Called in yesterday for a drink with some mates. Nice surroundings and friendly bar staff. The beer was okay but very expensive compared to other pubs in the area. Evidently they do good food but again pricey.
A brilliant afternoon and great effort from the staff at the Jacobs Plough considering we were 28 people! All food arrived promptly with no issues. A great place to spend time with work colleagues! Will definitely be returning with my family
The place is a good old fashioned pub. The food is good but the rooms or indeed the room we were in needs attention. Dirty carpet, cold, tiny toilet like you were sitting in a wardrobe. The bed was OK though. I wouldn't stay again but I would dine there that's it
I suggested this as a place to meet friends as it was fairly central. We were welcomed nicely enough and seated quickly. The service was then terribly slow, which I could have understood if it was busy, but it wasn’t. I ordered a pulled pork burger, which sounded nice. When it eventually arrived the chips were translucent and really fatty. It tasted like they had been cooked, allowed to go cold, and then refried. I left most of them. The burger meat was nice, but it was swimming in sauce and the worst part was the gherkins. These had been battered and deep fried. With the sauce and inside the bun they just became a soggy mess and most unpalatable. Perhaps these would be better served separately, but really they’d be better without the batter. If we hadn’t been in a hurry I would have sent it back and complained, but we didn’t have time. I can’t recommend this place and I won’t be returning.…
