Great location if your looking for a hub in the city centre. Excellent value for money and a lovely pub. The room had everything you would need and given the location near loads of bar it was very quiet.

We turned up for our booking to find out we were a year too early!! We had booked via another website and were told that the same mistake had happened lots of times previously. Having left our luggage there anyway before the checkin time the hotel kept their last room for us anyway. This was a huge relief as then we weren't checking in until 11pm in the pouring rain and it would have been horrendous to try to find anywhere else. The loft room was lovely - clean, huge comfy bed, sofa and all the usual complimentary stuff. Great for the price and with very friendly staff. The location is good although the view from the rear rooms is just of a multi storey car park. I'd expected night time noise and noise from the pub below but it was in fact really quiet. The only downside was the breakfast which was below average. They'd run out of decaf coffee but the regular coffee was the best bit. Poached eggs were overdone for the eggs benedict. My husband ordered poached eggs on toast with a side of bacon but got rubbery scrambled eggs and no side until they were reminded. It was all a bit medium warm but the price was good so we didn't conplain as we hadn't got time to wait for it to be remade. All in all a great hotel but a shame about the breakfast. We would definitely go back to stay though for the location, value for money and friendly staff.

This is a great pub for both a quiet drink and or food. They have a good selection of beers, ales and IPAs and the food is delicious, good pub food but 5 star restaurant quality. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, Eve served us and she was very pleasant and made sure we had everything we needed and was always there when we wanted another drink.

Warm welcome from staff, gave plenty of recommendations of places to go and gave us a tip of looking on Manchester Confidential website to find out about best places to go in the area. They also informed us a list could be found of all the places doing amazing discount throughout January, most places being 50% food and sometimes drink!

Location was superb about a 15-20 minute walk from Piccadilly train station, and only a 2-3 minute walk to The Arndale shopping centre which has plenty shops, and a great food court to explore.

Everything was walking distance so no need for Uber or even a Tram, but if you wanted to all is very easy to access.

Federal an amazing brunch place is only a couple minute walk and highly recommend, love it so much we go every time we visit Manchester!

Although the place is a pub there was no noise to be heard from when in your room, which was nice.

Only couple bad bits were heating unit broken so the room had an electric heater which did the job, and the blind chain was broke. I just simply let the staff know once our stay was over so they could fix ready for next guests.

I would highly recommend staying here and we would definitely return here!

Our first time back for over 2 years because of personal and global health issues. We're normally regular concert goers and whenever we're in Manchester this is our hotel of choice. All the staff are exceptionally pleasant, the food, either breakfast or bar meal are delicious and the Guinness is good too!

It's located behind the arndale centre close to the music venues and railway stations. I would say that Manchester City council are making it incredibly difficult to drive there with all the road closures and diversions and when you do finally make it they've also taken over the management of the multi storey car park next to the hotel and doubled the cost! But these are issues completely out of the control of the hotel and the moral of the story is take the train.

The only thing boutique about this hotel wwas the size of the rooms. For the price we paid for an overnight stay we did not expect to be given a room with a double bed pushed up against a wall, This is something that should be advised before booking as having hip and knee problems, shuffling up and down the bed to go to the bathroom was not what I had bargained on, especially when I could have booked a cheaper hotel with better facilities. To also not have a bedside light and a bedside table to put a drink on, is in my opinion not the facilities you would expect from a boutique hotel. We have specifically booked this hotel as a treat at the extra cost and was very disappointed. To top it all, our view out of the window was of grafitti and a homeless person, laid out for the night. Entry to and from the hotel was through an exceptionally busy and roust pub as the hotel entrance never seemed to be in used and the very small reception never manned.

When booking tickets for shows at the AO Arena our go to accommodation is always the Abel Heywood. The location is ideal as there is the Northern Quarter car park opposite and just a 10 minute walk to the Arena. You're always guaranteed a warm welcome and no noise in the rooms from the bar, the soundproofing is really good. The food served is great with lots of choice. Have recommended to family and friends for some time now and will continue to do so.

We had the larger double, with a king size bed. The rooms are tight but nicely designed and we had an enjoyable stay. Dinner was exceptional, best meal of our holiday I would say with great service in the upstairs restaurant. The location in the NQ is great for seeing a few sights and visiting local bars or shopping.

We have had lunch and breakfast here in the past and it has always been great. Decided to have a night here and we were not disappointed. Although we had a fairly small room, it had everything we needed but we would probably opt for a larger room next time. I took earplugs expecting it to be fairly noisy but didn't need them!! The location is perfect with a car park right across the road. The staff have always been friendly every time we've been and the food was delicious.

The hotel is excellent value for money.

Located in the centre of Manchester...so, convenient to get to.

Warm welcome on arrival which was appreciated.

The double room I stayed in was lovely...no issues. I slept really well. It was a Monday night. No noise from the pub below or from outside.

The room had air conditioning.

I appreciated the fact that the room had a small iron and table top ironing board which I made use of. It also had a hair dryer, hair and shower gel, two bottles of water and some tea bags etc.

Downstairs, the pub was lovely and the food excellent.

All in all I would highly recommend and will be staying there again.

We did not park at the hotel as we cabbed it from the airport, sorry. As for the bars: the Abel bar itself is great (discount for staying), Lust, Luck, Liquor NCP Deans Gate The Northern Quarter is fantastic - a great place to eat or drink every street you hit.
