Absolutely love this place. Friendly, warm, comfortable, clean, fantastic food and so accommodating for dogs! Beautiful grounds to walk around. The room had everything you need and really conveniently for dogs opens directly outside. Can't wait to go back.

A wonderful Christmas and New Year in a well appointed cottage, comfortable and warm, plenty hot water, good quality bedding and towels. A warm greeting on arrival, with a good selection of first class food and drinks, served by polite, friendly and well trained staff throughout our stay. The service and food on Christmas Day, the Gourmet dinner and New Year’s Eve was outstanding. Ideal location for doing nothing or visiting the local towns and the coast. Well done “Team Trout”

This year once again we stayed for three days in the Brown Trout. Thank you to the staff who once again made our Christmas extra special. The three day stay was tremendous, food was amazing as always portions were really amazing. This is a lovely place to chill and do nothing just enjoy family time together. If your ever on the North Coast of Northern Ireland we thoroughly recommend a visit. You don't have to stay overnight, although if you can it makes it a special occasion. Open for lunch at any time.

Just back from having a Christmas outing with friends, we changed our original venue to here as I had had a delicious meal here a few weeks ago. Needless to say my friends were really impressed! It was absolutely delicious, we all opted for Turkey dinner, so so good. The restaurant was lovely and cosy, staff were very pleasant. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. It might be a bit out of town but definitely worth the drive out.

Super tasty food… Great value… dog friendly. Immaculate and large bedroom ( 2 double beds) & bathroom…. Ours had a walk in shower as well as a separate bath. Really Friendly & efficient staff. SHOUT OUT TO THE CHEF(S) ….Did I mention the AMAZING food?? Booked on Saturday morning for a Sunday overnight stay, because it was dog friendly ( & I’d forgotten it was my husband’s birthday next week 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️) We live in Belfast (an hours drive away) and I had always been put off by the ( previously ) “dated” photos of the bedrooms. I completely forgot to take any photos of the room ( room 6) but as previous posters have already mentioned, rooms 1-16 ( I think ??) all open out directly to an outdoor area, so if you’re dog needs outside at any point, there’s easy access It’s not really near anything ( apart from the adjacent golf course of course) The “residents lounge” looked comfortable but could do with the same make over the bedrooms have had. Well behaved,“4 legged” friends ( like our wee 13yr old Shih Tzu ) were made very welcome by any staff we came into contact with. The Brown Trout seems to be a very family run business and we’ll definitely be back to visit again… hopefully to stay in some of the cottages..,with our kids & grandkids.

Just back from 3 nights in The Brown Trout Inn. It is run by a team with pride in what they do. Spacious, spotless bedrooms and bathrooms, excellent food locally sourced. Lovely surrounding grounds and walks. It was the little touches though that stood out. Breakfast served till 12am! and no booking. Bright lights for reading in the room ( rarely available now in hotels). Cosy open fire to sit by and another quiet cosy room to relax with a book and of course a friendly helpful staff. Lots of interesting background history on the walls. Modern facilities with a bit of old world charm.

We were lucky enough to stay here for 2 nights. We stayed in one of the cottages. Beautifully decorated and everything you could wish for. So comfortable. Breakfast was included. So much choice, locally sourced and very tasty. We aren’t golfers but I would imagine for a golfing party this hotel with its cottages geared up for golf trolleys and easy access to the 9 hole course would be ideal. The choice of evening meals was extensive and beautifully cooked.

Wonderful 3 night stay with our cockapoo. Spotlessly clean, large bedroom with direct access to outside, handy for dog. Super friendly staff, great food - steak is fabulous. Great walk around golf course for dog. Super warm in bedroom and in main bar for eating. Lovely snug areas. Highly recommend this hidden gem. Slight down side (not hotel related), really no dog friendly eateries for miles but no need to leave really as food was super. We WILL be back.

If you are looking for a quiet place out in the country where you can relax, take walks, etc. then this is the place for you. Rooms are very spacious, breakfasts were delicious, service and staff were excellent. Public areas were cozy, beautiful fireplace, nice bar area. However, we were three ladies traveling, and we wanted to be in Derry near the restaurants and shops! The Brown Trout is an hour from Derry. It was a very nice place, just not what we wanted.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Brown Trout Inn. Our only regret is that we were only there one night! Upon arriving, we were greeted by a very warm and friendly staff. The room was beautiful - recently updated in a lovely decor and an amazing bathroom (what a nice surprise). Dinner and breakfast were delicious. We loved reading about the history of the area and looking at all of the old photos in the common areas. Long ago, my family emigrated from Derry to America - so I felt like I was reading my family's history. If we ever return to the area, we will definitely stay that the Brown Trout.
