in stuffy room and then left for dinner. Upon return, we had to move rooms because the room assigned, #341, not only had no air circulation, it had horrible mold issues in the bathroom ceiling and reeked upon our return after being shut up for hours! We were given the key to room #427 and went to check it out. It had slightly smaller bed, shower and no tub, but fresher air and no apparent mold or mildew. Much better. We spent our 2 nights here and were much more comfortable. I don't think I ever saw the snippy young woman again! Breakfast ok with eggs made to order and other selections, which had been out awhile, but we ate just before 9 on 1st day. Got last bacon, was told out for day, but then chef came out with more, but omelet was so good and filled me up. Choices of mushrooms, ham, tomatoes (not for me), and cheese. Received good size one which was very good. Breakfast with additional charge and better to book with reservation price-wise. Even better the 2nd day once I knew the routine and got another great omelet plus some good pastries and drank lots of water! Except for our initial room, most everything was clean. Room #341 needed a major overhaul and should have been off limits until such with crime tape. It was strange when we arrived because there was a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. I went back to the lobby to verify that it wasn't someone else's room and was told that the sign was meant to indicate quiet area. I think they knew that this room was not inhabitable and maybe we were given this out of spite but can't prove that so I will give them the benefit of the doubt because most went well after the room change. The hotel is easily accessible once you get your bearings. We came from the Gare du Sud TGV station and took a quick shuttle to the tram and then the tram to Corum stop for less than 2 € per person. We discovered that we could walk around the hotel and cross a pedestrian bridge for easy access to a huge park that led to the Comedie area. We could also go past the Corum station and turn left to enter the old town with many restaurants and more. It is a very walkable city. At the end, we took the tram to the airport shuttle bus stop and had an easy connection to the airport. Now that I have stayed here and learned the area, I would definitely choose the Crowne Plaza again. Despite the arrival and the staff member who should be retrained and being given a hazardous room at first, it turned out to be a decent stay in a great location with easy access by tram/bus to airport and train and by foot to the main areas of town. Just check out your room (bathroom ceiling, air flow, etc) before settling in too much and unless you're leaving too early, add breakfast! Have a delicious omelet..

I am a loyal customer as I am a spire member for the last few years. Crown plaza should be a high standard hotel. The facility in Montpellier is great but please pay attention to the people you employ which make the overall experience of your stay. I am starting with my booking ( rewards) with my 5 people family with 3 children’s. I had to book 3 bedroom as I have been told that the new policy was not allowing to add an extra bed in the room. So instead of 2 rooms you have to take 3 rooms ( not the same budget) and as you don’t have 3 rooms connected you have to split with your wife not to leave a under aged children lonely in a room. Also for dinner the restaurant was not available because it is “now only for breakfast, I assume not enough people” so they put us at the bar which do not make you feel the same. Also when you order a bottle of wine they don’t have the reference. So I am very disappointed and frustrated that You cannot share with your family a nice experience. So if you are a family be careful they might won’t accept you but don’t worry they will accept the pet’s Cheers
