Stayed here for the weekend. If you ever need life to just slow down to a crawl, there just aren't many better options. Very peaceful and isolated resort that makes for a great place to unwind and forget about city life. No question it is a challenge to get to - a solid hour of driving on rough road - no place for a car unless you want to go snails pace. Make sure you have spare tires just in case! It is challenging to find as well, so rely entirely on the website that has good step by step directions - do not use google! Once you get there, its just a different world - quiet, peaceful, very few bugs (mid September anyway). On a huge lake with trout and apparently kokanee. They have boats with motors as well as canoes to rent, but there is also an upper parking lot for storing trailer and a rough launch if you want to bring your own boat. Rustic is a good description, but caretaker Sandy has this place immaculate - the grounds have been taken care of, the accommodation is basic but clean. You have power (generator) in the morning for 2-3 hours or so, then another 4-5 hours in the evening. You can apparently pay for additional power use outside of that if you want. There is a common washhouse for the cabins, the chalets have their own which is nice. The evenings were cool, but so nice to just look up at the stars with everything pitch black and no city lights to disrupt. Was a great visit!

Spruce wilderness is in a very nice setting and there are very few bugs. That said. The place is run down and very hard to get to. The road is a mess and your car will be beaten up. Also very poor signage. Some of our party got lost.
